I'm cracking up...

"chatGPT will ruin the software interviewing industry!!!"

uh.... what does it tell you about our industry if a fucking ROBOT can "ruin" the interview

well, you're right. it tells you that only algorithmic robots do well and subsequently earn the top spots at software companies after interviewing.

creativity, grit, perspective, wisdom? that stuff is absolute bullshit!!! (and as a feeble human I can't figure that out in an interview anyway!!! better just have you solve leetcode problems ad naseum!!! that'll get us the best employee!!!)

god i hate the dumb fuck rat race. good thing i'm not in it anymore! peace out, girl scout✌️

    Doesn't it just show how bullshit the entire interview process is for the industry? Big companies literally hiring NPCs.

    Newsflash: It's just static analysis and it's available since late 90's, chatbot just slows you down. OCR, copy&paste to your IDE and it will warn you about same issues. If it doesn't, learn your fucking tools.

    @Demolishun I think the interview process is bullshit but at the same time I struggle to come up with ways to make it better. I think it's just naturally difficult to find ways to evaluate a candidate.

    Live coding is often said to be an unnatural environment so home assignments is often seen as the better alternative.

    In the past I'm sure some companies have imagined they could ensure home assignment were actually hand written simply by making the task specific enough to make it hard to copy paste someone else's code.

    But of course all reasonable home assignments would include a live session having to explain your code to prove you have a clue what is going on.

    @jiraTicket The way I do it - take your last ticket, anonymize, generalize, ask them to describe few solutions, select one you didn't go with, ask them to code it and narrate what they're doing like you were a five year old. This way the candidate knows what to expect at work, you know how they're thinking, you don't ask for irrelevant skills and if the solution solves the issue, they'll probably do okay at the job.

    @cprn I love that approach
