Almost all the applications i've checked requires cisco or some kind of certifications.

pajaja17337yFor sys admin positions I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially if you know what you're doing. Most of the time it's just a bonus, not mandatory. Also getting a entry level Cisco certification is not that hard, especially with the actual curriculum. You should check out their CCNA Security track and find the tutorials from INE or IPExpert for that certification.

pajaja17337y@hellgorithm No worries, I hold multiple certifications from Cisco and Juniper (I actually do service provider networks, programming is just a passion) so if you want to know anything about their certification process or it's certification tracks in general feel free to ask. As @Linux said, CCNA is not highly valued because there are a lot of people that got it by learning brain dumps and don't know shit, so depending how networking is important to you, you might want to go for something higher (CCNP) afterwards.
Related Rants
Right now I enjoyed being SysAdmin and PenTester more than programmng...but I doubt I can get a job without certification from either of those field.
