So I have been temporarily assigned to new team .. moving from mainly backend.. to help the Web team ..
Me .: Aight guys .. what we working with ?
Team: MVC .net
Me: awesome ..
Team: but we have our own version of MVC .
Me : 🤔 your own MVC ?
Team: yeh we only buse controllers.. but no models at all ?
Me.: 😲 So where does the view gets its data from ?
Team : from Azure functions apps.
M: how ?
T: ( in very proud tone ) .. we use js to call all functions.
M: so why not just use HTML pages . Why MVC then !
T: coz MVC is modern architecture design.
M: but you not using it and all of calles to the functions are exposed publicly.
T: 🧐 THIS IS MODERN DESIGN !!
M: 🤪 My bad .. what the hell do I know ! I only been developing MVC applications for 7 years !!
Please tell me more about your " Modern Design "

Rant!!
Girlfriend call me while am at a meeting.
I mute my phone...
She calls again and again for the 3rd time back to back. I leave the meeting stating this might be important..
I answer the call...
Me: hey babe , all okay ?
She: you’re busy ?
Me: yeah sorta , tell me wassup ?
She : if you’re busy then it’s okay we can talk later
Me: it’s all right . Are you okay ?
She : yes, but if you’re busy we can talk later ..
Me :(FUCKKKKKKKK THIS FUCKING FUCK WOMEN LOGIC, HOW THE FUCK DO YOU EXPLAIN THIS)
The above statement was said internally
Me:(in reality) you sure babe? I’ve left the meeting so I can talk..
She: nothin much I was suppose to be in your area in a couple of hours so wanted to know if you could meet26 -
Boss man: your code has issues , you should strive to have lesser bugs.
Me: GTA was made due to a bug in the their code.
*mic drop, leaves office, clapping heard in background*

This genius made his very own super-flexible-and-versatile-never-seen-before-mvc-framework, with no documentation about the code, instead of just donwloading and implementing a popular one.
He left the company.
I maintain it.
Fell my pain.18 -
Making fun of a skinny/fat person working out is like making fun of an uneducated man trying to learn6

This dude is using 4 screens for work. When I asked for another screen at work,
I can't convince my boss for 2, FML
To the dude who got 4 screens, congratulations, and sorry I used your image without permission. BTW

Fuck the incompetent and "pretentious psuedo devs" !!
I have been developing a web portal for a student club for this really big company (as intern) and then they assign this fuckin group of these 4 stupid intern devs to work with me !
The fuckin tweked my code and redirected the CONTACT FORM to the fuckin LOGIN CONTROLLER !!
Then these sons of Einstein inserted dummy users without a username and password into the fuckin production site !!
Now each fukin time someone submits contact form is redirected into some random user account !!
Who the fuck needs Hackers when we have these legendary coders -_-11 -
Recently I tried to apply for a job and the company sent me a task to complete. It was on Java, write an app to sort input file with ability to choose a method and dislpay it. GUI with Swing or JavaFX. They said normally it will took 8-10 hours to complete it and they wanted to see, what I can do in 4hrs. So after 4 hrs I've done~75% and sent it and after 2 more I've sent the whole app with monkey-proof protection (validations, prompts, etc). So total of 6hrs. I've followed MVC structure and implemented OOP principles.
They liked it and this Thursday I'm having an interview 😊
Wish me good luck :D6 -
Nose picking manager.
I mean this fucker picks his nose even when he’s talking face to face,
And am not talking about just cleaning it,am talking about putting the finger in all the way and probably trying to dial a number...6 -
So my CEO wants me to move to architecting systems!!!!!!!! My dream since a kid !!!
It seems like a mad job where you're a crazy scientist 😂
What should I read or do to be better ? -
First time dealing with front and backend web programming. Any advice or tutorials that can help me get on the track with good MVC? I hate having a giant discombobulated mess of an index.php file19
-
Legends -> I: Interviewer
I: what is mvc architecture
Me: model.. view.. controller... and blah blah
I: mvc is not an architecture.. its a design pattern.. architecture is blah blah
I: srry U r rejected.. god bless you
Me: 😥😢
after 1hr
Me: googled 'Is mvc a design pattern or architectural pattern'
Google: shows stack overflow link
Stackoverflow: mvc is architectural pattern blah blah... accepted answer
Me: hopeless about my future

People here are arguing about a guy using MS word as a HTML IDE,
My boss once showed me how blind people read "colors" by running his fingers over the phone screen.2 -
I'm working on the project with the weirdest combination of technologies ever:
Vue.js on the frontend, FORTRAN 77 on the backend. :D

I feel like a e-hoarder, I keep tabs and sublime windows open and worry about closing them as they might contain important code...

Same situation as my previous rant.
Was building the dynamic page loader thing (basically mvc part) but it just DIDN'T FUCKING WORK.
As a last resort I chose the views to render based on a few if-else's 😅
Hacky as hell but it saved me from doom! -
Junior coder says validation is not needed on asp.net mvc form pages because it is not in the requirements or part of the definition of done. Wants to argue about it. Refuses to do it. Says I am over optimizing or some shit like that. Good luck with that. If you can't figure that one out or listen to feedback perhaps you should become a project manager not a programmer.11

