@linuxxx I use signal, I have almost managed to convince all of my friends / relatives to use signal instead of WhatsApp.
I guess ricochet would be a bit overkill :) -

@linuxxx wohoo, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one liking Riot (matrix)!
I also like the concept of ricochet but it's a pain on multiple devices. There should be some kind of id merging/grouping. -

@ewpratten afaik it does all its messaging and notifications via Google messaging services. So while it's e2e encrypted Google knows all the meta data.

@needToRoll I used it for a while. But while it is hard to get other people to use free (as in speech and beer) it is even harder to get them pay for an app.

Solely because closed source can't be verified which is bad in general. -

Gotta say, I find it awesome that I can connect with some devRanters through encrypted channels.
