m12i5057yDefine "average", much depend on functionality and what the client had to control. That being said, an "average" website it's 100€ [120$] per page (I live in northern Italy).
-
Sadly there's no such thing as average. Where you live, what the going rate is, how much dev you actually have to do and a million other things. Me? I usually charge by the hour because I'll tend to work with people over a period. That can sometimes suit both parties, so be flexible.

Froot75407y@jAsE What do you think this is? Quora? Actually, let me tell you a story about that. Me and my father once went into a cabin out in the wilderness so we could fish for the weekend. It was autumn, the leaves were just starting to fall and the forest looked just amazing. While we were walking down to the lake he told me a story about how he used to go fishing with is father. He talked about all those rosy autumn evenings together in the cabin with no-one else but them, some father-son talk and copious amounts of hard booze.... Wait what was I going to talk about again?

@jAsE forget it, i knew this gonna happen because you are developers and the question is by it's nature unprecise. And as i've learned here on devRant Devs need/love precision. 😄

Wack61957yDepends on how big the site is. Depends on if they bring a design, a theme or expect me to get that too. Depends on if they let me use a tool, I see fit for it or insist on Wordpress. depends on if they are getting a hosting through me or not. So there isn't a one fit all. However I would start for something simple at 500.-, with a CMS somewhere in the region of 1'000-1'500, depending on their needs. If it's something big, usually between 6'000-12'000. but then on the otherhand, Switzerland is very expensive.

How much is the company worth?
What kind of features are they after?
What kind of additional features will you give them because a static website is nonsense in the 21st century?
What's their budget and how much is your rent?
Usually answering these questions gives you a good answer for:
- what their budget is
- your lowest offer
- the amount of time you expect to spend on it.
Find some middle ground there, your time*rent is the lowest, their value/percentage increase in revenue once you're done is what it's worth to them... find the middle ground and that's what your charge. -
spacem18367yAt my work they paid some design company $10k aud to rebuild our old Wordpress website. The design company then came back saying they needed more money to finish the site but the person who wanted it redesigned left our company so the new site was never finished.
-
@spacem yep. Sounds about right.
At my work they're spending millions moving the sites from their current static position to a CMS and AWS.
The last website I built (with a team) technically cost someone a quarter million, but most of that is costing all the different people into cost codes and time codes.
You charge based on what both parties need out of the deal... I used to do pro-bono for local shops because I could use it to build my portfolio and it helped them sell... you should always aim for the win-win situation. -
cr782817ySo i recently made my first client website. It's 5 simple static pages with just basic html and css. Some text and images. No cms, no backend. Charged 250€ (about 270$) for it, but for future projects i won't do anything under 400€
-
@cr78 cheap and sounds like a good deal for both people, well done.
Have you discussed the long term running costs with your client? I'd expect domains and servers to cost more than you charged. -
@cr78 with stakeholder & competitor analysis, writing a concept, creating content and designing & coding + SEO marketing? 1000 € is cheap.