Bugfix. About two years ago. Old C# codebase, MVC project... A fucking piece of it was sending money to the wrong Dynamics account, FOR TWO FUCKING YEARS.
Anyway...4 -
So, my UpWork account request is rejected, with a reason that
"already many freelancers with a similar skillset to yours".
In skills I entered
"AngularJS, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Framework, C#, jQuery, Semantic UI, Bootstrap"
Then I resubmitted the request with by adding blockchain and Ethereum.
Again rejected.
What should I do 😫
I guess I never can start freelancing.21 -
"Don't bother spending time learning MVC. We'll never use it here."
o_O
Well, that was 4 years ago, I'm still working here, they're not, we're using MVC.5 -
Hmmm there are several
Senior dev would leave for weeks(he was company co owner) and would blame shit not being done on me even though he gave me no access to his codebase. Shit back fired right in his face.
Senior dev called me an idiot(different company) for stating that I learned about MVC from Rails. I have no clue what triggered that reaction, but the way he said it really ticked me off. It was on a remote position, left soon, the dude was s cunt.
Next goes for my office: we yell random shit all the time, from racist to sexist to all around disturbing because we are constantly unsupervised.
Head of department knows:P he laughs with us. -
Inb4 2 question ahead
1. So in another 2 weeks I’ll be getting a new storage to upgrade my laptop, and since I will be developing C# both MVC and ASP.net should I stick to windows or there is a linux distro I could try using. Probably will dual booth if I have to use windows, so friendly linux is nice
2. For the storage I’ll be getting 860 EVO 250gb, any feedback? Also 4gb ram for the upgrade3 -
CEO : this Facebook app has this great feature .
Me: yep, it’s really useful
CEO : can we make something like this in ours too ?
Me : we can sure try using this(x) method.
CEO : cool, I’ll add this into the sales team memo , and btw, it needs to be done in 2 days,
Me : but... but ...2 -
Went back to KDE over the weekend from i3wm. I was getting tired of having to configure my setup manually everytime I wanted to change a setting, and having things break, and having to bug fix said breaks, while also trying to handle Java MVC and node.js dev work.
Nope. Too much. I want the macOS experience but with the control of Linux. Much happier with KDE. It does use about 720MB more RAM on an average session but when you have 8GB does it really matter?
Now to figure out how to get Firefox to play nice with Plasma, or give Konqueror a spin.15 -
Today we had our "web technology" University exam. One question was to write a sample html program for our university's website.
I swear I could've built a fully functioning website on MVC and hosted it on some cloud service in far less time than that I spent scribbling 5 pages of writing HTML/CSS/JS so that I can "pass the exam". But nooooo. Our university syllabus takes IE and Java servlets as standard and apparently you get bonus marks if you could implement IE's Active-X on paper.
So much for the future web development4 -
Copy paste from the internet, usually stack overflow without knowing what the fuck the lines do.
I saw this girl who was tasked with building a spring mvc application and she literally googled(yeah googled) "spring mvc web app" and copied from the first tutorial site and pasted it.
When errors showed up she copied everything from the second link and pasted it ... Wait for it... Without deleting the old copy but commenting it out so each file had 100 lines of code and 100 lines of comment9 -
I couldn’t get a dev duck ,
So here comes Dev Spider-Man!!!
Well he’s obviously good at coding , cos you know , he works on the web 🤣3 -
Big rant.
Just finished my first year of uni. I took an extra course on c# (mvc, entity framework) and android development in java. We learned a lot of stuff and at the end of the semester they held a contest. We had to develop an app respecting their specifications and add something from ourselves for extra points. Problem was that we were supposed to work on the project during our finals, which we didn't, finishing uni is on the first place. But we had a week after finals to work on it. I, like many others, slept very littlre during that week, only to work on that app, I worked for more than 13 hours a day to finish it (it was a pretty big app) and I was pretty happy with the end result. Today they were supposed to announce the apps that made it to the final. They just announced that no app deserves to be in the final. They know that we had finals, but that we could still do better. They just peed on our work, probably threw our code away, fucking +13 hours a day, 5-6 hours of sleep everyday, almost no fun for a whole week after finals, and they think no one deserves to win. Fuck them, fuck their shit contest. Fuck you essensys, I hope your devs read this, fuck you bell ends.5 -

- Why don't you use jQuery and Ajax instead of Vue?
- jQuery, nor Ajax, is not really an MVC.
- Yes, it is.
My face: 😟3 -
I use an MVC based framework mostly aaaand I'm very fucking lazy sometimes soooo I just run the db functions in the view very often yeah just because lazy really 😄4

When I got to learn about json yesterday I hate it cause I need to do extra work to MVC project. But after today the instructor told us what it does, and I love it. Gonna start learning this stuff more tomorrow1

So I wrote code to show the FUNCTIONALITY of my module , which has temporary variables and temporary code.
Boss after verifying : so it's done right ?
Me: no the code needs to be written .
Boss : but it's working...

Boss : so it'll be done in 15 minutes right ?

Apparently DELETE and... most of the HTTP verbs are disabled by default in IIS (ASP/ MVC/ Microsoft server software)
Am I wrong in saying that's fucking bullshit?!
Why make an HTTP serving environment with a massive array of tools to help you do everything you need in the web environment... And then DISABLE some of the web protocol??? What???
Not even the obscure verbs. DELETE. Is microsoft the type of bitch to delete using a GET request?? I bet the send passwords as get parameters.8 -
I started working for a company something around 1-2 months ago, they said because I don't have any experience with their stack, my salary will be lower than other team members. I said there is no problem and started my work. My first task was refactoring codes that their experienced programmers have wrote. My second task was extracting data layer from views. (They use Laravel and MVC architecture and they get data directly in views, not controllers). So, by end of the month when I talked with my boss I said I should get more money because I was better than your experienced programmers. He refused my request so I said I will not work with your team anymore :)
Anyway, never accept a job if you know you deserve more money than what they say will give you.
P.S: Sorry for my bad English. English is not my native language5 -
Learning to use Lightroom,

The hardest part about editing photos is to not oversaturated them even when you feel warmer colours look better . I guess I overdid it
P.S. that’s me in the picture enjoying the sky pissing on my face (sarcasm intended)5 -
Sorry for the excess of blury.
Coworker thinks running a query on a console is a way to proof all use-cases.
Good lord I'm still surprised at how many bugs I can spot just by overlooking his code.
I mean, what is a MVC?!!SHIFT+1!!!?
Routing is just a file importing a 5000 liner controller that is actually not a controller for it handles http attributes and sends the response themselves.
Models are just good guesses of queries or a shit load of them: see picture attached

Me after working on a complex UI given by the designer
Me: it’s done
Designer: the underline is off by 1px
Me: yeah , that how the css accommodates according to smaller screen , it’ll still look like the UI you gave on the bigger screen.
Designer : it hasn’t come out as expected , let’s change the UI and try something new here
ME (inside): YOU PEICE OF SHIT , you should have either spoken to me before designing the UI to know what could be done , or either be happy with the 1% different in the real UI and your “photoshop image”
Me(outside): as you say4 -

