watching the online course for CEH... dude used the Death Star as a tangible example of how exploits work.
IDK if I should love it for the nerdiness, or be slightly sad that someone needs that type of example of what a vulnerability vs an exploit is, when they're going for the Certified Ethical Hacker certification...
Might be better in an introduction to Network Security class?

Also, while discussing the security, usability, and functionality triangle, he reference the Staples "Easy Button" - does one thing, not very secure, and not very functional (in that it has more than one function)...

Started working as a developer about 2 months ago and on the first day of of work I was tought how to make coffee.

I couldn't understand why is coffee so important to the everyone in the company. I didn't drink the coffee for the first 2 week.

Now after many sleepless nights spent coding i then realise why the people worship the drink so much.

People get very pissed when they go to coffee machine and find that there is no coffee then the last person to have a cup is going to be shouted at and at times even get insulted.

Now coffee is my fuel and cant do much without it.

Do well in my first job as a dev. Very excited. 😜😜

Started my new job as a devops engineer, its been al month and i have never seen the seen of aws console or travis ci, dont even have credentials for any company cloud services.

I guess i should change my job title to backend dev

I'm studying for a CEH certification so I can enter a computer security competition that my school is holding, and I have to cram the whole subject in my head.

Before anyone asks why, I have a great interest in the subject and its fun to learn the problem is the amount I have to learn in such little time

My teacher also wanted me to enter so I could go up against the guy who almost placed in nationals last year, and he thinks I can do it, many people do. looking at it realistically if I crammed it all and reviewed I could place in regionals which is the goal.

Right now I enjoyed being SysAdmin and PenTester more than programmng...but I doubt I can get a job without certification from either of those field.

Just had a so called "cyber security" seminar in college today.
The guy who claimed to be a trainer or somewhat network security guy or something behaved enigmatically with utter consistency. He obviously claimed to know facebook hax0ring though.
They were basically there to advertise their complete crap: csksrc.org
(Ethical Hax0ring Course) (also claimed their site to be 99.9% secured - GREAT!)
After obtaining a ISO*** standard cert or after taking multiple sessions on "advanced ethical hacking" if you go about telling peeps in colleges that: "The single way to hax0r a facebook account is CSRF!" "Will hack your facebook account by MITM through malicious WiFi Ap." Then, NO neither I want your shitty cert nor do I want to be in your team and create the next level of "advanced ethical hax0ring - CEH course". Reason why I get cringed when peeps start about their certs and the ISO*** value it contains. What ISO value does your brain cells contain though?

I've played around with Kali/Parrot and setup a proxmox box to perform pen testing and have a fair number of PDF ebooks and audio books on networks, security and pen testing

I just signed up for the preparation course for the Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certificate. Does anybody have experience doing this course? or has maybe some tips for the exam? or any learning suggestions?
I‘ve decided not to get a CEH certificate because its just too theoretical, the OSCP is way more practical and i think there is way more to learn from this course/exam

I just started learning how to code and am very frustrated trying to find a degree to go into. I'm interested in becoming a Web Developer but the idea of being a CEH intrigues me also. I have hoed around in different technologies during my university life, Web dev, game dev, cybersecurity (even got a CEH certificate, the training wasn't adequate tho and it's an expensive field needing all those certs), tried blockchain, machine learning but at the end, I haven't gotten anything done. No big projects.... well, apart from a miniproject that extracts text from videos, doesn't work half the time (T-T), No internships...no experience, nothing. I was really, reaaally dumb xD

Now, in my 4th and final year of university , I have decided to settle on Web development (MERN) with game dev on the side (leisure activities), but I need advice.

Before deciding my path, I enrolled in the year-long ALX Software Engineering course. I'm in my 6th month. It promises access to The Room, where they say job opportunities that aren't shared publicly exist. Problem with the course, tho, is they rush, and I don't get time to consolidate what I learn in the course. I feel like i am not gaining anything (first few months were cool). I am on the verge of giving up cos I found solace in FullStackOpen. It teaches MERN, is self-paced, and ergo gives me time to build my portfolio and has a nice community. I know what to do (quit and focus on my portfolio and projects cos my CV is crap ), but advice from you all could really help. Thanks in advance seniors, this little brother appreciates it.
