IPod didn't sync well on my Linux machines so decided to give windows - in a highly isolated environment disconnected from the Internet behind a firewall and sandbox - a shot with itunes.

- during the installation it wouldn't detect the fucking harddrive multiple times (genuine unlicensed copy) and after the 4-5th time it's random-fuckingly recognized out of fucking nowhere; I didn't change shit.
- crashes (blue screen and freezes) multiple times during the installation, multiple retries and suddenly it works(?!)
- it took about 10 minutes (!!!!!!!) to install 10+ drivers for an iPod and an external hdd:
Installing Apple iPod drivers... Done
Installing seagate drivers... Done
Installing apple iPod drivers... Done
Installing seagate drivers... Done
Installing Apple iPod drivers... Done
Installing seagate drivers... Done
Installing Apple iPod drivers... Done
Installing seagate drivers... Done
Installing Apple iPod drivers... Done

WHY INSTALL THOSE FUCKERS 5 FUCKING TIMES?!

- iTunes installation fails multiple times without error code (unknown error occured, restoring to original state...),just said fuck it and clicked the shortcut after the ***th fail and it works just like this, THANKS FOR NOTIFYING ME (NOT)!
- iTunes has to restore the entire ipod, this was done with iTunes in the store I bought it already, thanks for nothing.
-restore takes 30+ minutes?!
-syncs the iPod 3 times afterwards.

*clicks close button*
*are you sure you want to quit? Sync in progress*
*oh shit, cancels*
*itunes quits*
*?!?!?*

*tries to import media library*
*seagate hdd suddenly not detected*

I'm fucking tired of this bullshit, windows and iTunes can go die in a fucking corner after getting ass raped while their genitals are being scraped off layer by fucking layer and dipped into fucking acid.

    Now try on hackintosh 😆

    I agree

Ok, let me put my cents on it.
    1. On any machine I have ever built and installed windows on in the last ten years, I had never have problems with undetected drives or crashes and blue screens right out of the box. This sounds very much like a faulty drive.
    2. Windows has come to the point, where pretty much every device is plug and play, because windows update finds a driver for it. Obviously a network connection is needed. Yeah, you don't have to recompile the kernel for it, but it works. If you let it work.
    3. iTunes is one of the worst programs in the history of software development.

Did you try, dunno, using it as it was intended and not on 3 virtual machines with no permissions?

But why would you still use a firewall when you're not even connected to the internet? 🤔

try qpod on linux, atleast I think it's what I used for my old ipod. nothing else worked for it

@SheShell exactly my thoughts. @linuxxx windows might have some problems and it's an OS that can be much better, but those issues can't all be the cause of the OS.

I used windows for years and switched to linux several years ago, because back then it had a lot of issues and for security and development purposes, but with windows 10, Microsoft build an reliable OS (ok, there are still problems). I can't believe you faced all those problems with a simple try.

maybe you should try, as @Forside put it, letting it work
  • 3
idk dude, no offense but for me parts of your story sound too plastic 🙄

@Forside It's a VM, drive is healthy as fuck because otherwise multiple vm-servers would fail haha.

Network connection is present by the way, need to download music after all!

@SheShell @Forside I see I said it wasn't connected to the Internet, that's my mistake, it was connected, oops, apologies!
  • 2
@myss That's fine, except for the Internet part which wasn't true (no clue why I put that in), it did happen.

If you don't believe it, fair enough, I don't mind :)

@SheShell @Forside double rephrase, remember it now (I've been awake for three minutes, slightly sleep drunk). Disconnected it from the Internet during installation, tried it once or twice, didn't work, connected it to the Internet, didn't work again, tried once again, worked.

I do have to say that IE still works excellently to download Firefox 🤣

I did pull a face when the driver's started to install that many times haha (WITH internet)

Do you use software that supports second gen VM's? Windows runs good in a VM if you have hardware level virtualization, but in older software applications it blows. Running Windows inside hyperv is just like windows on bare metal if you have the hardware.
It may not be the correct terminology but I'm sure you get what I'm trying to say

    @Forside totally agree

You are making this shit up. I am managing 18 Windows machines (7, 8.1, 10) with hardware that is completly new (Ryzen, i7 8xxx) to bardware from early 2000 (C2D, and some older AMDs), I even have a one PC with VIA CPU. I never ever got bluescreens for no reason. If I dont count extreme overclocking, it was only thanks to failing HDD, failed CPU fan and fucking nVidia drivers. Only problem with drivers I had was with a scanner, "multiple" drivers are installed for reason, google it. My school has 320 PCs with Windows (7, 10) and nothing simillar you are saying ever happend. Not even in my company with 3500+ PCs. I think that you are making this shit up or you you are desperately trying to fuck your machine up or heavily retarded in some way. I get it, you love Linux, I am using it as a primary OS too, but for love of God, stop making Linux community look like retards thanks to these fake stories.

would it not be easier to run macOS in a virtual environment to get the itunes sync?