Story from when game disks were in fashion
I asked my best buddy to burn a disk of GTA vice city so that I can install it on my desktop.
The next day when I receive the disk and insert it into my PC I almost fell of my chair laughing cause that douche bag had copied the icon from his desktop to the disk and burned it .
I almost fell laughing not because what he did , but because he did so when he was in his final year of his IT degree 🤣🤣🤣3 -
When I was around 13 I started programming html and designing websites on and off over the years. Later during my first year of college I picked up C++ and loved it. I always had this idea that web design was very elementary programming until recently.
I recently got forced into learning C# and ASP.NET Core MVC by my internship. Holy shit was I wrong. Web design is so insanely complex and interesting!
C#, ASP.NET Core MVC, HTML, CSS, JS, Entity Framework Core, and the list goes on.....all to create a single website/web application.
I apologize for my ignorance to the website development community.
I’m so excited to learn all of this! =D8 -
A long time ago, I've started my journey into web development. Discovered HTML, CSS and was great, then it came WordPress.
As a self taught developer I thought this was an awesome way to develop sites quicker, didn't really knew any better and, for all I did at the time it was fine.
Then I discovered .NET and MVC, I was amazed (I kinda love the MVC pattern)
Then it came Laravel, really really liked working with it, felt free to develop isntead of focusing on mundane stuff
Last week a client came by, requesting a site for his business, he wanted all sorts of custom stuff, but he needed it in WordPress because that is what he knows how to use.
After three days of dealing with "the WordPress way" I'm seriously considering doing the whole thing in Laravel and style the admin to look like WordPress. I feel like wrestling a 500 pound gorilla, geez, why do every little feature has to be implemented in such an unnatural way.
I'm grabbing a hook but to hang myself on it5 -
As much as I love using a mechanical keyboard ,I fucking hate the taps it makes when others use it

Migrated a first customer project from ASP MVC 5 to ASP.NET Core MVC 1.1.
Now running under Oracle Linux, with Apache and MySQL.
It's not finished yet but it runs (and I'm really happy with that). I like the new direction with .NET Core, open source and cross platform :-)3 -
After few years of coding php, I finally REALLY get the mvc pattern. Never gonna write crappy code again.4
-
Just "learned" that Singleton is a good design pattern with no disadvantages. And in MVC the model should be a singleton.
FML :^)4 -
Still can't find a decent node MVC framework. Thought I'd list out all my requirments and what I'd like.
Turned into a readme of me moaning about current frameworks. Not sure I want this on github
Devlife6 -
After working for months , I've understood that we should overestimate the time that will be taken to complete a task
But now it's getting annoying , I mean It's been a week I finished my project and am ideal ,
Btw, the project timeline was a week , ( I finished the work in a day ) -
It's looks like this weeks "Weekly Group Rant" is trolling all the developers who have side projects that never finished.
1. CMS like WordPress
2. MVC framework like Laravel
3. Android App like Tinder
and... list goes on.
#1, #2 and few others are still stuck on index page.2 -
Authors of articles that say PHP is past because "it doesn't separate concerns" and "it just spits out HTML within logic"… please don't write about something you don't know1

this www.xmlrant.com project I created turns to be quite a learning experience
*happy*
Things I did for the first time as part of it
- submitted a public nuget package
- worked with .net core library and mvc application
- integrated mvc's app github repo with continious integration platform appVeyor9 -
First day of web server programming class. The teacher clearly doesn't know anything. He doesn't even know what the course is about! When someone asks him what it is, he mumbles about "dynamic" something... Then he says we will be using the languages JavaScript, MVC, and PHP. What the fuck. MVC? LANGUAGE?
He then tries to come up with some project we could make, and is not going to teach anything apparently. Keep in mind, most people in this class have very little previous experience with programming.
After not saying anything for a long time, he finally tells us to make a clock in JavaScript. A CLOCK. He is supposed to teach how to make Web APIs and such, but instead, he tells us to make a clock in JavaScript, and that's it.
What. The. Fuck.10 -
You wrote a little simple and clean mvc framework to work faster on some new projects. It can "compile" tags as {% var %} or {% array.key %} in the html code with support of {% for arrayOfHash in hash %} foreach construct and nice features, it can call api's callback in a smart way as ghost methods of a class, he can make routes with the route provider. You tested it and made a little example, after you went in the bathroom you read the index code and you started staring at the beauty and elegance of it. You go to bed happy and sleep. The day after you wake up and realize that it's unuseful because there's a lot of mvc framework that surely are better and ready to use, so you lost useful time. Have you ever feel this way? MVC: Me Versus Creativity.5

me: I want to look into using an MVC for my websites...
brain: Nope, not gonna happen, we're gonna stick to the simple inclusion of site pieces directly in the front-end code instead.
me: but but but
brain: I SAID NO!2 -
protip for my colleague: putting everything in the users controller and views isn't the proper way to use an mvc framework....
...and duplicating - no, triplicating everything for different types of users doesn't make it any better -
There should be a show like Masterchef but for programmer. Where the participants build an mvc product based on the challenge of the day for a certain of time, then they got roasted by the juries if it's bad.7

I sometimes cry a lil bit when I see php sql code without pdo. Specially when someone mentions a cool example online or a tutorial or whatever. Guys please, get good with sql as well as pdo....please pretty please with cherries on top. While we are at it, it might not be the solution to aaaall problems....but mvc can do wonders for you, it really can. That pattern has been on for a while...learn it and use it well. Also, restful apis are good mmkay? They fit nice with the glory of Node.js and its amazing front end powers and utilities mmmmmmkay?3
-
Are you worried about your development environment becoming more and more unstable?
Let me give you an example: I've been (mostly) a .NET developer for about 10 years now and yes Visual Studio crashed sometimes but not very often. Also whenever I found something that seemed like a bug in e.g. the MVC framework I always realized that the problem was in my code. However recently there is a VS update almost every week, and I more and more often bump into open GitHub issues without a fix.
Is this the same with other development environments? I also had a lot of issues with XCode/Swift but I never expected that to be stable...1 -
Shouldn't be there a position called "Document Developer"! who's job is writing documents throughout the whole sdlc processes? Also expanding comments written by the coders. The only skill needed is English MVC framework!2

When it took 6 months to design and develop a trade show application in ASP.NET MVC 4, and suddenly - "Make the tablet-optimized version by next week". Wat??

