I'd team up with the raiders with the goal of becoming strategic advisor for a warlord. Making clear that I don't want his post would move me out of infights. Then aiming for establishing control over an area, basically enslaving the villagers, but also guarding them from other groups and ensuring that they can make a living so that our tax blackmailing is sustainable.
These warlords are the proto-nobility of the upcoming feudalism, but the challenge is that at that stage, there is no inheritance yet so that these small domains / proto-kingdoms come and go. They're tied to the person of the warlord, not to his family. That requires some flexibility when to shift loyalty. -
atheist98992yLookout/scout/ranger/midnight thief. I like being on my own, chase adrenaline, am fairly outdoorsy, climb. I tend to be quite lucky too.

1. Stay in my house with my food storage
2. Share with people I trust. Shoot anyone who tries to steal it or kill me or my family members
3. When I’m out of ammo, use the two compound bows and arrows I own to defend my home and to hunt
4. When all else fails, accept that this is the end and die of whatever gets me -
@Fast-Nop i love how you already have a complete plan in mind that spans your whole lifetime as well as multiple warlord dynasties xD the important thing is to always be on the winners' side

Jedidja10142yWell, since I got some small experience in repairing stuff, construction, farming, sewing, woodworking, cooking, electronics, science and stuff I think I'd find something to do.
Yes, I've been living my life at times like it's one of those RPG with a fun skill tree to explore, learning the first tier of everything that sounds remotly useful - so your scenario actually sounds like fun (aside from the whole death and doom thing) -
Rats will obviously survive because they are one of the three things that will survive an apocalypse.
One is cockroach, the second is rats, while the third is man.
I will go into rat farming and make a deal with the raiders for protection.
If I play my card right, I will trick my way to be their boss and they will just be my military -
I'd kill myself, way too much effort to change from my comfortable life to that
as a follow-up to @green-portals zombie apokalypse question.
apokalypse happened, most of humankind faded, the global economy, logistics and infrastructure collapsed, nature however seems to be okay with it. there's no electrical power available (let's say nuclear plants are fine nevertheless)
you're one of the survivors living in the post-apokalypse era, finding yourself in a settlement where technology level has fallen back to medieval times (people lack knowledge AND material supplies). The outside world is dangerous, due to human raiders and extremely violent groupings, as well as environmental hazards. what do you do for a living?
is there a place for a software engineer in this new medieval world?
