Dumbest arrow key design ever.

    I find that layout incredibly uncomfortable.

    @SortOfTested

    External keyboard master race.

    I’m an apple femboy and even I agree.

    Yeah, it's super unreliable.

    @pxeger That's a lie

    Competition!

    @pxeger
    Never understood why Lenovo thinks up arrows should be larger than down arrows.

    @pxeger
    Gotta rip that band-aid off sometime πŸ˜‹
  • 3
    Those small ass arrow keys on the macbook have nothing on the ludicrous touch escape key though.

    Take the right shift & gimme back my right ctrl!!

    But but apple design is the bestttt
  • 1
    @pxeger still I think, I will win by considering home and end button.

    @bahua Do you know any mechanical keyboard that has the same layout as the Apple Magic Keyboard (120€)? I can’t find a thing and I’m about to make my own PCB with Kailh Choc switches.

    Keychron k2, most 75% keyboards.

    @lastNick

    Not familiar with that keyboard. I just swap the alt and super keycaps on a normal keyboard and set it up in keyboard preferences.

    @SortOfTested

    Your pgup and pgdn keys are not in hjkl-compliant order.

    @bahua
    It's Lenovo, nothing is right about it
  • 1
    @kira omg. If MacBook had these I’d remove those keys completely just not to see it

    Dell XPS does this too.

    I had to open my laptop to check for it though, because

    1. I use a Ducky Horizon with my Laptop at work.

    2. I use an Ergodox at home

    3. About 95% of the time, I navigate using ctrl-f/ctrl-h (replace), often with some simple regex.

    When I primarily used vim I was too lazy to learn all the navigation golfing, so I usually went for the / key. Now that I use Jetbrains more, I still edit a lot through search/replace.

    @RocketSurgeon This placement of pageup pagedown makes me hate Lenovos (and any imitators) with a passion. Wanna Ctrl+Left to get to the beginning of that word ? Would be a shame if you slightly brushed the key right above left with the smallest margin on the keyboard and moved all the way to the top of your file...
    Really, I never even use pageup nor pagedown. Home and end would make more sense at that spot, and even be useful, but pageup/down just makes me want to rip the keyboard appart every time I mistype an arrow, which is way too often to be discarded imo

    Linux master race changes keymaps file for great justice πŸ‘

    @SortOfTested did that, then needed to type on others' computers... Fighting muscle memory when in a situation that requires me using an others machine annoyed me more than dumbass keyboards.

    I've now switched to using my own external keyboard (Apple keyboard, just for their Azerty layout that isn't the brainchild of people who were in dear need of a brain... see my first rant for all the good I think of the standard french layout) ; since it's a full keyboard rather than a mobile one, it helps me dissociate them when switching for someone's inferior layout

    @CptFox I just ripped them off, good riddance.

    @pxeger , now that you said it...I am 44 years old and I don't think I have ever pressed the right-shift?

    I personally like the way that HP has moved the apostrophe key away from the standard place. Now when I need it and try to punch it, I hit enter and for example my message to Facebook gets sent.

    Also, kudos to Lenovo for switching the ctrl-key space so that copy/pasting usually starts with something else.

    looks almost as annoying as the Lenovo's L_CTRL/Fn arrangement....

    Form over function?

    Pre 2016 the keys were so damned small, I had to look down and see which button i was pressing.

    After 2016, Apple comes up with this sort of designs...πŸ˜‘.

    @pxeger is hard to use left shift if you only use one hand.

    @kira that's some new level shit wtf πŸ˜“

    Another complaint: I use ISO keyboard for the big Enter/Return smackdown. On my macbook, I will always miss this key because it is too narrow.

    ISO is better than ANSI because of the big smackdown. Period.
  • 0
    @theuser I kinda wish that the left shift was longer on ISO. Maybe the extra key could eat half of caps lock instead. But ISO keyboard is still better.

    I just bought the nutype f1 mech keyboard. Looks promising. Let's see.
  • 0
    I can relate. 😣
  • 0
    @SortOfTested I prefer a full ISO layout and the arrangement of the special Apple keys like CMD or display brightness
  • 0
    Forget about the design. Fucking clean your keyboard first.
  • 1
    @kira i agree. It's been 1 year using it & I still press page up/down accidentally. Ps is that acer swift 3?

    @Charmesal i know right! These 60% keyboards are the worst
  • 1
    @uyouthe I always get lost somewhere as soon as I press the Fn key.

    @CoolSonu39 Yes. Swift3.

    @kira Cool I own the same model πŸ˜„