Yesterday I've finished the basics of my first api at work. Now going to start on the mvc front end.
Finally learning C# ASP .NET and how to do it right.
So far everyone is happy at work1 -
Just an update : never fucking install windows 7 on a new desktop without first reading , fucking piece of shit won’t detect my SSD , tried different solution over the Internet to no success, after 3 hours of nerve wrecking debugging I read a post on the Internet that “some”(not sure which) versions of windows just don’t detect an SSD,
Finally done by installing windows 10,
But nooooooo will windows let me die in peace, noooooooo
Every fucking time I restart my PC “ windows is installing updates
I mean fuck you , how fucking many bugs do you squash in a day.
Probably some engineer at Microsoft will be “ oops o dropped a donut on my keyboard, let just press ctrl + z” to undo changes and upload , lol “8 -
Fucking managers
Now I know why companies with shitty managers don’t grow
Me conversing with my senior as to how to make one of our functions scalable which around 10k devs would be using.
Manager walks in
Manager: how’s function x going
Me: great , will be done soon
Manager: you need to finish it by today
Me: can’t do it , too many sub functions need to be reconfigured( which was his job)
Manager: take *insert some managers asslicker’s name*’s help
Me: okay
We will finish it by today , but everybody know how “robust” the output will be
P.S. I didn’t argue because I’ve done that before and it’s like hitting your head on a wall. If you have read my previous rants, you would know1 -
So how on earth is Strict MVC good for web dev. A variation of MVC works well but strict principles no!!!5
-
A couple of years back I wrote what would be a strong contender for the title: the ugliest mvc framework ever written in php.
Bright side: now I know the pitfalls of mvc very intimately.
Brighter side: never have to work on that code again.
Now I can use ready made mvc frameworks and still know where to look if shit goes south.1 -
Instead of using MVC framework (like Angular), my predecessor preferred typing all the data the hard way.... The number of lines were like 2000 (in html...)3

Every month I re-evaluate the code I had written previously to compare my progress in coding standards...

"The MVC framework is just a hype, we dont need to refactor our ASP.NET webshop" - former CTO

Nothing better than going in after someone else and trying to debug their code.
It's comparable to sitting on a warm toilet seat. -
Progress.
It isn't much, but the MVC application now reads data from the Linux LAMP server and prints the SQL data back to the client. Biggest hurdle was the fact that my Linux host blew up three times over the week, but hey, how else are you going to learn Linux servers?
Moving into spring framework self-education in July. Hopefully it's a little less painful than Apache Tomcat. -
Wow just realized Simpsons had an episode on crypto... all the way back in February.
If only the the MVC would actually mail me my new drivers license that I renewed almost 6 months ago... I could actually buy some... (exchanges require ID verification, so much for anonymity ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)6 -
As a developer you have to learn!
Your whole fucking work life!
I totally give you credits for being a good programmer in 1990, but you have learnt NOTHING in the last fucking 30 years.
If you don't know anything about MVC....
and nothing about object oriented programming,
and nothing about all the new cool features,
SHUT THE FUCK UP!5 -
I spent 2 hours googling and scratching my head trying to implement asyc Tast<ActionResult> on asp.net MVC. I even copy and paste the exact sample code and still didn't work. It turns out that "Visual studio for Mac" doesn't support asynchronous calls.6

I was reminded today why I love programming, starting out HTML 5, MVC in asp.net
Created my display table, was about to look into searching, sorting etc then found MVC Grid.
Everyday is a school day.2 -
After creating my own PHP MVC framework with Twig as templating engine, everything is now so simple and so fast, I juat cant belive how much I understand now. The development is just so smooth, you know exactly what to do all the time... And for my simple project, it does not even hurt that much to use PHP (and its even strictly typed 7.2, so not that bad). I think that I am in love. ❤6

I just wanted to create a small website using PHP MVC... Hahaundefined autoloader namespace dependencies toomanysubjects singleton php mvc configuration dispatcher fuckthisshit2

Boss: convinced the client to rewrite his ancient procedural PHP prototype to .NET MVC.
Next day:
Boss: Actually he decided to just retrofit it... again. -
If the website layout is all broken and looks bad - it’s your fault. You can’t claim “I’m not a visual designer.” No one cares about how slick your MVC style is.3

So I started at a new company about two months ago. I was hired as a Senior .net developer, which I am well qualified. I also told them that I did MVC but haven’t done react or angular.
So my first project with this company is building a react-native app. (Never done a native app either) The craziest thing is I am the most senior on this project too.
What is even crazier, I still work for my old company on the side, and the only .net I am doing is for them. And even funnier, my old company thought the reason I was leaving was to do more .net development.2 -
Having to explain to asp classic developers why you shouldn't try to pass a DataRow to an MVC view

I discover last week Eloquent ORM.
A php database abstraction layer.
How to make things quickly! Great tools!6 -
Web developers working since years in Java, spring and hibernate have no idea how to make a website live and don't even know basic MVC structure..
Being a PHP developer m so shocked !!
Is it true for most of the java developers??6 -
I'm considering going to Linux for my main operating system since windows 10 is bugging the heck out of me. Although, my main IDE is visual studio 2015. What IDEs are out there for .NET development in Linux and what are their pitfalls compared to VS 2015, if any? Are you still able to create all the things in that as in VS? I'm usually working in MVC and ADP.net forms and maybe the occasional console app in C#.3
-
I fucking hate asp.net web forms. Today we implemented listboxes, so we expected them to just be a wrapper for HTML listboxes. NOPE! They are simply selects. Why they decided to hijack the name and do this, I don't know. That does explain why they don't have multiple columns like true listboxes.
So glad that for the next project, which we should start by the end of May, we'll be moving to MVC and .Net core. This shit is so stupid!3 -
Tired of chasing an elusive architecture and finding good community that helps promote it. Basically:
- Not CRUD
- Not MVC
- More like CQRS; commands and queries represent use cases
- Event Sourced; event log is source of truth, everything else is a cached projection
- Functional Domain Design; not DDD; focus on immutability and simplicity
- Functional in general; less OO
- More focus on domain concepts rather than tech concepts
- Domain can be used through CLI, API, or SDK
- UI is just another client to the API
- Authorization is ABAC, graph-based access control
I'm looking for a fucking unicorn.10 -
It's my first rant. So please ++1 me.
Now my rant:
In this semester I had a subject about system architecture. In this class, we must learn Java script, C# (and ASP.NET framework ), PHP (and Zend Framework 2), but in the classes is taught only UML and patterns. In the moodle of the subject we don't have any information about any of the languages and if we ask the teachers they don't know anything.
And we need in 4 weeks do a work with a widget in javascript, 2 Asp.net mvc, 1 asp.net web api. All with authentication.
So we are all fucked10 -
Things I learned in this 2 month training in an IT company ;
- the way @marcerisson wanted me and my group project team to use Git (and kept yelling at us about ) is actually the proper, professional way of using Git
- there is a difference between an MVC model and a fucking pack of overcomplicated spaghetti code
- commenting your code and naming your variables properly IS IMPORTANT especially when another dev might read it 15 years later (i see you Mr I Name All my Variables With the Name Of the Function and A Number)
- « if it worls it ain’t stupid » also apply in a professional area
- where ´s my fucking rubber duck2 -
Custom php api for huge known national software. No frameworks. Not following mvc structure. No decent documentation. Im the new dev and like how the fuck should i catch up before they think im not productive2

interviewed a guy who claims to work in MVC with Java, dude doesn't even know object relational model. calls himself a full stack developer

worst interview is when the panel is insisting that asp.net webforms is better that asp.net mvc.
it ended with a debate instead of an interview5 -
When you introduce support for MVC projects into a webforms application you've been working with for 4 years and it takes about 3 hours.

