Tell them what will hapen, in a written form and have them sign it. Specially SSL & Security stuff. That way, they can't blame you when shit hit the fan, as you pointed it out and they decided to go along, plus they'll rethink their position, as they are responsible in that event, so their jobs are on the line. Works wonders sometime.
