Am I the only one who gets confused between the forward slash / and the back slash \ ¿
fuck you windows for using \ for paths you are the reason for my suffering.13 -
So many people are applying for computer science majors that it's making me nervous.
My classmates don't know shit about tech yet almost all of them are applying for CS. It's even the most popular ranked major in the US.
I don't think I stand a chance against them. They all have higher GPAs than me, and they participate in clubs and sports.
If those cave people get accepted I'm not going to be too happy about it.61 -
I mean, I really, really like Linux, don't get me wrong but I don't know if it's my Pi or something I've done but I've always gotten issues with it after a few weeks/months.
Everything will flow smoothly until it crashes, and it won't start the x server, and pretty much everything tells me there is a segmentation fault. A fresh install fixes the issue but I also loose all the stuff I've done with my previous install. Really annoying and I haven't found a definitive answer as to why this happens.
Oh well.7 -

My "Coding Standards" for my dev team
1.) Every developer thinks or have thought their shit don't stink. If you think you have the best code, submit it to your peers for review. The results may surprise you.
2.) It doesn't matter if you've been working here for a day or ten years. Everyone's input is valuable. I don't care if you're the best damn programmer. If you ever pull rank or seniority on someone who is trying to help, even if it isn't necessarily valid or helpful, please have your resume ready to work elsewhere.
3.) Every language is great and every language sucks in their own ways. We don't have time for a measuring contest. The only time a language debate should arise is for the goal of finding the right one for the project at hand.
4.) Comment your code. We don't have time to investigate what the structure and purpose of your code is when we need to extend upon it.
5.) If you use someone else's work, give them the credit in your comments. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.
6.) If you use flash, you will be taken out back and shot. If you survive, you will be shot again.
7.) If you load jQuery for the sole purpose of writing a simple function, #6 applies.
8.) Unless it is an actual picture, there is little to no reason for not utilizing CSS. That's what it's there for.
9.) We don't support any version of Internet Explorer and Edge other than the latest versions, and only layout/alignment fixes will be bothered with.
10.) If you are struggling with a task, reach out. While you should be able to work independently, it doesn't make sense to waste your time and everyone else's to not seek assistance when needed.
11.) I'm serious about #6 and #7. Don't do it.48 -

We have an 18-month old at home, and St. Patrick's Day(a big deal in the US) falls on a Saturday this year. Blarg.2 -
Discovering that Steam exists on Ubuntu and being able to install and play Hotline Miami 2 increases my doubts on keeping a Windows partition on my computers. All I need now is to find a way to play WoW and / or LoL, and I'll be truely free :o7

Had my first phone meeting with my first client ever. My experience so far is nothing like the rants here!2

In my current job, I was let go of the project I was handling for almost two years in place for a new hire with less experience. The reason is that I got complacent while sacrificing code quality as more similar tasks were assigned. I'm glad it happened and grateful for all the code practices I've learned. Transferring to a new project with the same client though. 😂1

Bugfix. About two years ago. Old C# codebase, MVC project... A fucking piece of it was sending money to the wrong Dynamics account, FOR TWO FUCKING YEARS.
Anyway...4
