Just heard someone pronounce XML as "saml" today.

Is this how the other half lives?

    I've heard "zamel"

Saml is pronounced by word XAML

Or maybe they were actually talking about SAML (security assertion markup language)? It's an xml based authentication standard.

Sorry guys, adjusting to a new life at a Microsoft based company. I was sitting there thinking this guy was crazy. 😅

"saml" should actually be referring to SAML

Depends, do they pronounce SQL as sequel?

Since you've mentioned Microsoft now, I'm pretty sure they were taking about XAML. I've watched videos from their Build conference and they say zamel in there all the time. You get used to it ☺️

@MissDirection The nightmares I get from OpenID Connect are nothing compared to the horrors of implementing SAML correctly.

Security, IDP & SSO is such a hopelessly complicated shitshow.

Well if Christmas is XMAS then XML should be... Christmel?

@bittersweet I've found OIDC to be pretty straightforward once you get your head around it. With the right libraries most of the complexities of the authentication flows should be abstracted away. ASPNET Core has really good support out of the box.

I was pronouncing Xfce like "X face", instead of "X.F.C.E."

    Am I the only one?
