2 years ago I told myself I'd never learn PHP. 2 years later I'm a desperate college student in a town where the only web dev companies rely on PHP. I didn't want to cave and learn such an obsolete language but it's looking like I have no choice. Goodbye, innocence :'(

    Obsolete? 😬

Wait why the hell obsolete?! What's with all the fucking hate on PHP, for real. (no offense to anyone by the way 😅)

@neodite because it's hard to transition between languages in a company. Employees have to be trained, codebases rewritten, etc. There are better, more modern systems that just can't be implemented due to practicality

If that's what you believe you have a LONG way to go before you are ready for a developer job.

I don't like php, but calling it obsolete is none sense. I thought obsolete is something that is not maintained, developed or used. php is being actively maintained, developed and used.

What is your argument for calling it obsolete?

I'm not a fan of php at all but of all the things I could call it, obsolete is not one of them.

What makes php bad is the shittones of poorly written stuff connected to it in some way. Good code is good code regardless of the language.

I'd recommend learning the basics to the point where you can build stuff and then moving to some sort of framework.

I love PHP, it's a joy to use, but then again I enjoy most languages.
But like someone else said, you can write good and bad code with any language.

    OBSOLETE????
People I think he got that he shouldn't call PHP obsolete. Don't think saying the same thing 27times is going to help.

I work in the office with PHP too and I must say that the new php is very different from the one most people think. And its good.

This is what trends makes people believe. I had tens of conversations like this:

Somebody: what programming language are u using?

    Me: PHP mostly

Sb: Lol, php is not a programming language

Me: why do you think so?

Sb: I dunno... I heard so...

    Me: -.-'
