I've been ranting about this and actually tried convincing parents to let me drop out but nope....I fucking hate college, in fact when we complained about at least teaching the subjects they've added themselves like Java or C properly the reply oh, we'll only teach you basics you've to learn on your own. Then why Fucking fuck am I even doing IT from a college and why should I pay you shitnuggets anything? Bitch
-
It trains your abstraction ability and that will result in better abstractions in software.
-
@CodeMasterAlex yea that doesn't mean you hire faculty who have issues in writing an array in Java :|
-
elgamine2838ybeside everything, college is a social advantage, suck it up and finish your degree, so you won't even get how much you shouldn't regret it. it's a PITA at the moment, the best choice on the long run
-
I agree .. college and university felt uterally pointless for me at the time but the social aspect is a big benefit. And after all those years of education it feels good once you finally finish it. Just keep it up !
-
@Damgecontrol glad to know there's something like this, but well I gotta complete the college ;_;
-
@mundo03 true but not really awesome when you spend 10-12 hours daily on that but just can't do much to develop your career or work on some project
-
College isnt a vocational school and a degree doesn't guarantee proficiency, but what it does do is prove that you are educated. In general someone who has a college degree will be better at commutating and solving complex problems.
-
lappalal388yDamn, I came to this thread in hopes of someone getting my spirit up before my finals in two weeks. Now I'm more sad than ever about having to finish up my degree
-
@CodeMasterAlex We have a subject called Engineering Drawing where we draw 2D and 3D figures, different views of the same object. How's that helping in abstract thinking? If they wanted to even say improve imagination, why not use AutoCAD than paper?
-
@Treighton That's generalization. College has a lot of theory, and that's not bad, but most of it is unnecessary. I also dislike the practical only approach adopted by bootcamps, they make half-ass developer who just know to write code than understand, but college needs to find a balance between good theory and necessary practical. You can take that much fees and say we don't guarantee proficiency

@justasithlord This is one of the only industries where you can get a decent job without a degree. If you think you have the skills, put a portfolio together and quit school. What do you mean your parents won't allow it? How old are you? Are they going to disown you or cut your inheritance? Just be grateful you're in a position that you can go to college and obviously have a support system to help you along.
-
mundo0349788y@justasithlord there is no rush man, it you are still studying chances are you have time, a lot of time.
Chill and learn, enjoy. -
@justasithlord Maybe you should have said that to yourself before you started whining then. The real reason you're staying in school is because it's the safe route. Trying it on your own merit is scary.
-
@phuzisham no, see there's time to everything and after already doing so much(3 yrs) I leave then there won't a point, so I gave up on dropping out cause it's too late and not cause I can't do things on my own
-
@justasithlord Do they teach English at your school? ("then there won't a point"--direct quote) You said you tried to convince your parents to let you quit. Now you're saying it was your decision. It doesn't matter. You're going to have an advantage over anyone without a degree (assuming equal skill) for all management positions. You're set up to have a really comfortable life. Just be grateful! That's all I'm saying.

Blaming the education system wont help you get over your frustration. I know there are flaws in the system but we have to fight our way out of this. I hope that you will not loss hope in order to find a better solution for this thing rather then abusing the education system. I would also like to add that there are people like this website who are helping students who are struggling to write a good assignments. They help them to write a professional assignment for them.

tommy15Right now someone at Google is coding something useless for us to laugh at on April Fools.
Fuck this system. Fuck college. Why the fuck are you making me write hundreds of chemistry assignments and calculating double integrals? How the fuck does that even help me? I seriously feel like college sucks up a huge chunk of my time and I am not learning anything, while I practice Node and Vue at home. Why does that degree hold so much value when most degree holders don't even have skills?
