To all the developers with a permanent job:

Do you guys still reference the web when working on a project or you know everything and code everything perfectly w/o help?

Just wanted to know if I need more practice with my skills or am I good to go.

    I can't think of anyone who doesn't always have at least one tab dedicated to stack overflow

    You'll never know anywhere close to everything. There are so many gotchas in our field. So the Internet is awesome :)

    Even if you or someone you work with has run into something similar before, chances are that, unless it's pretty basic, they won't remember (or understand) exactly how they fixed it or got around it.

    Stack overflow is your best friend. I have coding for 7 years now and i still go to SO regularly.

    Google is every developers friend

    Are you kidding? The only time I don't look up stuff on the Internet is the one test I had in the one class in college where they told us we'd have to program for 3 hrs in a room not connected to the Internet. I look up stuff every day for sure, and I've been doing this dev thing a number of years.

    I use DuckDuckGo a lot, but yes of course. Right now I'm working with something that can't really be searched much unfortunately.

    @dpmacneil I hate that

    been at the same company for 4 years now doing the same stuff since I started. and while I'm going to Google less since I started its still fairly common. my boss who's owned the business for 12 years told me when I started "if you don't know, Google it" because after 12 years of owning his own company he still has to Google shit.

    "...or do you know everything and code everything perfectly without help" 😄😄😄 Man, I would to meet the dude who fits this criterion.

    My 2 cents: Recently started using a new web framework and there are about 12 tabs open with search queries and solutions I am yet to try.

    every day I hit some issue and think "there has to be a better way to do this" and usually I always find some way that's better by way of google or SO

    I had someone ask me what I do at my job. I replied "Google."
