sariel84473yThat's a shame, I figure in about 10 more years you're only going to see web apps for commercial companies and app dev in the enterprise and government sectors.
Already kind of there but there's a handful of places still holding on. -
As in you do it and hate it, or you dislike considering HTML and CSS as "not proper development"?
If you do it and hate it, there's lots of other things you can branch into. Learn!
If you dislike other web coders, I wouldn't spend my energy deriding others. Writing a good website is difficult. Some people consider my chosen areas of focus useless as well, good on them, I like it. -
Same. Used to love it. Having to make every page work for every possible device and (still?!?) Internet Explorer ruined it for me. It lost the cool factor long ago and people now think you’re just a grunt working in a larger marketing organization where the marketing people are the smart people and the developers are the dumb people.

I hate it too. It's never "enough" for clients. They'll never be satisfied or appreciate the hard work that went into optimising their page. I switched teams to do pure server infrastructure and never been happier since.

xavy43yoh, one of my favorite things to hate.
HTML is a bastardized XML, just way harder to parse. JavaScript is plain evil, and PHP isn't much better. HTTP should've been replaced decades ago, but instead people keep cramming features on top of it, even using it for RPC, or as a half-assed attempt to serve directories. -
@rEaL-jAsEs I honestly would agree that html and css with some minimizing would be a good alternative for writing desktop apps if you removed most of the functionality of the browser related to outside and external hijacks etc and didn’t have a visual editor or wysiswyg
Windows forms could have just been fixed in the few ways it was deficient for crissakes -
Same. Started to not minding doing frontend but now I fucking hate it.
I hate design and all the bullshit tickets that come with it.
I low-key hate web dev.
