Frontend devs (of any variety):
Do any of you create your own illustrations, animations, etc for the products you create, or is this handled by designers?

At my current place (app and web agency) we leave it all to the designers, but my manager said that at the last few places they'd been (all web agencies), the frontend developers did that stuff themselves

I used too, now I have a designers for that stuff, so when they don't give me anything, I end up creating placeholders based on conversations or drafts I have seen until something is actually handed over to me, unless the artwork is a vital piece, then it just gets delayed with them in the firing line.

I don't consider myself front-end, but I end up doing a lot of front end stuff. I'll usually add hover animations of some sort where appropriate, and maybe a loading animation, but other than that I have to be told by the designer what kind of animations they want and where.

I did, but now I’m more of the engineer side instead of designing
