Was presenting an idea today for an IoT Challenge event. This was the first question by the judge:

"What will you do if internet isn't there?"

and? 🙂

It will become just ordinary thing.

Yeah, what did you say? It's an interesting question if you ask me: have you thought about what your device/service can do on its own or not?

Doesn't the entire concept of IOT takes the assumption that internet is constant. It's like what will you do with bulb if no electricity... It's like how dams gonna generate electricity if river has no water...
All technologies have a pre requisite which is taken granted to develop further...

Yes but you have options, like a ultrasonic meshnetwork.

@Zaphod65 I answered "I will provide a way to take the data offline before you go somewhere without internet. Or I'll send the data through SMS". Still he was like "your idea is dumb without internet" what to do? 😐

@heyheni I didn't know about these ultrasonic mesh networks before. Thanks for pointing out! But I don't think they can be used in my idea
