Bought two hp z230 and one hp z210 to setup as a kubernetes cluster at home.
The first two worked as expected to install Ubuntu 18.04 but the z210 just fails installation just at the end of.
I've updated the bios, I've tried different hard drive, (obvious I've turned off secure boot), I've downgraded the bios, I've cursed, spoken harch language at it and sprinkled it with holy water, still it fails.
A Google search the problem, one hit similar to my problem but it did not help me.
Currently I'm on my 5:the glass of wine, if not solved tomorrow I'm hiding it at work until the next "downsizing" and it will have an accedent from the 9:the floor.
I've spent 150$ on it but I have the economy to nurture my mental health... Not all the time but this time it feels worth it!!!3
Hmm... API and how to use it:
The Average Price Index gives you an idea how much raise you need just to keep your current purchase power.
Taking care of someone else's children without experience of doing such task feels like following a log file live without the severity field filled in.4
Have them in a bar.
The important stuff the first 30 min.
Discussions that just needs to be aired until everyone is satisfied or bar closes.
I saw this movie today where an antisocial guy just wanted to be left alone. When this didn't work he produced a scheme to change his environment to his liking using many cool inventions.
He seemed like your average developer but about one hour into the movie I saw something that only happens in movies.
He actually met the deadline of stealing all presents by dec 25 morning, I mean... No deadline extensions!1
I bought my first digital assistent an echo dot3 two days ago, today I asked her the laws of robotics.
She started naming them in numerous order, starting at 0 😍6
On Monday the boss says this needs to be done by Wednesday.
I get it done and mid Wednesday I tell my teammates, it's done, and I've done my 40 hours this week. See you next week. Bye!1
You can't trust estimates that two month ago me said!
He was young, foolish and full of hope.1
I'm on vacation and we wanted VPN connections back to Sweden to access some sites thats only available in Sweden
So I setup a raspberry pi as access point using hostapd and openvpn from there.
So we have two wireless network options where we are: fast unsecure or slow and from Sweden, just choose what you are going to do on the device that you connect with.
Tablets, computer, phones and so on.
1 unlimited money
2 magic bug fixer elf
3 realized there were no point for me to do anything any more so wish to undo the first two.2
20 years ago, January 25:th 1999, The Dilbert TV show had premiere.
Still a lot of the problems they bring up is valid today.
A few years ago I configured my wifi extender.
Got everything working as I wanted.
Changed password to my favorite 24char password.
Can't login again...
Meh... It's working as I want and is secure, not even I can login.
It's still running in this state.3
So today was going to be the Sunday when I finally connected my smart TV though my raspberry pi to access my network and have it connect to the internet.
My TV is 6 years old, so it doesn't have built in wireless, it does not recognize normal Wifi dongles so you have to buy a LG special one for ~120$ to get hat to work, so my previos solution: screw that, one chromecast + 1 osmc raspberry pi3 and I can do more than what the software build in the TV could do.
But my wife really wanted to be able to play netflix directly on the TV without using her phone so I thought:
If I connect my TV via LAN cable to my raspberry pi it should be able to forward traffic via the built in wireless on the raspberry and be able to have internet connection.
OK, its Sunday, my wife it out, I haven't done anything with iptables in the last 5+ years but I have google and should be able to figure it out eventually:) time to start this home improvement project!!!
OK, lets just check online if there is someone else who had similar idea as a place to start.
... quick google search:
Hmm, in your OSMC, go to teathering, "wifi to ethernet" and enable.
I try it and it works!
5 min and one short ethernet cable was all that were required.
It feels like I cheated and won the game without any effort, and what should I now do with the rest of the day?
I have two servers, a work station and a laptop always running in a small room. It's normally "warm" but now when it's been 32+C (90+F) outside it's been hot. I even had someone at the door who wished to go into that room, there were something about a gold ring with strange markings. These were short fellows without shoes and very large and hairy feet.
I wouldn't let them in and then suddenly a skinny balding fellow jumps out of nowhere, stole the ring and run away.
Anyway... Strange day (or is the heat getting to me)1
Do something physical where I can see the result.
Paint that bookshelf that I would do one day. Organize the big pile of mess in the storage, plant something in the garden. Something where you are reminded when you see it: ohh I fixed that and feel proud.
Organize ones and zeroes are sometimes a bit abstract for the primitive brain to give that fulfillment feeling.1
Fuck you apple!!!
I wanted to add some old audiobooks I have in mp3 format to my wife's Iphone...
Ok, connect it to the computer. No direct file transfer. Start iTunes...updates... Import library..ok.. it's imported locally but sync then???
Sync purchases.. no
Mark stuff and move.. no way (got it playing in chrome somehow when trying to unmark everything)
Got to "buy stuff now page".. close it iTunes.. start it again and come back to same page..
Then I.. shamefuly Google "transfered audiobook iPhone" and got all the pages how to sync when you already bought items from appstore...
Eventually I transfered the files folder by folder. There is probably a better way to do this but I were at the ends of my rope so I archive this as a narrow win.2
Hmm. My wireless mouse stopped working when I connected my phone to the USB port.
Solution: have phone fully charged before connecting it.1
English is my second language. Today I learned Fedora is not just a Linux distro. It's also a name of a hat.
Guess the old logo made sense.8
