Wanna attend the developer conference?

White and male? Pay half a grand.
Female? Black? LGBTQIA? You get a free ticket!

Seriously, how would they verify if you are gay?
It appears to me that it's easily exploitable.

Where did you get this from?

    @devTea
    https://diversitytickets.org/en/...

    Particularly: https://diversitytickets.org/en/...

    > includes but isn’t limited to: women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, and disabled people

TBH I do not think that it is a bad thing per se, but I hate that it is so easily exploitable.
  • 23
Bitch im lqbt+ an this make me so fucking angry, why the fuck you gotta separate "normal" people from us like this
  • 2
    Whats IA?
  • 3
    @mt3o Intersex, Asexual
  • 5
@ganjaman Yeah, would be more fair if you just had a lottery for people with no money.
  • 8
For a second I read that AI
  • 6
@beleg That is probably the next step! No robot could afford that otherwise...
  • 4
@finiteAutomaton why there are no such letters whos preferences varies from time to time? Having kids made me asexual. Do I qualify?
  • 15
@ganjaman Especially putting it at the same level as disabled people.
"You're female? Pretty much disabled then."

Im not trying to bash disabled people, don't misinterpret this.
  • 16
@ganjaman oh you thought those activists supporting your cause are actually doing it for YOU?

This is all meant to divide the people and weaken society.

All the minority groups fall for this shit and it only serves to make the majority angry at the minority because of things like this... Which then leads to divide.

Next time you hear about someone fighting for some social cause, remember they are doing it so They feel better about themselves with the downside of ruining societies.
  • 3
@MrCSharp have you ever been a member of an underdog social group?
  • 4
@MrCSharp nah em niggas do it for tha money, ey realized dat years ago an now they tryta push it on corps too
  • 13
    @mt3o
If I say yes, you'd claim I'm lying.
If I say no, you'd tell me to shut up because I've never been in their shoes.

You are looking for an argument so you too can feel good about yourself.
  • 17
The good old diversity bullshit, achieved through active discrimination 😂 how about lowering the entry fees for everyone?
  • 11
@620hun didn't you know you can't be racist to cis white males?
  • 10
@MrCSharp Well, obviously. It’s definitely my fault that I happened to be born as member of the tyrannical savage rapist species, also known as white cisgender men 🤷🏻‍♂️
  • 4
@620hun Who would've thought about that (lowering entry fees)?
  • 6
@finiteAutomaton when you think about it it’s actually sexist or whateverphobe to suggest that they wouldn’t be able to participate out of their own merit. Lowering fees would not discriminate against anyone, but that’s not as marketable as false diversity.
  • 1
@MrCSharp don't judge me by your measures. Campaigns like that are to make people more active inside the community. I asked the question, because if you've never, let's say, had to get clothes at salvation army, you don't know how it affects people. Sadly "regular people" are unaware of that, or even bully.
  • 4
Just remember, nothing is free, if you ate getting a free thing you may be paying for it with something that is not money.

And since lgtb is a sexual thing... Well.. You get the point.
  • 7
I am surprised this is legal under EU rules. It would, I believe, be illegal in the UK. There was a travel agent in Brighton that provided holidays LBGT folks. It went under a few years ago after the law changed and they weren't legally allowed to exclude straights.
  • 8
    Positive discrimination is still discrimination.
  • 2
@mundo03 one would for real for discuss it being a gender shit
  • 5
@-ANGRY-CLIENT- it is a sex thing not a gender thing.

Most letters in LGTB (and added letters) describe what gender you fuck.

You can be a BT or a LT or A hetero T etc. (funny how H is not there though)

Has no one noticed it has always been about sex?
  • 1
@mundo03 I'm not sure if I follow, can you explain more briefly?
  • 3
@mt3o i can't explain more briefly than that.
Point is, you get free tickets, you will pay for them with other things.

