    That almost certainly won't work.

    Linux users will be like what is WannaCry ...

    @elgringo If they live in a hole and don't read the news. Much like I'm very aware of Dirty COW.

    This has affected the NHS here in the UK. Pretty bad.

    Backup your work peeps

    @drRoss I read the news, let me grab some 🍿

    The Dirty Cow you mentioned was 2016 and I assume you know that require a local user for the privilege escalation.

    WannaCry just need Windows user to click a URL.

    @elgringo even mac users 😂

    @elgringo On a system that hasn't been patched from a month ago.

    http://seclists.org/oss-sec/2016/... Hold down enter for 70 seconds and get a root shell. We could go back and forth all day.

    Don't go on like Linux is perfect. If it had even a fraction of the same market share that Windows does, it would have the same problems.

    @drRoss Linux is not perfect, don't take it personal. Enjoy your default system I will enjoin the one I have.

    Have fun

    I am glad that linux is not perfect and do not have market share as Microsoft. That's why i can use my machine without worries. I don't afraid to insert usb in my machine. I don't afraid to accidentally click on malicious link.

    @elgringo Don't talk to me about freedom unless you're running all blob-less hardware.

    @tankmohit11 Sorry, but if you're not dumb as bricks it's rather hard to get infected on windows. Never worried about using usb sticks or clicking on malicious links and had no issues at all, even when I went without any antivir for like 2 years.

    Not using windows for some time now because I pretty much had to switch for work reasons (and don't get me wrong, I'm happy with that, functioning without some form of terminal right now would be hard), but I'm pretty sure not much has changed in that matter for last couple of years. And whenever someone says their windows get's infected all the time I mostly know for sure that they're just straight up retards.

    @Zapp i used windows more than 5 years without any antivirus. I was a windows fan before i introduced myself to Linux. I don't know what actually made me switched to linux but after switching i never looked back. It gave me some sort of sense of security.

    @Zapp The terminal in Windows is PowerShell. But that's available everywhere now, even for Linux and macOS.

    And it's better than bash. 💃

    @drRoss Difficult to make a dev workstation completely free and open though. It's either ridiculously expensive (IBM power8), or kind of old/weak by 2017 standards. For a lot of tasks you could use some ARM platform I guess.
  • 4
    @drRoss how exactly is PowerShell better than bash? (Or any other nix shell)

    PS: I generally dislike bash and use the z-shell instead.

    @Zapp
    - I dont have antivirus because I never get virus!

    - Ofcourse you will think that, you have nothing to detect the virus with.

    Dont forget the "gnzh" theme

    @Linux Well, you do if you do your occasional malwarebytes, etc. checks.

    And come on, everyone of us is able to notice when his system goes haywire, or a perfectly usable machine gets unusable and slow as shit randomly without any apparent reason. Or when you get a crown of spinning rainbow dicks instead of your wallpaper, dunno what's popular right now D:

    Just saying, don't blame the system when infection is most of the time user's fault. And of course windows is the primary target with it's market share.

    @zshulu It's object based.

    @drRoss I'm glad it suits your taste then.

    @Zapp What about StuxNet? Or terrorists sleeper cells? You don't notice until everything goes wrong...

    Is this some sort of discussion about what's the best shit to use?? :') Why people? Why? There are so many things out there!! Just choose something you like and don't hate others if they don't use the same thing as you do..

    And by the way: Nothing is perfect. Nothing. There always bugs and there will always be bugs.

    SO PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT WHAT'S THE BEST THING TO USE THESE DAYS, BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A PERFECT SYSTEM!!

    The passwords are gene berated randomly. How one thinks it's so easy is mind boggling.
