@fuck2code @Alice sorry, legacy internet site :D
or I read that wrong.. Dunno. The point is apple. Go hate apple ^^
Oh damn, there's a two at itch.io. That should be a three. Fml -
D--M22667y99 dollars a year is not hard to pay. Jesus.
I dont like apple, but those fees are not hard. -
Last time I checked your missing a few digits on the Microsoft path. Company I worked for a couple of years ago hired a Windows mobile dev and had to shell out around €3k - €5k in license fees for software.
Yes iOS is $99 a year, but at least all the tools are free forever. -
@D--M no, but i bought a google dev account like 3 years ago and didnt really do much. If i suddenly want to publish an app, i can just do it. This would have cost me 300$ with apple.
-
@practiseSafeHex vs community, vs code, monodevelop. All are free and have c# support.
-
@practiseSafeHex What? Microsoft offers free coding environments!
notepad.exe
I dunno, use free vs or look for other IDEs.. Jetbrain maybe -
Ma30h56147yDon't forget that if you want to build an app for Apple products you forced to buy a mac
-
ng190528487y@Alice I got a credit card after a simple talk with my bank as I was 18 y/o. And I didn't have any income at that time. It's really not that hard
-
Qwby4157y@IllSlapU I thought it was a 30% cut. For comparison, a publisher takes a cut of 50-60%, gog also takes 30% and humble bundle takes only 5%.
-
aritzh7527y@YourNemesis unicode is your friend 😉 the same reason you can see that emoji, or this fraction ⅔
-
@D--M Like, right now this is very affordable for me (although I'd rather kill myself in this case) but three years ago this would have been unmanageable in my case.
-
aritzh7527y@bahua being a european, I never inderstood the reason for putting the symbol before the number. You read it as "fifteen dollars" anyway. Could anyone enlighten me?
-
bahua128017y@aritzh
The notation is in the context of currency. The character being present isn't what makes a common pronunciation include the word, "dollar." It's pronounced simply because the notation indicates it's in dollars. $13 is pronounced correctly as either, "thirteen dollars," or simply as, "thirteen." -
Plus that Apple doesn't allow installation from outside the store and limits the installation count, which makes it impossible to have apps under GPL only.
-
How do you get to 30% for itch.io?
Normal value is 10%, but the developer can set it to a free value between 0% and 100% as his will.
That's the special thing at itch.io: The "pay what you want" solution is consequently used. -
@Kashmir because they don't want the app stores to be flooded with 90% of useless projects that don't even make it to a 1.0 release.
Especially Apple's logic goes like this: if one's app is any good, users will want to buy it, and then $99 don't matter. If they do matter because one's app doesn't sell, then it would just lower the signal-to-noise-ratio in the app store, and Apple would like to keep that developer out. -
bahua128017y@aritzh
No, that's the convention for writing currency. But putting it on the right is like typing out "I got a :) from her." -
Qwby4157y@nickpapoutsis haha I didn't want to directly call them by name but N26 is very good in two situations: You need a credit card for those US-based services without additional costs or you want to pay by card on vacation, they have very good conditions for that and good exchange rates for payments in foreign currencies.
-
@YourNemesis google/bing/duckduckgo it. This is unicode as said before😱
@bahua sorry dude, I come from where we write 10€ ^^
@Benedikt read it up, maybe I misread that as well. I just junked shit I found on the web together -
@BambuSource thought so, but haven't seen that before. Was too lazy find out myself :p
-
aritzh7527y@bahua I don like the "It's likethat because conventions". Either you give me a compelling reason, or I will choose the option with more advantages. Putting the symbol in front, for me at least, has no advantage, while writing it on the right seems to flow with the way you write. It is the same about Imperial vs Metric: tye reason for the first one is convention and came out of usage, the second one is well thought and planned...