I created an ASP.Net Web Application as my personal Web site. Tested it locally then wanted to test it in a live environment. I purchased a domain/hosting package then publish via FTP. Point it to homepage and nothing shows up. I call customer service and they say it's hosted on a Linux server but their options don't show that it is Linux based. So I had to change it to a Windows platform that it should have already been on. SMH 😣

"Hey Boss, the things you are asking for will take one year to develop. Replacing the complete UI with another is not an easy task for our software [due to not having MVC or any kind of code modularisation]."
"Yes, but it needs to be done until november"
"We don't even now the requirements, yet. This will force the complete team into weekend and night shifts, to even get a first working prototype done! From my team lead I expect to be defended against such things!"
"Yes, but I need to make money!"

Tbh this is more about education in general... Introduce the same system i had, no fixed lessons just a project and a time frame. Eg : create your own MVC framework and a site to show it off
Time frame : 5 weeks
(dont expect fully fletched frameworks but a site that uses the MVC data flow and the code is reusable)3 -

I am a fresher in web development. I have already learnt to use nodejs, react, angular, vanilla js and made many projects. Majority of the work I feel is just CRUD based, sure there are some exciting things but they are only of a small percentage.
All that innovation HAPPENING is just glorified way of making a CRUD APP ONLY.
Oh mvc worked great on server side let's bring it to client side
OH mvc is such a mess, who thought about doing this.
Oh react redux is so revolutionary let's remake our app using it,,
Oh es6 fuck yeah, Babel, webpack sure, now my crud app is super performant.
Oh graphql, motherfucking cutting edge CRUD APP......
I need to know what's next, is there any breaking of this cycle11 -
Fucking fuck !
I work with a senior Dev,
It’s pretty much like am working under him....
He’s like a great Dev no doubt about it
But !!!!
He’s a fucking dumbass when it comes to working in a team. He makes changes in my code without telling me. He says He forgot to tell me , every single time
When I ask him how a piece of code works , he says it’s pretty much obvious and acts like even a 6 year old kid Would know this ,
He doesn’t think 2 steps ahead before solving a problem usually creating another problem !
We were once working on a language which we weren’t very good at , so I suggested him to ask another Dev in our company about inputs on our code structure to which he completely Disagreed saying they really won’t know much and that he knows more than them..
Fucking dumbass thinks he knows more than most ...
I have tried confronting him multiple times but he feels but he just won’t listen...1 -

Hello everyone, I would like to create a native desktop application on Linux, which language/gui framework would you suggest to me, knowing that I have been working as a Web developer all my life?
I tried Javafx, but I don't like that very much, is really confusing and requires a lot of boilerplate, I use to work with visual studio, so a drag and drop visual editor to create a gui, that was easy.
I tried electron, but I don't really like it.
The main problem I am facing is adapt a pattern like mvc to desktop app, and share data between scene.
I would love to use flux pattern.
Any tutorial suggestions?8 -
How the fuck do Jr devs end up doing things someone specifically asks not to do.!!!!!
Fucks timelines up
So I asked my Jr Dev to leave a feature as it might not be required in this release and rather concentrate on the thing that is gonna make this release work , the “SAVE” button.
I mean how had is it to understand,
This dude goes ahead and “utilises” days on the thing that isn’t gonna be released(a dropdown) , and no, the dropdown still doesn’t work.
I understand the spirit of solving the bugs first. But what’s the point of solving it if it doesn’t fucking “save”
P.S. I’ve done this too as a Jr Dev :p7 -

Heads up , not a tech rant
So I now know what you should say if your kid asks what kind of person you should or should not be
So in the picture (sorry it isn’t clear , was taken late night after work) was a common parking area , the bikes parked you see are parked leaving space between at least for 2 more bikes. The owners usually park it that way cos they are too lazy to “properly park”. I confronted them last month and they said they’ll look into it , they have been contacted by various people from my area about this mattter , but it seems they don’t think it matters
So kids , learn to be considerate and not a douche bag , learn to listen and act , not act and listen , and last of all , learn to be a better person , that’s what humans have been trying to do for hundreds of years1 -
I've been using dotnet and aspnetcore for years. I've heard people complain about MVC but I never really saw the problem. The controllers are easy to set up for basic endpoints, I have my domain models and DTOs, and our views I guess is our standalone webpage just consuming jsons.
Only now I'm having to work with an *actual* aspnet MVC stack - server-rendered cshtml and all - and it's dawning on me like a truck what people were actually referring to.
Out of all the issues I've had so far, they have all been due to black box enigmatic voodoo because don't worry about it, the framework takes care of it - it should just work. But what if it doesn't? I have no idea because the trail ends at the bit that should just work.
I should know better than to criticize an entire framework and paradigm made by devs with vastly superior experience and expertise than me, and my issues are absolutely due to being new and unfamiliar with this, but imagine coming up with an architecture to obsessively separate the MVC concerns, then you make cshtml.2 -
How do you actually structurize _big_ projects and still use js components?

Hey DevRant, this is my first time working collaboratively on a project with Git and I'd like to know what's the best strategy to adopt.
Is it that every member has their own branch on origin that they push to, then we meet and plan out merges when it's time to release? Or does everyone just push to master, but stash or commit their local changes before they pull?
It's a Greenfield project, with just a bare repository on the central server. It's an MVC app where I've decided to do the View & Controller portions and the other person is doing Models and data services layers.15 -
At my first programming job, the codebase was a tangle of legacy web forms, MVC, templates in a content-management-system, and AngularJS. Learning the CMS was particularly stressful.