    For instance, extra media attention.
For all we know, this can be an LGTB dating effort funded by white hetero males
  • 1
    @mundo03 you have such experience?
  • 10
Honestly, any conference that discriminates against any group, I'd want no part of. Why is social justice obsessed with discriminating against anyone they don't like? Love the hypocrisy.
  • 3
@mundo03 so true, it's like a worse and more painful version of selling an organ
  • 15
    Couldn’t resist 😂😂😂
  • 2
@mt3o yes, I have attended free courses and meetups that promote something but end up being a big firebase ad or recruiting event.
Nothing LGTB related yet, thank gewd
  • 4
    The new world racism.
  • 2
@mundo03 so to make you unhappy, they are much better in dating game than non-acronym folks. Not to mention the letter A there, meaning "asexual" as was pointed earlier.

Do yourself a favor and get to know your enemy. Meet at least few LG and T people. And at least learn what's with the "A", in terms of what your suspecting.
  • 5
@mt3o Is LGBTQIA+ restricted to a time frame?
I turn pretty fucking asexual when I have to work on a WordPress site...
And the country I live in has a + in the flag...
    Yay, free stuff...
  • 5
    @mt3o i did said most.
Also, asexual is about sex, about not having any. Yisus.
  • 4
@PonySlaystation you don't get asexual, wordpress fucks you.
  • 4
@mundo03 oh... so that's where my stomach ache comes from...
  • 1
@mundo03 if A is about sex, but not having any, than ask a person without legs of his, let's say, shoe number. It's about foot size, isn't it? Or a hair color someone who's bald. Or which god atheist believes.

    Time frame? Huh?
  • 2
@mt3o that is not the same thing.
    You are saying:
Asexual is to Sexual relations as Alegs is to Shoe size.

Itis more like: ALegs is to legs usage
I could ask a no-legs person if they use their legs, they don't becuase they don't have any. However Asex people can use their 'sex' because they do have it even thoug hthey don't like to use it.
    Your comparison is sick.
  • 1
@vane "only share what you're comfortable with"

Gee, I wish the priest was cool like that when I was in the confessionary...
  • 1
So, asexual are for people without genitals?
  • 6
    I am gay now
  • 3
@Linux i think we established that on another rant.
Good news is, you get a free ticket to the think op is talking about :D
  • 0
@wakuni people who don't want to have fun with them maybe?
I get the scenario was not perfect, but I improved it.
  • 3
@mt3o If you are a poor human which happened to be a associated to a minority group or being biologically female (obviously not a minority), than the problem is not that you are associated with the minority group. It is you being poor. Base advantages on the income and capital of people if you want to fix the problem you described. What good will it do poor people if rich people get the same benefits just for being perceived as a minority. Somebody needs to pay for them and if rich people need to be founded as well while not contributing as well, the burden on non minority poor people will be greater. So engaging in this behavior is hurting poor people. Or have I missed something? Granted this is an exaggeration, but still entirely possible.

Adding groups to this and pretending it is one community seems disrespectful and disingenius.
LGBTAQI+ seems to be a giant lumping together of communities that are "different" but not the same. One example would be how vastly different the culture is between gay dudes and lesbian groups.

Not all but most sex positive groups or communities are pretty lacking of gay dudes due to the way they were and are suppressed. Just throwing sexual orientationsd that you think are different into one big group leads to a lot of 'us vs them'.
  • 5
A diversity ticket... because the only thing we can do to fight discrimination is to discriminate based on race, gender, etc. Got to love the ethical reasoning here, two wrongs somehow make a right. How about they have a system based on financial need where new devs who don’t yet have a job in the field can go for free if they make under a certain amount of money or something? Instead of discriminating based on innate characteristics of the individual? Which is by definition racist, sexist, et al. And isn’t it a bit offensive that they assume women or gay or transgender or whatever devs aren’t successful enough that they can afford a $500 conference?
  • 4
And don’t get me wrong I don’t want anyone to feel unwelcome in the Dev community but I feel like pandering to people like this as if because of their innate selves they somehow cannot afford to go to this conference or they should be the object of pity and charity makes everything worse.
  • 5
Idk maybe I’m somehow part of the problem but the way I was raised I was taught to treat everyone with respect, regardless of their skin color or gender or sexual preferences. And that meant basically follow the golden rule, treat everyone how you would want to be treated, and I can’t see myself wanting to be treated this way. Where event organizers assume I need a handout because I’m a person of color or woman or whatever.

@asinglenoob people going by dr. King's words are considered racist now.. there are only people. Race is irrelevant.
