So a car hit me while I was riding the bike back from work and I fractured my collarbone. And I have to wear a sling on my left arm 24/7 for 4 weeks now.

But that's not the worst part.

Coding with one hand is.

Been there, don't that, it sucks. And speech to text for coding is not gonna work

@sylar182 I once saw a talk of a programmer who actually uses speech-to-text to write code because of health issues.
He invested quite some time to adapt and modify everything though. He also created a number of custom commands and (I think) some Emacs plugins.

@deadlyRants there is a good discussion on Quora about this: https://quora.com/What-is-being-don...

@deadlyRants I firmly believe with a permanent issue i could find the time to modify things, but as it stands with most "out of the box" software you'd end up typing one letter at a time most of the time.

It would be nice to have something that understood what I meant so I could record code snippets that come to me at the most inopportune moments.

Tugging with the wrong hand is awkward too.

    Wish you a speedy recovery.
While out of box speech to text is not that useful for programming, how abt hiring an someone less skilled who codes as you dictate?
Should I start a call center for such purposes?... Hahahha

How about onboard keyboard? Can typing with the mouse be faster?

@monolithicblob I shouldn't imagine vs one hand typing

    Get well soon

That is so ironic. When I broke my collarbone is when I started to LEARN how to code cause I had all this free time and could sit down for awhile and feel relaxed cause of the drugs. Haha!

    Crybaby.

My left arm was paralyzed 15 years ago, and I have worked with programming for the past 10 years.
