If you couldn't work any more as a coder / programmer / hacker / it-master-guru, what would your profession be?

Like, not your ideal profession, but the most likely thing that you would end up doing outside of the dev world.

    Ugh... I don't want to go back into the intelligence field, but it's the only other thing I'm trained in and that pays decently... Good question, but fuck, why did you have to put that thought in my head.

    Sci-fi/Fantasy writer. I've been out of aircraft maintenance for too many years to go back to that, and I have absolutely no desire to go back into Intel (the profession, not the Co).

    Probably a farmer :D I decided to let this possibilty pass and pursue my dream to be a programmer and it turned out alright :D

    Most other professions stated in the comments are creative pursuits as well.
    Just goes to show, programming is as much a creative skill, as it is technical.

    @jagalbraith I grew up in FL. I remember carrying buckets of live shrimp to a place called Mather's Bridge and spending all day fishing.

    Probably teach science / electronics / computer engineering / robotics. Not STEM related? hmmm. musician or continue to be the best judoka and be a mma fighter. (not to mention ronda was beaten badly by holm's and I forgot the other one)