Last week I did a test for a huge real estate company here in Dubai.
The test they asked to create a database of students and use jquery datatables so far is easy.
But they told you cannot use any framework and uses mvc structure, in other words, build your own framework. It's ok.
But my main concern is, the company is quite famous to not provide proper feedbacks or just forgot about you. And I would be very piss off if after of 3 entires days building my own framework, doing documentation, code comments those guys didn't reply me any feedback.4 -

Look at this easy piece of code(that I added) from an Asp.NET Core 2 template project(MVC). I needed only to add this piece of code to WebHost.CreateDefaultBuilder() (in the Program.cs) to be able to setup a working WebServer which will listen and answer on that IP(local network machine IP) and port, then I opened that port from my modem on this local IP, then used DynDNS with noip.com, tested out on my smartphone with 4G connection and it does work!
This is the EASIEST web project setup and test that I've ever tried and that let me showcase something from my machine to the entire world! :')

The position in the company i started working for not long ago was for a dotnet developer. But it ended being heavy sharepoint focused and mostly front end javascript (that i am not very good at, that's why i wanted backend), doing stuff like hide this button, css that input etc. Really confused now and wondering how much il learn from this job considering its my first job as a developer and that i really want to do mvc with dotnet core. 😐😐 Does this have any value or i shouldn't be so picky for a first developer job?1

For those of you .Net people out there (".Net sucks" Stallman fellators need not apply), what would a few practice .net core web apis and MVC projects cost to host on Azure? They wouldn't be touched except by me and any people who want to see my portfolio projects directly, so I think that doesn't count as time for cost, but I'll be honest and say I don't entirely get their pricing.1

The company has been moving projects away from ASP .NET to MVC .NET. One of the cited reasons was improved performance. The ASP .NET projects were not the fastest applications available, but were manageable.
The new MVC .NET projects are slower than snails. Every single page element is trying to do an async call to populate metadata elements. There are sometimes 50 or more controls per page due to the industry this software is used in. FML.7 -

I can't believe this is happening... I'm coding something in PHP...
It's the only language the makes sense for this project really. I need something that can easily run Linux commands.. it needs a small footprint... and it needs to be something people are familiar with.
I feel sick thinking about it... just looking at frameworks was making me want to puke. Luckily I found one that was my style. MVC and it is TINY...
I guess my next issues is.. should this application be OS or should I make it proprietary to my Web hosting services?2 -

TL;DR: FFS Microsoft
So yesterday we were at the point in our project where adding a login system seemed like a good idea. This is an asp.net core mvc project and we use Materialize for our frontend.
So according to _the tutorials_ we could start a new project and add authentication in the prompt by pressing a button. As it created the project I thought it seemed nice and easy enough. After it had created the test solution I build it and, sure enough, in the top right corner there were a register and login <a>.
I checked them out and they were your bog standard form input input submit and all. Now I guessed I could look at how it's all programmed aaaaaaaaand
Nope.
I saw a new folder located at Areas/Identity/Pages which had a _ViewStart.cshtml which contained three lines. There were also a database migration and in Startup.cs there were some database stuff, but other than that? Nothing. So where on earth was the login and register form located? Shit like that is frustrating ya know.
But oh well it seemed to work and I switched to our examn project where I found it was possible to scaffold the login system in a way that seemed nice.
Except, for some reason bootstrap and jquery decided to return to our project. FFS Microsoft!1 -
As a total Javascript/node.js noob my biggest take from it this week is that it's a lighter version of the backend while doing a lot of the front end heavy lifting in a programmatic style. It's not a total replacement to ASP.NET MVC or JDBC MVC, it's nowhere near as powerful. But, I could see this being a very good replacement for JSP's and simplifying the front end. I need that because the front end terrifies me more than the backend. The devil you know is sometimes easier.
Still, my first week in node.js and Javascript has been... pleasent. It's simpler and less powerful than static or dynamic typed languages but that doesn't make it bad. 🙂
I am biased though. My first language was C++ and anything is easier/better than C++ 🤣 -

So at work we use ASP.NET web forms. Since the .NET Core exists now, and that uses ASP.NET MVC, is it worth looking into that and learning about it? My boss is hesitant to move over for our next project because web forms will go faster because we don't have to learn something new.6

You ever have someone who you'd set to QA for a group project, and then find out that - rather than setting up automated testing and writing code that can be run at different times in the development cycle - they just did it by hand, running through the program and deciding that the result they got was good enough?
Imma smack a bitch, then write this shit in their stead.2 -

How would you handle this:
You generate an id
You chech the db if it is not taken
If it is taken you generate a new one and check again.
You then save the new item with the generated id.
How do you ensure that between the time you checked and the time you added the item some other call did not try to also add an item with the same id.

Any .NET Core and Vue.js developers here?

I would like to know, how many of you fellow .NET developers actually use full SPA applications and is something like this useful?
It features Vue.js, Typescript, Vuex, Vue router, Bulma, Sass and Webpack 4.
I heavily use Vue CLI and SPA's but have notices that a lot of people around me still like this approach.9 -

ASP.NET Core (MVC) is frustrating me.
I’m a big fan of ASP so far but I’m just struggling to understand a lot.
First off to use it you have to fucking memorize every class in the fucking framework and the functions within them. It just expects that I automatically know which classes I need to implement or inherit from and why, but if I don’t? I can fuck off. But this is also just a C# problem in general.
And it does so much for you and that bothers me so much. I was so excited to actually implement protection against SQL Injections, using HTTPS, validating logins, interacting with the SQL for the database but FUCKING NOPE BECAUSE IT DOES IT FOR YOU.
I don’t want my hand held I want to feel like I’m actually doing things and I want to learn how shit works and how it’s made. It’s just disappointing. I appreciate that it wants me to focus on the app and I will appreciate it a lot more when I’m done learning how everything works but I won’t actually get to understand how those features work or how I can implement them myself because it’s spoiling me too fucking much.
I guess I’m just gonna have to practice more. And don’t bother telling me to look at the documentation, I’ve never seen such a fucking piece of shit mess before I laid eyes upon the docs for C# & ASP21 -

I created a backend thing (mvc) yea all that stuff, Controllers, services, models, views and all that. No i turned out that i also need to do the frontend aswell. Last time i did that was >10 years ago, there was no jquery, angularJS and stuff...
Well ok ill give it a try with angularjs and Wow now i can again create models, Controllers, services, views. Wtf lol
Its like an inception, i wonder when there will be a framework for creating cooler views in angularJS -
is there such thing has a facade in models to call on a database and return an iqueriable so that the controller use the iqueriable to get it's information ? it sounds a little odd to me.

