jeeper59756yGood luck! You should know that call backs are generally coming In 50 applications submitted : 1 call back and interviews are about 100 applications submitted :1 interview gotten. Just the word in the industry.
-
Root824576y@jeeper Really?
I've generally gotten about 1:4 calls to submissions, and 1:2 interviews to calls. -
jeeper59756y@Root maybe you have a really outstanding resume. But for me I’m 20 apps in about a month and no callbacks. Is what it is.
I recently discovered manager-tools.com and their podcasts by recruiters and hr people about how your resume should look. I’ve been doing it all wrong. So there is that much I need to redo.
Nonetheless congrats! -
Root824576yGot a response from the most exciting of the three.😊 I'll do their challenge this weekend.
-
Root824576yThat challenge was so not what I was expecting.
It took less than ten minutes! I was expecting a two-day project or a timed test, not an 8-line function. (Plus six lines of comments...)
But it's done.
And I feel so much better.
I'll post updates if/when I hear back. -
Root824576y@Wack The point of it wasn't the difficulty, but to see the clarity and elegance of the solution you came up with. If you're hiring for higher skilled positions, things like this make sense, I think?
I did tell them it was trivial, though.
In the meantime, more applications!
Two more today. -
wuhu good luck!
In my last job position I was the one hiring developers for my team and I did the same. Easy tasks are enough because you can see a lot in a few lines. But 8 lines is really really short. -
Root824576yInterview went well.
Sadly, the owner/interviewer is going on vacation tomorrow, so I won't hear back for quite some time. gahdsgashgsakjg
but that's okay, I have lots of other places I'm waiting to hear back from, and I have several more applications going out tonight.
lol I went to the park for the interview because it's quiet and a really nice day out. Cue a low-flying helicopter and someone wielding a leafblower right across the street. what the hell!

I applied to three totally exciting jobs tonight. (!!!)
I feel so giddy ;3
Also: I had no idea salaries were so much higher than what I've been earning. I feel so horribly used and abused and undervalued. Toxic environment, indeed!
I will be so so so glad to leave it all behind. (And finally move!)
eeeeeeee!
