FUCK THE RECRUITERS WHO ASK US TO MAKE AN ENTIRE PROJECT AS A CODE TEST.

Oh you need to scrape this website and then store the data in some DB. Apply sentimental analysis on the data set. On the UI, the user should be able to search the fields that were scraped from the website. Upon clicking it should consume a REST API which you have to create as well. Oh and also deploy it somewhere... Oh I almost forgot, make the UI look good. If you could submit it in one week, we will move towards further rounds if we find you fit enough.

YOU KNOW WHAT, FUCK YOU!

I can apply to 10 others companies in one week and get hired in half the effort than making this whole project for you which you are going to use it on your website YOU SADIST MOTHERFUCK

I CURSE YOUR COMPANY WITH THE ETERNITY OF JS CALLBACK HELL 😡😤😣

I feel the trend should be towards such recruitments than mugging up algos and DS just for the sake of interviews. If you know your shit, you could do all that in less than a day. And of course, it should be paid.

@tocttou I agree, I much prefer test projects to whiteboard "gotchas".

I'm at a weird place when it comes to this. On one hand I find interviews where they ask you to hand write the code for the game of life or ask you pages of theory based questions to be downright pretentious and annoying. On the other hand I think that a small project submission is better as you get to see how the person actually codes, but if I were applying for a job that asked me to complete an assignment without being compensated for my time I'd think twice before applying as I could spend my time applying elsewhere.

I think a good middle ground is having the applicant send links to GitHub projects that he owns. That way I get to see your coding style and ability. Also, there's something to be said about someone who builds interesting stuff just for the heck of it.

I would like it if there was a real problem that you should solve and you are getting paid for it. I mean that is a real test of the work.

Does a sentimental analysis give an emotional response?

@tocttou I agree the trend should be to ask us to build an app rather than mugging up DSA. But this app is simply way too much. I am not spending my time and energy just for some recruitment purpose, the result of which might not be in my favor after they take all the credit for my work by using it on their website

@Charmgoggles yes. This is a kind of project I would do after I am a full time employee at some company who pays me well. Not for the purpose of recruitment test
