Grumm18122yis tech in a bubble ?
I mean look at the new GPU's from amd. we haven't seen the end of the show yet. -
If you're referring to the way overbloated FaNgG companies firing the absolutely way too many engineers they had, then no, I'm not phased at all. Nor do I think it's some sort of "tech bubble".
Plenty of normal medium and small companies are still looking for good talent. -
That was what the guys that programmed the Neil Armstrong rocket said. But now everyone is a techie
-
You know I can't say
The things they advertise look fairly redundant
Like Monday.com for example
Or everything having an Android or iOS app
And then supposedly alot of software projects get intentionally sabotaged to allow rewrites
But alot of other things could be happening right now. -
@iiii it seems like there is this weird cultural shift in how developers perceive work, but maybe I’m just new to it. It’s almost as if most developers now wish they did something else with their life.

@phat-lasagna thats called having a job.
Wherever you are, expect eventually to feel trapped.
or maybe I've always felt like a prisoner.
Commitment is a rare virtue in rapidly fading world.
Individualism gave way to atomization.
The apocalypse already happened and we just didn't notice. -
@Wisecrack yeah true. I feel like you would be on the yes side of the human singularity of consciousness movement.
-
@phat-lasagna I would not, because I believe in the absolute freedom of association. Cant do that if you join the borg.
How about you? Where do you come down on the topic? -
@Wisecrack I lean more towards individuality for sure, but says from someone with a mind to survive and not to plainly exist, could the human brain thrive in a singularity? A lot of humans crave adding value to their situation so probably not.

There is still a loomig recession for 2023, it is not just about the recent layoffs.
Prepare or die. -
@hardCoding you say recession but we're technically already in a recession (more than two negative quarters).
What we're heading for is a depression.
Good as any time to go backpacking. I think we'll see 12-25% real unemployment by this time next year.
This is a weird thought, but are we on the starting or tail end of the tech bubble bursting?
