I am on a game engine telegram. The devs there are tired of people posting chatgpt generated code and asking people to debug that shit. They are getting close to banning people for mentioning chatgpt or posting chatgpt code. They keep telling people to read the api and learn how write code, and don't expect other devs who have to debug it for them.

and this is how randomdude got banned in an alternative universe where mentioning chatgpt is not allowed

Hazarth95122yNFTs were much worse. Literal scam. At least LLMs are actually kind of useful, and there is good open source community around it trying to make it free and open source, unlike NFTs which were literally only about ripping people off...
I get the frustration with ChatGPT though. My entire YouTube feed is filled with that shit (I mean it's my fault for clicking on it from time to time just to keep up to date, but damn... it's retarded)
The fact is we're not getting rid of LLMs any time soon. NFTs went away on their own (mostly) because even the dumbest idiots had to eventually understand that it's a scam, but LLMs are here to stay and ultimately we have to adapt to this situation whether we like it or not. I for one will take advantage of them wherever it makes sense to make my life easier. -
retoor121832y@iiii at the beginning I thought I didn't understand nft because it was too stupid. It couldn't be true that people were paying money for an URL to a picture. I'm very disappointed in society.

There is a difference between "web3", blockchains, crypto coins, NFTs and all that other solutions to non-existing problems - and AI language models like ChatGPT, which can actually generate passable fiction, give potential answers to questions, actually write and fix code surprisingly good and bad at the same time. And while there is no actual problem to be potentially solved by crypto finance stuff, there are shittons of pretty darn obvious use cases for AI/ML.
Sure, ChatGPT doesn't understand. But a non-dev can iteratively and with lots of patience get to a jump-and-run game without having to actually learn shit about coding. And it is or will be the same for creating music, paintings, finding stuff without correct search terms...
For normal people like me, who are really good at just a single thing, becoming able to at least use mediocre skills in other creative fields with minimal investment of time into learning to query the AI... is pretty a huge thing. -
@Demolishun The funny thing about that is: ChatGPT often can actually fix its own code. You just have to describe the problem and the already generated code has to still fit in the context. A YouTuber without any coding experience tried that and it worked.
So if someone asks for debugging ChatGPT's code - just tell em to ask ChatGPT for the fix. Chances are it will actually provide one. -
you just mentioned chatGPT. you just earned your ban.
YOU ARE ANNOYED BY CHATGPT, WE GET IT, SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY ;) -
While it is true that some tasks traditionally performed by human programmers may become automated in the future, it is important to remember that AI models like ChatGPT still require human input and oversight to function properly. Rather than viewing ChatGPT as a threat, developers and programmers should embrace it as a powerful tool that can enhance their work and productivity. By using ChatGPT to automate routine tasks, developers and programmers can focus on higher-level tasks that require human creativity and problem-solving skills. In this way, ChatGPT can actually be a valuable ally in the development process, helping to streamline workflows and free up time for more important tasks. Ultimately, the key to success in the age of AI is to embrace new technologies like ChatGPT and use them to our advantage, rather than seeing them as a threat and constantly dissing them.

reij4312ywouldn't compare those things, GPT actually is something useful. Not every trend is shit

I think we need a separate Internet where you get a fucking lifetime ban for mentioning chatgpt. It's like NFT thing but worse. People have verbal diarrhea. IT WRITES SHIT CODE, WE GET IT, SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY
