Am I the only one who thinks that Slack is so terribly expensive for a small company?

I'd like less gap between "free" and 8$/month/user...

Yes, Slack is expensive, but at least you aren't stuck with the alternatives out there.

I don't know what kind of services you guys use but for an enterprise app that's hella cheap

@xroad let's put in perspective: moving to Gmail businees has been already an "expensive" decision. And anyone is terrified by the imminent "brexit" :/ #timetosavemoney

@skanna I guess it depends on the size of your company. I've used both Google Apps and Slack and IMO they've saved us a lot more money than if we didn't have them.

What's the feature you need to pay for?

@xroad I don't care about the 10.000 messages limit (if it's something important to remember just drop an email) but I see a lot of potential in the group chat by "area", like one for marketing or HR.

I guess I'm just trying to replace mail tho..

@skanna you mean channels or something else? Channels are free

@skanna Have you looked at Flowdock pricing?

Give mattermost a go, it's a open source Slack basically.

@Jacques0130 how did you find it over slack? in terms of features?

second for Mattermost. I host my own server for chats – it's the open source equivalent of Slack.
