It's my birthday today, but tbh ,I feel like a loser after not having accomplished much till this age (21).

I mean , Zuckerberg founded Facebook at 19 😞 and here I am, 2 years older than what he was and still seem to be going nowhere 😕

Zuckerberg, Jobs and Gates are outliers man. Most successful businesses are started up by founders who are on average 35 when they start.

    It's never too late to start. 21 - you're still a baby!

Dude - you are SO measuring yourself on the wrong scale. Zuck is a freak in terms of success. You could count on the fingers of one hand the number of people who have achieved what he had by your age. If you feel disappointed to not be the next Facebook founder, prepare for a very unhappy life. Look for and celebrate what you HAVE achieved.

Congrats! You are way ahead of the game. Don't worry about them. Just be you and you will meet with success.

Zuckerberg was being home schooled in computer science when he was in the 8th grade. So yeah!

@ricram I do t attribute his success entirely to his coding skills. When we're talking about building companies we're talking about vision and leadership

Its 10 percent luck, 20 percent skill

@xroad what bothers me the most is not that I haven't started a billion dollar company, it's that I seem to be heading nowhere, especially nowhere near that kind of success.

what if I never get there? and what if I am still living in delusions when I am 35?
what if my whole life would end up being a giant failure?

@samk it's not just that I am not like atm, it's that I am not making significant progress towards something.
I am learning new things everyday, but what if that will never be enough? what if that life I have always wanted will never come.

sorry to bore you with my mid life- existential crisis hybrid...

@randombug sorry but the you gave me doesn't work, goes to an error page.

@Jumpshot44 this may sound pessimistic, but how can I know for sure that I will not be a loser forever?

When I look at my past , that is what I think of...

here's a tip : stop thinking about success it will only slow you down instead keep on doing, trying, experimenting and the results you get will guide you to success naturally . it's all about perseverance .

At 21, I finished university and a week later I was in full time employment. Having to get up every day at an unearthly hour and work all year for a lousy 20 days holiday was a massive shock. I hated it. Almost everything I have ever done for money is pointless. Achievement can not be measured by money, if money is your goal you will never be "rich".

My friend has this quote in their room: "Nothing will ruin your 20's more than thinking you should have your life together already"

@tysa I hope this doesn't come across wrongly, but you sound like you need a sit down and a chat with someone. What is your measure of success? What do you have to achieve to feel like you are going somewhere or aren't a loser? Ambition is great, if kept in perspective. If it consumes you, it's a very, very bad thing and you will end up affecting your health; making rash and harmful decisions just because you feel you have to.

@helloworld that is what I am scared of. next year I would be doing the same and I don't want to do it. which is why I want to start a business.
I feel like getting a job will be the end to all the possibilities of attaining my dreams.
I am scared to death of getting into that hell of having to do what I don't want to do and not being able to do what I want to do, aka,a job

@marcqleonard who doesn't want to be like Mark? but that's not what that is. it is that I want to become a person who belongs to the same league as Mark zuckerberg.

I am not a showoff or a wanna be out even pretentious.
I just want to be great because I am only gonna live once.
and I get depressed when I see myself not fulfilling my own expectations.
and I turn white when I think about getting a job and working in a cubicle, under someone who is dumber than me or hates me for no reason.
in otw,I have a year to turn my life around our it'll turn into a nightmare.
I don't know if that makes sense...

@samk there is nothing else in my life except my dreams.
I am not socially compatible with other people (I can socialize up to a certain point which I like to call "formerly-well-known-acquaintance")

If I don't find what I absolutely love to do , I don't think life has much to offer me...

@marcqleonard jeez... you're almost absolutely right.
it is true that I suck at making friends, mostly because of the social anxiety and lack of social knowledge (don't have anything to talk about)
the weird thing is that it shouldn't be this way.
I am a fairly good looking guy, who goes to the gym, plays the guitar and also used to sing in a band (just once or twice though haha 😂) ,plays sports, is ambitious and may also be funny at times.
I also build softwares and used to teach math to under privileged kids
but still I feel so inadequate and useless and think about death more than often...

all you said was correct, but I have experienced that brain chemistry, which may or may not be influenced by genetics, is also a strong factor.
and I feel like crap everyday.

I did go to a therapist and she hooked me on some SSRI , but to no avail.
anyways, it may seem like I am looking for sympathy, but I am just using this to get out the stuff in my head...
    thanks for everything.
