In the Future you will be convicted to hard labour for attempted hacking under the UN Anti Cybercrime resolution of 2026.

Huuugo25057y@heyheni why 2026? They already have life sentences for hackers. And for the really smart guys there's always guantanamo, where you don't even have to give ppl a trial

iAmNaN68457y@heyheni they actually give one an opportunity to become a white hat hacker, instead of prison time. I have a friend who had to do that. Worked out quite well for him; no prison and a job he enjoyed doing. I don't recommend going that route, though, just in case they don't need another WHH.

Root797707yI really hate "cyber crimes" laws, especially in the uk. They're often written by people that have no fucking clue about technology, and they're harsh as hell.
A bit of a strawman, but: If you point out a security flaw, you can go to jail. Likewise, if someone just says you hacked them, you can get everything confiscated. If you write software that inadvertently contains a vulnerability and someone exploits it to cause damage, it's possible you can also be found guilty. It's ridiculous.
Ignorant fools blindly attacking the scary unknown.
(Yet "Big Brother"-like behavior is totally acceptable? Wtf?) -
@Ashkin shit like this happens in France too. While I'm finishing my studies I'm looking for a country that's got more common sense regarding this topic, northern Europe seems fine

Best friends sister asked me if I could hack a phone or a router or something for her. Asked if the owner was alright with it. She said yes. Asked her for a picture of the interface. She sent me three pictures:
IPhone interface
Router interface
Blackberry phone interface.