!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
So my Xbox one broke down and I want it to be replaced, since it is out of warranty , I don’t mind paying for a replacement(I heard somewhere they have an offer where you pay a small amount for a new one)
But those fuckers aren’t human, not metaphorically, I mean literally , you can’t call/chat with a human , the only time you can contact a human is after 7:30 fucking PM.
Royal fuck in the nuts witha hammer, you’re Microsoft , not some porn company which is only in one country ,please have a “working” customer service, recommend you guys, before going to buy a Microsoft product , just try to connect to microsoft , you’ll probably end up buying something else
P.S. the image below shows how the only time I can connect to a human is after 7:30PM - 7:00 AM, and no emails too don’t work4 -
Reading comments here and subsequently looking here I’m wondering if I’ve been doing MVC wrong. I’ve always thought the View calls data from the Model. However I see people load model data and then call the view via the controller.
Which is right?2 -

So, we've finally finished our ASP.NET Webforms application, and we're looking onto MVC. We've decided against core just because it isn't as stable yet, and there are fewer libraries, which I'm cool with. However, we still have some baggage from webforms left in our way of approaching the problems. Since the college at large has a custom bootstrap release, we already have bootstrap and jQuery included in the project. What is the best way of going about implementing an equivalent of ComboBoxes, gridviews with paging, and anything else included in the default asp elements and AJAX toolkit ones? My boss is very much against taking in anything but large, well supported libraries like Angular & Angular-UI, so no jQuery plugins unless super stable and supported. I'm trying to save us from having to buy DevExpress for like 3000 across our team. Sorry for the long bullshit, and thanks if you even read it!

I suppose I'll have to pick up 1 javascript(arghh! ) API, which is the most mature and/or best for rapid design and easy data management?1

What is everyones opinions on declaring class constructors as 'final'?
Could use some feedback experience, pros/cons?
I'm building a hobby MVC-like framework inspired by OpenCart, where the default controller method is "index" rather then "__construct"
Keep in mind i'm only writing code towards the latest supported PHP versions, so PHP4 style constructors are not of concern. -
"Hey, we're gonna add bootstrap to your project but bootstrap doesn't exist in your project. That's fine? Yeah it's fine."
Like, ffs asp.net core mvc.

!Rant what's so hard about multithreading for newbie programmers. (An actual question. Trying to tutor some friends who just don't get it)
It's practically a requirement for MVC.
In c# it's extremely simple. Just create a background worker with a handler/interface.2 -
I learned today that learning programming in MVC architecture has nothing to do with programming but understanding objects, layers, architecture etc.
Please dear tutorial creators, introduce me to the subject with explanations of those and not with some code of mvc or whatever. -
Hey everyone! Wanna hear some advice from other PHP Developer. Is it necessary to learn MVC in PHP? And what are the benefits of it? A course link could be helpful :)6

Everything looks easy in .NET MVC, but making it generate a checkbox list for you is so damn complicated.4

Trying to make sense of the Zend Framework 1 MVC autoloader. Oh how much would I pay even for it to be PSR-0.2

At a previous job someone created their own framework that had no features that you would expect from a normal MVC framework e.g routing, view template etc.

My model for one part of my project has become so crazy big I’m become lost every time I add a new feature or debug :-/

I just got my new task to convert an existing project (ASP) to JSP with Spring Framework , but the problem is I don't have any experience on creating web app on both side , so I was thinking if is it advisable to enroll on an online courses just to catch up the knowledge that I need ?3

Be me. shitty front end dev intern. React god.
boomer tech company using ASP.NET MVC frameworks. Hey energy-vampire, can you make us some sick react components???
sure.
get sent giant mvc repo. I've never used it. no documentation. no comments. nothing. just a fat app.
why do companies do this? I literally had no idea what to do with this thing. went to main guy and he had to build a .sln project, link it to some other project, setup an appsettings.json file, import secrets, and then build.
how the fuck would I know to do that???9 -
I am laravel developer who just started to explore advanced part of it. I have a confusion with topics events and queues. Events are call when an action is performed in the application where as queues are job for repeated and long tasks. My question is when to use both of them? Can we use a queue inside an event?2

Hello !
I written a php framework its

Do you think i should keep it going ?
Or its just a waste of time ?2 -
ASP.NET MVC using Razor vs. Web API/JS framework? I know they both have pros and cons depending on the situation but which do you prefer? Go!

Question: I am working on learning MVC/MVP/MVVM/MVPVM and I have read a bunch of articles and done some tutorials but I need some help relating it to n-tier (I think that's what they're called) systems.
I have worked on and I am used to the Presentation (ui) layer > BAL > DAL > DB pattern. How does MVC (and others) relate to the different tiers in a tiered system? I have read that model == DAL, controller == BAL, and view == presentation layer, but I have also read that MVC is meant to extract the presentation layer and that business logic and data logic should be used elsewhere. Can I get some clarity?2 -
So let me get this straight.
- You propose a tutorial about how to create an e-commerce website using Laravel, with a shitty powerpoint-like display
- We have to click "next" to learn the basics of PHP, MVC, Laravel, Mix and such, while all I need to know is about the payment system and global logic
- On the last PowerPoint, you suddenly decide that you should finally think about displaying some actual code while all before was theoric class
- So the last powerpoint page is 45 times longer than any other previous pages.
- Of course, there was nothing about what I was looking for.
You should consider stop wasting everyone's time as a 2018 new resolution.1 -
I'm on my internship right now, working on Library Management System and thinking about how data will load fast in server-side, it took almost a minute even I used DataTables. It is JUST a 22K+ of library records. Is my only knowledge is just PHP, MYSQL, JS... caused this problem? Would MVC help, i'm only have 200 hours to finish the project but no knowledge yet in MVC15

Well, i want to build a tiny webapp with frontend and api. I already decided to go nodejs and someone adviced express. Since i have little experience other than socket.io i am curious, what mvc you guys recomend?

The problem with our current project is that we're using Spring MVC but we only use hashmap for binding (is binding is a correct term for this?) of data with our mapper (We use Mybatis, and also when we get this source code they already implements this kind of stuff, mvc with no models hahaha) for the sake the code to be consistent.
Maybe after I read the documentation of Mybatis and learn how to implements joins, I'll ask a permission to change the hashmap with actual models. -
I recently un-boxed a pixel 2, though great on the specs side, I wouldn't buy it because of the looks and weight,
It just doesn't feel great in the hand, I mean if am spending that much, I should feel am holding a premium device at hand, but It feels like a dummy,
Camera might be great, but the bezel was too big -
when you are using javascript frameworks and plugins in mvc and you have ReSharper, for your own safety and sanity exclude *.js

Asp.net before MVC, I'm talking all the VB syntax and .aspx files garbage. Feels like I'm working in the year 2003. 😭1

I'm learning PHP MVC and found this Tutorial: https://r.je/mvc-php-front-controll...
The author recommends to give routing functions to the controller.
Is this still good practise?
Also is a Frontend Controller the same as a Routing File? -

