@Stuxnet I guess you're right. It still dominates the world, and since most big boi companies aren't interested in developing their software for linux, this will probably never change.
-
It's fair imo. All the oses have this delay, esp when copying to another filesystem, esp when copying to another device. Except others may not be showing it.
-
Isn't that just because it waits for the hdd cache to clear so all the DAUs do not unplug their external hdd too soon?
-
@Emphiliis And rightfully so. Indicating that an operation is finished when it isn't finished is just bad user interface design. Especially in a multitasking system where the user can easily go on with other things in the foreground instead of having to wait.
-
hitko31485y@Fast-Nop It may as well be intentional, since non-tech people would likely get confused or scared if they saw "waiting for disk cache to flush"
-
@hitko osx -- I'd agree.
Unix/linux -- It's hell of a task to find such a user who would be non-tech 😁 -
@hitko Yeah, and what purpose would that even have? Those who are tech savvy will know anyway that the delay after 100% is from syncing. The rest of the people would not even know what a disk cache is, but they do understand that the dialogue just isn't closing yet.

Fucking love it when the windows copy/move dialog gets stuck at 100% with 0 items remaining and I can't get rid of the damn window for 20 seconds.
Windows is obviously the superior OS.
