Got rejected in interview for Web developer... Interviewer showed company website and asked if it's made in html or WordPress... I said html which was wrong...

Am I incompetent? How can I predict the platform just by looking at UI...?

    You can always use "buildwith" to check the platform and any other details.

    You should have told them that no one can predict looking at ui..

    Doesn't WordPress use html..? 🤔

    @ScribeOfGoD wp is a "compiler" which compiles into straight html, without css...

    Builtwith if you want to use a tool to check, or check source and look for references to the wp-content directory

    Wappalyzer is also a great tool for identifying the tech used on a website:

    https://chrome.google.com/webstore/...

    But why is this important in a job interview? I don't get how this qualifies you or not. 😒

    @AnianZ it doesn't. It's utter rubbish.

    Bad question sice wp generates html.

    One answer would be both.

    @Voxera It generates very ugly html :P. You are correct however if I was being pedantic I would've challenged the guy and got him with a technicality of the output of WordPress is HTML, but PHP is doing the work as Wordpress is nothing but a third party tool for lazy people.

    You are not incompetent, never tell yourself because of that interview. You are a capable coder, and f*ck WordPress sites xD

    @linuxer4fun omg, that made my day :D
    wordpress is far away of being a compiler at all, the comparison even in quotes is funny... sorry, no offence :)

    No, I don't think you are, the interviewer seems to be and you should have got up, pointing up and asking them in return what know how do they've got themselves in interviewing people starring on an empty, white colored ceiling (:

    @tpiekarski oh, it isnt??? And I thought wp were atleast a little bit of good... #burnwp

    @linuxer4fun hehe, guess we could build some module for wp which echos some lines, calls gcc, compiles, runs it and output would be displayed back in the browser... ;)

    @tpiekarski sudo kill wordpress - 9

    They let you run a command? Or just straight up look at it?

    @n1had I think he meant just looking at the screen

    Something tells me you should be glad that you're rejected there...

    @LMestre14 how would you be able to determine that just by looking at it

    @n1had I know right? Like wtf is that company doing in their interviews O.o

    Be glad you got rejected. Sounds like a company you don"t want to work for. Almost every fuckin' website is made in HTML. Ok, could do some stuff in XML with XSLT but if you build a website with that you are even more fucked up.
