    That's the bootloader. Starts up when a specific combination of keys are pressed together. Usually power+vol down. You can't do much cause it's not unlocked, which usually involves voiding your warranty.

    Fastboot != Recovery != Bootloader folks.
    This seems to be the default Recovery, only allowing you to enter fastboot to Flash shit.
    Of course clockworkmod recovery and all that good shit has more options to it.

    After getting the joys of the Nexus 5x bootloop I have discovered a lot about how these work and how to flash new software onto them, now I just want to get a cheap Dev phone!

    @succcubbus I don't know if I am taking the bait here, but he meant with the volume up and down you control which item to select, then you confirm with a tap of the power button, though both operations can be called selecting tbh.

    👆 what @DRHAX34 said @Mizz141. There's procedure involved (at least in all my phones so far) in the unlocking process, not "What's this big red button do?" "whoops, I launched a nuke. Teehee. "
