    I think both names are a mouthful to a say since they're both two words.
    Duck-chan would be easier to say but I don't think anyone would like that since it can also be aimed toward a real duck. :(

    I see what you are trying to do. Shortening アヒル, but I don't think it would work since ヒル would mean hill.
    I guess your suggestion was better.
