Company tracking software on your computers? My company is starting to talk about it due to everyone being remote. I don't want to be that guy talking about 1984 and big brother but it really sits with me wrong. Philosophically at least. Most of us are against it and have proposed a united front of refusal. Thoughts?13

When your co-worker uses needless terminology. It’s your day off and you’re texting from bed.
cw: Do you have access to the email client?
me: You mean the work email? Yes.
cw: Did you set up access to the database or an FTP protocol for userX?
me: You mean an admin account? Yes.
cw: Were we planning on adding more calls to action on projectX?
me: You mean site links? Yes.2 -
My buddy and I both just interviewed at the same company. He got asked about salary expectations and I didn’t. Am I right in assuming that’s a bad sign?1

Start my internship at ‘around 11:00’ today. That’s how it was put by the owner. The company doesn’t have an office so they meet in the home theatre of a mansion twice a week. Across from the indoor basketball court and ping-pong room.
If it’s not a real company, experience still looks good on a resume right?1 -
Here's a quick distraction. Last Week Tonight's site-link to quickly leave a comment for the FCC on filing 17-108...

I'm sure you guys have plenty to say about that. -
Anyone else feel guilty if your profile points on here get higher than the +1's you've given? I guess I might be a socialist :p2

Some guy analyzed all the books mentioned on Stack Overflow and sorted them by popularity...

Even though my first rant was a rant ranting about rants this is definitely my favorite devForum so far. I'm new to this stuff so I've been checking out a few of them.
Plus I'm learning new stuff. Every time I don't get a joke I head over to Stack Overflow till I do. Probably not the best use of time but it helps to take a break every now and then. -
Anyone else sick of all the whining about college on here? It’s a CS degree. They are going to teach you science. Not to mention that Stack Overflow did a survey in 2015 and found that nearly half the developers didn’t have degrees. If you’re so much smarter than your professors then you should have no problem finding a job. Of course, if you’re lucky enough to not have to pay for school; you should just be thankful that you’re a step up in going for management positions and shut up. On the other hand, if you’re paying (going into debt) for school; then maybe you should take a step off the safe and well-trodden path and put a little faith in yourself. There is an abundance of free training online. I thought devs were supposed to be free-spirited rebels. Didn’t any of you see ‘Hackers’?9
