A medical doctor gets fired for clearing a football player to play for not having an injury.

What does that do to the intellectual ecosystem?

These people go to college on full scholarships…to throw balls around?

I mean it sounds very silly when its put that way, but the initiation and training of a doctor is not a joke.

Why is this money being spent on football players?

I think operating tables should be televised, with announcers, and pundits, and star surgeons,

A person placing bets would need a working knowledge of the operating table if they are going to be placing bets.

We are smarter than this as people. Sports should not be just hulking drones throwing balls around.

And they should commercialize robot building too, or race to build and then race small planes…

    Well...

Sport players sell their body. You're usually up for retirement at 30… top 40. Unless you're stubborn or you were lucky to still be in great health, which is rare.

To be fair - I was and will never be interested in sports, as in my opinion it is one of the most unethical and immoral way of employment.

Don't watch anything, don't know much about it.

Given the news of sexual rape, molesting etc. in sports I feel very sad about how it's basically paying an human for giving up their humanity.

Commercialisation without any respect to human rights no matter what like Qatar are just a cherry on the top of this perverted shit show.

@IntrusionCM I wrote this rant originally but yeah much the same
I'm all for athleticism culturally it frequently developed from practice for war for example and it's good to be active

But while Olympics martial arts etc are somewhat worthwhile I don't believe in paying people to play sports in college

It causes nothing but trouble in the long run leads to favoritism corruption etc

I also don't think a smart person who has every reason to question the benefit of education in the college format working twice as hard as a roided up jock should have to compete financially with said jock

Personally I don't like the way college is structured in the USA to begin with
But the college sports aspect while fun I take some issues with

Such sports are the games parts of "bread and games" in our times. Just with less blood than back in ancient Rome, but the athletes are our equivalent of gladiators. Entertainment, social events, they fulfil these needs of a society.

While I don't watch football and the like, I am excited about the matches in the world chess championship.

"We are smarter than this as people" - that's where you are, sadly, very very wrong.
