    And, have you found one?

    @DjWawa I think so, gotta do some review checking still though :)

    Yep. I have a Samsung A5.. sketchy root method that I found on some kid's YouTube channel worked. There is like 0 room support tho.

    But reading your last rant, it might actually be a good choice for you. (If you don't mind having to delete oem apps) I got it for free here in Canada. It is probably a reasonable price over there.

    @ewpratten Thinking about getting the UMI (fuck forgot the model name, let me get back on that one)

    @linuxxx Get smartphone that's powered by Snapdragon SOC as they have great Dev support due to Open-source support by Qualcomm!

    @linuxxx I recently ordered one from dx.com - 180 euro ish, good specs (cpu isnt amazing, but p good). Coolpad Cool Play 6. The name is wonky af, but good specs and decent look. :3 also couple root methods I found.
    Could be something to look at?

    @Haxk20 My Max is 200 :/

    @PaddiM8 Hey then you'll experience how iPhone users often feel! :P
  • 1
    @PaddiM8 Absolutely the same for personal usage! For work I'd use it but then it wouldn't be my choice so yah :P

    nexus / pixel are the best for tinkering
  • 2
    @dhanvi Fuck pixel because it's heavily Google integrated imo but they're both above my price range :/
  • 2
    @linuxxx I feel the same about pixel but the Nexus 6P is reeeeally good. The modding is absolutely great as well. There are some really interesting stuff being developed for it, like copperhead. Oh and before I forget what's DDG, I assume it's a phone modding forum?

    @Numinex

    Duck Duck Go

    @linuxxx phone with system developed by Google have Google services integrated? Oh, those bastards, what were they thinking.
  • 1
    @afrometal Oh I am not saying that that's weird or bad, just saying that that's the reason I won't be using it :)
  • 1
    @Charon92 Do they have at least 3-5 gb ram and are they under 200 euro? If yes, 😍

    Mines is:

    Filter(Android only)
    Filter(Price BETWEEN 300 AND 450)
    Compute(Specs/Price)
    Sort(SP DESC)

    @Jop- Well tbh iOS, android and WP are all pretty easily hackable. Next to that, it's my device so I would think I'd be entitled to decided what happens to it, on software level as well and for that i'd need root!

    Getting a remote access shell is too easy through either exploit kits/malicious apps on all platforms. Source: my experience with pentesting :). @wolt Also, how's riot working out for you? :D
  • 1
    @wolt Ah fair enough yah! I've created a private chat which you should see (or the invite probably) when you enter the app!
  • 1
    OnePlus 5?
  • 2
    @wolt yay it's working

    @linuxxx almost all phones can be rooted. I almost always end up with a Sony or Motorola as they offer an option to unlock your bootloader

    Me with Pixel XL be like

    @uniquesmash Yas!
  • 1
    nexus 5 is pretty good, everything unlockable, and would fit your budget
  • 4
    @kb88 pretty outdated. No more security updates. Not talking about OS or battery life after this time.
  • 1
    @afrometal still using it with lineageOS (Android 7.1.2, pretty sure it will get Oreo too), there are regular security updates, battery life is still ok after ~3.5 years (and further improved through lineageOS) and performance is still better than on most actual non-flagship phones out there

    So many OnePluses and no Google phone... wow

    Btw I have an OPO... so it's only worth $100 now...

    Lineage is nice though it randomly reboots sometimes....
