I'm a soon-to-be intern, what would be your advice for me to avoid pissing off the other employees?
-
thiemok737y@oscarascal Just ask them how they handle it and then do it that way. Also use feature branches or ideally git flow

hift147yi like the rainbow. what software is it? i use sourcetree and the color isn't that pretty

thiemok737y@itsdaniel0 no its free for everyone, execpt for enterprise use.
Don't know about bugs, just trying it atm. Any specific things that didn't work for you? -
@thiemok I had branching issues. It liked to create another branch with the same name if it ever fell behind 😂
Where that was just it's way of saying I was behind, I don't know. It was an odd concept though
Just use the command line now -
gnaaah9847y> Just use the command line now.
@itsdaniel0 I can't tell how many times I heard that sentence^^ -
purist12167yI am guilty of doing the same during my last work . 39 commits for some changes in a shell script and makefile . How can we make the unimportant commits to disappear ?

duongdev697y@itsdaniel0 gitkraken is now much better than when I began with it. Just got a pro account for free with my github education account

Shodan4987yI've used GitKraken for a little over a year since I was just beginning with Git and needed something more beginner-friendly to learn the ropes. It's fine for everyday use, despite some people's insistence that command line is the way to go, which to me can sound like asking for human catastrophic errors to happen or just plain elitist, depending on the person and tone.
Using a GUI for simple tasks and better visualization does not exclude me just hitting Alt+T to open a terminal and doing more advanced work like reflog, bisect or interactive rebasing (and knowing what those are and how to use them) - I for one don't have to do those types of operations on a day-to-day basis.
