Will I be the only one who misses this key on the keyboards of some modern laptops?

yes. what does it even do

Ah, my backup key for when the mouse battery goes flat 😇

Truth be told I still miss the numpad more than this context menu button. I still miss it though.

I'd rather have the context key over the right ctrl

    Never used it.

@theuser never used the right ctrl key yeah the context key is useful
  • 1
Of course, it's an extra modifier, usually map it to Hyper.

It's called the menu key. I use it for compose key. It's super useful.
  • 2
I've mapped super + menu to screen lock because it's very convenient to hit. Wouldn't use it much otherwise, because less than half of my keyboards have it.

Super effective to rename shit on windows

I have it and I don't know what it does

Already missing this from my current laptop, although most right click menus have a shortcut anyway.
  • 1
I use it sometimes, it can be useful

I noticed and used this key for the first time today

Lenevo laptops especially ThinkPad have the best keyboard format, even the pg up/down are placed logically around up and down arrow key !
  • 2
I have it on my external keyboard.

Lenovo really should swap the Fn & left-Ctrl keys though. Having Ctrl anywhere other than extreme bottom-left is uber jarring.
  • 2
I don't buy the laptop if it doesn't have that key.

Can't work without this one :)

I believe so. To which char_key that key is binded to?

@faheel when only lenovo does it, it fucks everyone up. when i got my lenovo, i pressed up when i meant to press shift for almost two months.

I thought I am gonna miss it. But as I am forcing myself more and more to use keyboard for navigation only, this key and a mouse becomes obsolete.
  • 1
I think it sometimes stimulates a right click?
  • 1
@Bandic00t lenovo got settings to switch fn and ctrl keys
  • 2
Btw: shift + F10 works as well if that key is not there and you need its function.

@Azoth128 Thanks, good to know. Will check it out next time I have to use one.

@Bandic00t If you're running a thinkpad, there's a BIOS option to swap them.
