what they say about us in your media? and do you think they are telling the truth?

i know that maybe you seen people in IRAN are yelling "Down With USA", but i want to say they are minority of people and most of Iranian people love America and other countries.
those people are working for government and government forcing them to say that.
unfortunately our politicians are bastards and people cant do anything.
i just want to say Iranian people are not terrorist and we Love other countries and does not matter what is their religion.

In my eyes is Iran a country with really strict laws. Economically hit quite hard by sanctions from the west, and as far as I know the economy blossomed after a few of the sanctions where lifted.

I'm dutch btw, there is a dutch reporter married to an Iranian woman living in Teheran. He has made two documentaries about life in Teheran.

Wow, reading this was so heart-warming! I'm from Western/Central Europe and I can only say that I have heard little news from Iran recently. Thus, I can't really judge the situation there. However, I know this oppression of anti-government opinions, which you spoke of, from other countries like Egypt or, closer to my own country, Hungary, Poland or Turkey. And I feel deep sympathy for people in these countries. Their situation is really difficult... and a solution hard to achieve.

About weaponizing it, currently there is only two or three countries of which has been proven to have nuclear weapons. USA, China and Russia.
North Korea has nuclear things but it has not been proven to be weaponized, they are trying though. Iran has dismantled their nuclear bombs, although some people deny that they dismantled all, but never proof it.

I like Iran. Especially since the last few years where they took a more moderate stance. I don't agree with all their policies but they were taking a smart direction.

The us on the other side obviously have alligences elsewhere and that is why they are pressuring so much. A bit like they did against iraq when they lied about WMDs.

Yeah i have been curious about iran recently and it seems like it wants to go back to a global position where it is respected. And for that they are ready to do compromises， especially social ones and seem to be leaning toesrds pre-cha preiod.

Ain't gonna hear shit from me :) i find Iran fascinating as a country. The people from iran that I have met that live here are flipping interesting( one of them was a badass Python dev) and as such I can only send my heart out to people with bs governments.

Misguided and overly religious; far too strict laws, very militaristic, and with a bizarre hatred of the west. Strong and proud people regardless, with beautiful art and culture. I respect its people, but disagree their apparent views/aims.

However: I haven't lived there, nor visited, and have only spoken/worked with ~25 Iranians in my life, so there is quite a bit I don't know, and it's likely I'm simply seeing US and Iranian propaganda.

Interestingly, every Iranian I have ever met or known has a very different demeanor than what I'm used to: very aggressive and assertive, and a refusal to show any signs of emotion besides anger, at least to strangers. Meeting their anger earns you respect, quite unlike here in the US where it often earns you a grudge instead.

I can think of some old Persian civilization that somewhere lost their way and I remember some fancy art from louvre.
Some time ago I was reading interview with some traveler about helpful people of Iran on some portal and I also watched some traditional cooking videos from Iran.

I don’t trust media so can’t say anything more since I don’t know anyone from Iran except You now 😅

Every country has humans.
Some Humans have adapted to the fact that they can't live alone and need to at least respect other humans. Not more, not less.

Most of the humans seem to just ignore the fact that living and respecting each other is the easiest way - and seperate themselves from others by e.g. religion, skin color, political views or other things. Let's give them the variable name "idiots".

Now... Since it has become quite easy thanks to the internet and globalization to connect and network, idiots found a way to find other idiots with the same beliefs.

But as I've heard from some of my acquaintances who have actually been there, you are still very kind and warm-hearted people. Women rights in Iran are a lot better than they are in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and a lot of countries in central Africa.

@amirbig : Iranians (here in Germany) like to bring a variation of bread when visiting family in Iran, and return with a variation of herbs that amaze us here. (I personally like that extreme sour stuff. Forgot its name, though.)

Iran used to be the beacon of modernity for the East. It was ahead of all its neighbors until the Shah stopped obeying the West and the revolution took the country back to the Stone Age.
I am convinced that the Komeni revolution was orchestrated by the West since the US has spent the last 60 years screwing up that part of the world.

@segfault: it was, Iran was modernized due to oil exports done by a gov that was very western friendly. Look for photos of Iran in the 60s. It was the only country in the Middle East with equality for women, etc.
At some point the rich got richer, the poor poorer and tensions started to rise. The gov also started to be less cooperative with the West.
Eventually this led to the ‘79 Islamic revolution and took the country back in time.
If you look at the 60s and early 70s photos, you will see Iran in a totally different light, it was a radically different country than it is today; but not playing to the West’s interests has been bad for all countries of that area.

Today Iran is struggling with economic sanctions, a lot of drug problems, a large organ black market, etc.

My personal opinion is that once we drop our need for oil, we’ll probably leave the Middle East alone because it won’t have anything of interest for us anymore.
