Imagine there was an option to split your consciousness into two perfect copies. The one is stuck forever in the office working and making money for you, the second one lives its live without ever needing to work, it just receives the money in the bank account.

You are the second one.

Would you accept?

I've always had this dilema with clones. And yes, I'd accept

The goal is to slowly get to this situation before my body is too old to do anything anyway.

    SaaS, baby!!!!

Why it would be forever? My clone and I would make a deal and switch places every week. Problem solved.

That's basically the plot of Severance (haven't watched just heard of it)

    https://m.imdb.com/title/...

Ideally instead of clones, you can stay whole and work on passive income sources to get the same effect less work and more free time.

@arcadesdude Passive income will always only be an option for a leeching minority because if everyone relies on passive income, nobody produces the goods and services that the money is backed up against.

@Fast-Nop maybe. But if everyone is freed up to do what they really want to do they may end up producing things of high quality and end up trading excesses. If everyone did that then the production issue is solved and no one is a corporate slave anymore. In this way passive income is from creative outlets and arts and music that other willing pay for to enjoy in their free time. No leeching there just producing sharing that helps others earn a living and do what they love (while making money at the same time without too much 'extra' effort). Basically Ikiagi.

@arcadesdude Hardly so because if everyone just does what they like, then there's no allocation of supply against demand with the work. I strongly doubt that someone will do garbage collection and other shitty or hard jobs just because it's a hobby, and people painting pictures won't repair the roads.

i would rather have both of my asses either working(and therefore making double money) or enjoying at the same time. the economy is bad and a 3-4 days trip once in a while is enough to recharge me up and sit tight on my work chair

@Fast-Nop I agree that roads will still need repairing and garbage taken care of. People won't want to do those things but someone will have to. Some things can be done by machines but you still need people to repair the machines.

I feel some people will recognize that shit still needs to get done and will step up and do those things..they should be paid active income for those things. It doesn't exclude them from making passive income in other ways.

It would be a choice and some would choose to be responsible to help others out for those things that need doing. It seems people don't have much choice now but they do. Often their choices are limited but they always have that power to choose or perhaps power to not choose what they will do for their work. Not having to work at all would be the pipedream of the foolish utopiists.

@arcadesdude I finally checked out the first episode a few weeks ago.

And was up til 4am binging the whole first season.

It’s a fucking RIDE of a show. Definitely recommended.

@Fast-Nop I could and I would repair roads or do garbage hauling given the means. Three or four days a week.

I just like to do things without 9blogations or upfront paperwork.

So much of society is busywork and dick measuring instead of the actual tasks we're there to do.

@Wisecrack You can't do either of these activities without paperwork. The raw materials and machines for road repair won't just materialise out of nothing, and hauling the garbage "away" won't fly, either. Where would you even put it?
  • 1
@Fast-Nop I've never done road repair but I can and have cleaned up city blocks and recruited others to help.

Hauled the trash to the dump after.

Some places wont let you do that without getting permission. I'm not even joking.

That's the sort of artificial bullshot I'm opposed to, not the kind that requires an order form for necessary materials.

Of course if it's a major safety issue, licensing is important. You dont want people becoming makeshift bridge repair specialists.

But almost anyone with soem basic knowledge and asphalt can fix a pot hole the cities been ignoring for almost two years.

@Wisecrack You'd probably be chaotic good like this guy fixing a freeway sign.