So in my groups project where we use ASP.NET Core MVC where we've needed to add identity. Now I've struggled with this soooo much only for today to get it to work.
The documentation for it (more specifically user roles) isn't very good, and most tutorials basically just do the same thing which has for me thrown exceptions left and right (and I don't even do anything special tbh) without any explanations. But today I finally got it to work, I can seed the database without getting told that there are no service for the RoleManager

I would really appreciate if someone could review my code and tell me if I'm on the right track: https://github.com/Dollique/...
For Info: I'm doing this all by myself for a learning purpose and I know I could easily use a finished framework :)
Thanks!1 -

Does AngularJS still have momentum. I toyed with it for a while on a side project. Since then .Net Core launched and most of my work (both day to day and side projects has been in MVC 5 or .Net Core)
I wanted to go back to tinkering with that one side project but it seems that some of the hype surrounding AngularJS has died off.6 -

It's actually funny, as I shared equal passion for the English language and technology( how and why things things worked), with software engineering being the preferred choice.
I started studying practical software engineering, which basically only teaches the fundamentals of a select languages, like C, C#, JAVA, PHP and SQL. Had to teach myself PHP and MVC development for my end project.. So I turned to google and youtube. Great experience so far :)
PS: sometimes I wish I studied English instead! -
I work in a team that's predominately ASP.NET MVC when it comes to web development. We're merging with another government agency 's development and they're using Node.js.
So I figure that I should make an effort and learn Node.js as I've only had minimal exposure to it.
After five minutes discover that corporate proxy prevents access to npm. Oh well, never mind!4 -
Rails views are not meant to have a ton of logic, local variables and 3 or 4 levels of if/else nesting. That's what presenters, view models and assorted other patterns are for. Or helpers, if you really have to.
Yes, this codebase is so packed with legacy it still runs Rails 2.3, and there's no plans to upgrade it, but that's no excuse to keep writing code like it's 2008. MVC does not mean all code must fit in a model, a view or a controller, ffs.1 -
I’ve been building event-based systems for a few years.
Now I am with a company building MVC apps with ruby-on-rails. (Well, actually the V is handled by React)
To all the the good Rails developers out there:
What advice do you have to getting into this thing very fast. I’ve got video courses from UDemy and the docs but are there any hidden diamonds in the rough out there I should check out?5 -
Now is the time for me to start projects to get the hang of ASP.NET (Razor Pages then MVC), although it doesn’t seem like there’s a whole lot I need to worry about but I fucking feel like I’m messing it up already. I’m just worried about how I’m going to work up to sumn I would do at a job and remembering everything I have to do in the project and why12

Despite not having any real C# experience to speak of, I've been put on a short and rather intense enhancement project that was written with .net framework and MVC.
Yesterday I had to add a new method to call a stored procedure. The file I had to add it in was over 6k lines long. Most files, not including entities, are well over 1k - including the views.
Can't say I'm enjoying working on this project so far.
(Did I mention the clients have a tendency to change requirements mid sprint?)1 -
Need some advice on RAM,
So I’ve a laptop with 8GB ram and I am planning on a upgrade, now if I remember correctly I CAN add a 16Gig stick and it’ll be 24gig, but is it a good call to have different sized ram.
PS. Suggest a ram

Hynix
P.P.S - I’ll obviously add RAM of the same frequency10 -

Asp.Net MVC core
Me: this is really cool scaffolding out models.
1hr later: This really sucks have to bind models
1hr later. This is awesome only one nav bar to worry about.
1hr later this is total shit controller inside controller.
1 hr later wow I love MVC
Anybody can relate++

FFS what is the standard with dependency injection with Android. Is it dagger2 or kodein. Last 2 days googling about and it seems like it's dagger2 yet others say it's kodein. Kodein is newer I guess so less written about it. Seems like every 2 weeks it's something new. No wonder I can't pick this up. It changes faster than Trump can fricken tweet.
Like first mvc then mvp then mvvm then mvi what's next mve? 😵
So flustered. As last post I feel like giving up. Every time you try to learn some new "standard" creeps out from CS major ass crack. Is it the same for IOS. Maybe I should sell a kidney for a Mac book.1 -
Why nextjs doesnt have any mvc or design pattern involved. Shits scattered and muddied all over the place4

I've been following and finished a course about MVC 5. On the deployment side he showed how to deploy the Release on the filesystem through the vs 2017 publish Wizard GUI and after that he suggest to deploy that folder on the IIS server. Now I looked around on the web and I've not found a way\guide on how to self host that project on my PC and expose the project to internet (which I do mostly by using no-ip.org). Someone have any clue or can point to a step by step guide? -
Last week i met my teacher for my final project. He said i must compare 2 method that written in journal with the program that i make. I said okay i will do that.
Today i showed him the oop and mvc journal he said both of then is not a method. Method should have a calculating formula you must compare a method that you can calculate and make a new formula with both of the journal.
Can someone tell me if that is wrong or not? Im confused. Is oop and mvc does have calculate formula? As far as i know oop and mvc only have relationship between the object.1 -

I am a beginner in iOS development. Currently, I am on my week 3rd of training in the iOS development and I am glad to admit that it has been a smooth ride to understand iOS concept. I know a bit about Massive View Controllers and how they are much of a headache for this community. So, one fine day I was surfing the web and reading blogs to understand app architectural patterns in iOS. So I just stumbled on this (https://simform.com/mvc-mvp-mvvm-io...). It recommends using MVVM when your team relies on test driven development.
Just wanted to know if anyone can explain to me how MVVM can be used for test-driven development?2 -
How to start learning PHP MVC and OOP?

recently, I was working on a project to playback archived call recordings, and another developer was hired. part of my job is also to support a third party automation framework for customers, so I got "seconded" to support a proof of concept. the original project had now been messed up, it works, however, the functionality that made it secure has been MASSIVELY compromised for the sake of effort. I've tried to cause a stink as we have a major customer who will fail the next PCI audit. opinions on the situation. the other developer has a lot more experience, but seems to have chosen to satisfy management on deadlines over the original spec...

I just got myself working with the worst developers I could ever know, they don't know nothing about dry, kiss principles... They built an entire platform using Zend framework but they don't used mvc layers right and there is no backend validation most of the time, besides many other true newbie developer problems. I just came to this job and from and Rb/Python background and I can't live with this piece of code. They have 20+ years in the market while I'm just a guy with 5 or 6 years. What should I do if I can't convince the startup owners they are bad as hell waste of money?1

Really fucking sick of Visual Studio losing all intellisence on CSHTML files.
We've had MVC for how many goddamned years and they still can't properly integrate a fucking view file into Visual Studio so it works consistently?
