Well, just got laid off. My 2 cents: Dont open recruitment sites at work, even an email in your personal inbox.
The worst part is they took the first blow before I quit, and it fucking hurts.

    This sucks.

I hope you find a better job where you are valued more.

    Hang in there.

a better company would've tried to keep you

I get recruiter emails all the time on my work email, sometimes I'm tempted to reply when the salary package is somehow 2-2.5 times higher then what I'm on.

Sucks the company culture is non trusting, sounds like a way to get everyone fired though 🙄

Well that's why I don't even use the company's WiFi...
    More will cum

    @darksideofyay agreed.

Just as its cheaper to keep an existing customer its usually cheaper to keep an existing employee than to onboard a new one.

At least in any position where you need some location knowledge.

For purely menial tasks it might be different but there are not to many of those in development or support.

Sheesh, did they really have to spy on you like that? Good riddance, they are true assholes. You’ll get something better!

That sucks. Easy to say 'well, at least you're out of a culture so toxic as to do that', but that's not gonna pay the bills - I hope one day you'll be able to look on it as a blessing though. My CTO caught me doing the same thing about a decade ago, but he sat me down and asked me what could be done better there to stop people leaving. That's the right response to signs of discontent, not just straight-up firing people who are unhappy - hopefully it'll come back and bite them in the arse.

You're in the EU, can you really be fired just like that, were you in a probation period or something?

Should hopefully be plenty of jobs around Poland or the wider EU.

@nibor yea, until end of this year
. It's either I fight for unfair dismissal, or sign that we both agreed the termination. And they ain't worth law expenses. It's a start up that put me on the choke point of the production of some android app to some major clients.

A few months ago, I literally told them. We should upgrade the base code to something newer, non deprecated and has solid support. Like come on, who still uses the "Gingerbread connection" architecture. 🙄 The whole app was based on it. When they said no, it's too risky, I said okay, let's slowly work on transforming the SQL in the app, hundreds of tables have useless constraint keys that fucking delete anything anywhere anytime. They be like ahh it's an unstable migration.

I did want to do it privately, but devrant taught me you can work hard for absolutely zero recognition. Fuck it, I've been there for 2 years, authored so many libraries and yet I get no mention of picture on the company's web and mag.

The CTO and the CEO handed me the papers. They said the person responsible for my misfortune was the supervisor. He didn't show up, he said he went to replace the radiators, everyone called bullishit but I didn't know that twat was chickening out. It fucking sucks

@geneticCode it sounds like they always planned this, just before the 2 year period when extra employee protection kicks in (at least it does in the UK, I guess it is probably the same in Poland). They sound like a douche bag company.

I hope you find something better soon, there are definitely a lot of dev roles around at the moment.

That sucks but you might have dodged a bullet with that company. Management is obviously thin skin and did not even tried to keep you.
