Ok dev's, im proposing a small movement for windows 10 mobile, if you have used windows 10 mobile personally, you will know it is actually a fantastic operating system that is super snappy and easy to develop for (No i'm not a microsoft fan boy, far from actually).

The only downfall of the OS is the app support, so im proposing devs come together and create quality apps and games for win 10 mobile.

Hopefully this can sort of persuade others into a revolution of sorts (And hopefully change microsofts mind of abandoning it), I personally will support windows 10 mobile for every game I create, within reason.

I use a lumia 640 as main phone and I love it, has everything I need: WhatsApp, a browser and an unofficial app for my pebble and great battery life
But Microsoft clearly said they aren't going to keep investing on it

@exelix which is really unfortunate, purchased a Lumia 650 just for dev purposes and really would like to get a 950 to dev with continuum.

I'm really hoping some miracle happens and Microsoft change their minds

Also I just read that even Gameloft is removing some games from the store

@BigMacca101 I doubt there will be a miracle maybe with the new windows on arm thing, but who knows

Also I enabled continuum on my phone, nothing special, your app shows like it is on win 10 desktop

    @exelix oh ok haha

Well I'm hoping windows on arm does turn out good, I honestly had hoped windows 10 mobile would have morphed with windows 10 S, I think that would have streamlined it a little

@BigMacca101 I have seen rumors about Andromeda which should use windows 10S but idk I guess we'lll see

@GodHatesMe awesome to hear, an OS is only dead when the devs stop supporting, not the manufacturer

Too late.. Love(d) it, unfortunately nadella killed it, let's hope for windows on arm next year, really don't like android

Had one Windowsphone, a nokia lumia 1020. it was great. Well the hardware at least, the windows os sucked, bigtime. Became unresponsive and crashed. However I think it was still 8.1 or something so not sure how it's now.

Didn't MS anounce they're working on android app support for windows mobile?

@Wack that idea failed i think. They've done it with IOS and facebook/instagram and it's shit. FB Messenger is almost unusable.

I'll keep using my L830 till one of us drops dead.

@Wack 8.1 was the best as speed and reliability, maybe your phone had some problem ... 10 took lot of time to become good

they were working on a way to install apk, but unfortunately it caused performance problems in the long run

@nikola1402 ios poring works in different way, basically you can import your objective-c code in vs and it will compile a native windows app... facebook doesn't use the bridge developed by MS, but their own and sucks

I was always interested in the windows phone. Family members had it and their only complains were lack of apps basically.

I'm afraid this ship has sailed now. Too late to save it.

    I did like it...
But it did become too... boring imo lol
It was snappy, worked great, pretty much zero crashes,
But I cudnt get myself to like Metro UI

I used a OnePlus 3 after it... it was great... many options and worked cool...

Now I use iPhone... much different from android, but it has its own good things so... m fine 😅

But I really had high hopes for Windows mobile 😞😞

Guys I was thinking if we turn this to a uwp movement (desktop, 2in1, mobile, xbox, hololens, surface hub, iot...) I'm definitely in!!!
  • 0
@dontbeevil that would be a great idea, start releasing more quality apps and games to the UWP market, give users more options and hopefully cleanup the store a little
  • 1
@BigMacca101 we could setup a github (or similar) open source repo with apps, controls, samples...

@dontbeevil I like where this is going!
