What tool are you using when you give coding exams on job candidates?

What are the differences in a junior, mid, and senior software engineer roles? And how can you tell that a person is ready for the next role level?

Which do you prefer over-engineered or under-engineered codes?

If I understand a different programming language that doesn't mean that I can easily code in that. Currently working on PHP Yii now. My expertise is on C# btw. lol

Whenever I can't figure out my bugs/errors, I take a break or sometimes go home and check back on it the next day.

we had a front-end dev that needs to "re-architecure" his codes when we need to add a small change or a feature.
and im like: wtf is wrong with your code and you need to re-architect it every damn time?!

PS: that dev is no longer with us now. thank god.
