Apple rejected my app, because they throught there was a frickin Windows phone on my loading screen.
How insecure can you be?29 -
My GF, an iOS QA, went for an interview with a large enterprise and was rejected.
Interviewer: Your current application is hybrid or native?
GF: Native, because it is written in swift using native iOS SDK.
Interviewer: Does it use internet?
GF: Yes.
Interviewer: It is a hybrid application if it uses internet. You know nothing about your projects. You are rejected.
GF: 😯21 -
My first interview.
Interviewer looks at my resume, asks me questions about the projects that I had done at that time.
Tells me he hadn't done this much when he was of my age.
Rejected.13 -
When you try to become over smart with Apple.
Client :- Ask for all user information in registration screen.
Me :- But Apple rejects app if you ask for personal information you don't need. We shouldn't ask it since Apple will reject the application
Client :- "I am more strict than Apple", just do it.
Me :- But...
Client :- Do it!
Developed the app, uploaded on Apple Store for review and the app got REJECTED!!
Reason for rejection :- Don't ask for personal information you don't need !!!
Me :- (Evil laughs)
It's been more than 15 days now, the app is still under review due to multiple other violations already informed by me.
Moral :- Listen to developers, they have more experience than you or DO THE F*****G RESEARCH !!
True story !!!!7 -
I noticed that urban dictionary didn't have a definition for devRant.
So I posted one.
And it got rejected ):

So I just got rejected for a job for being too introverted.
They were very impressed with my advanced and broad technical knowledge but they said I'm "too introverted to hang out with cool, young people". That's ageism and that's illegal. Anyway.
I have more knowledge than most senior specialist devs (I've worked with them and I know them) but just because I'm a reserved and thinking person, I'm not welcome in this society of idiots and I don't get a job.
Two words: fuck society.46 -
Interviewer: Which number comes after 8?;
Me: 9;
Interviewer: Get out of here.;
I still don't know why I got rejected in Microsoft interview.13 -
Been getting rejected for Linux related jobs all over for the last few months. Yesterday I emailed a company yet again because fuck it.
Got a call today from their recruiter! Genuinely nice guy and he's going to call me back tomorrow! Let's hope this finally goes well 😄20 -

Junior dev who thinks he's hot shit decides to call me a dyke because he didn't like my code review.
Told him his wife enjoys calling me daddy.
He went pale and asked how I knew he was married. He wears no visible ring. I just smiled. "My dyke powers told me so."
He's since been weirdly docile around me, and I am okay with this.
His code still hasn't passed review even after he swore it was just me having a 'power trip'. His boss also rejected the code and probably heard what happened.
I hate working on-site for clients.18 -
Completed a project for my final year CS degree and my professor rejected saying it is of very few lines of code.Hope he learns to evaluate projects on complexity and logic rather than number of lines of code. :/30

After one job interview I ran across this one guy in an elevator.
"Are you an IT? I am looking for one".
I nodded, "Yes, I am". He was about to get off the elevator and told me to save his phone number.
By the time I was about to type the last 3 digits of his number on my mobile, I got a call from my brother and the elevator door closed. I immediately rejected the call.
Unfortunately, the dialer went empty and I lost his number.
I was trying to recall the number but I can only remember the last 3 digits.
I went back to the same floor, but there was around 30 offices and I couldn't find him. I gave up.
Fucking iPhone.6 -
I recently suggested we start giving our releases code names, so that they accurately describe our client's change requests.
The idea was quickly rejected after I suggested the first two code names be "#yolo" and "Leeroy Jenkins"
Apparently I'm the only one that thought it was funny.7 -
That's it. I fucking quit.
Over a month of unpaid work, developing your stupid course, only to get a high-quality outline rejected because "it's not what we wanted" again.
First outline, fuckers ask to do something with a Raspberry Pi and Yocto. Fine, but no Yocto as I don't know anything about it and the coworker doesn't even have a Raspberry Pi to flash the images on. Micromanagement guy (god I hate that word) agrees, fine no Yocto then. So no Yocto it is.
2 weeks later... Course outline is finished. Review stage.. rejected. Needs moar Yocto.
Fine... I'll include Yocto. Coworker was put off the course, I'm exclusively on it now. Time to do it well and get my feet wet with Yocto.
2 weeks later... Course outline is finished and looks pretty good. Review stage.. rejected. Needs less Raspberry Pi. Do it without the Raspberry Pi.
An embedded systems course whose core component is that fucking Raspberry Pi. Omit it they said. WHAT?!!
"Oh yeah but there's this other course that's selling like hot pockets, we can just redo that in videos. Make it more like that course."
You.. you can't be for real, can you? If students want to take that course... What makes you think that they wouldn't just pick.. *that damn course* then?
"But hey" micromanager said, "don't loose hope and confidence, I'm here🤪"
🤪. That describes your level of competence pretty well, you stinking piece of apeshit.
Go back to your micromanaging, at least you don't completely fucking suck at that.
2 times rejected because YOU fucking company's board can't describe your desires in a course properly. You know what, I think I'm starting to understand why web devs keep on complaining about indecisive clients now. Because you know company's board, you seem a lot like those clients from hell. Eat shit.

Well I ended my interviews-adventure finally.
Applied for three companies:
- KindOfBigCompany
- BiggestCompany
- BiggestCompany2
I failed in the last two. But got the job in the first one.
The bittersweet sensation is that I got the job in the first one first and then got rejected by the other two so my last feeling is the rejection one. And I really liked BiggestCompany2.
BUT KindOfBigCompany is actually really cool and has a lot of benefits and also I'll earn much more than I currently am so I guess Happy Ending after all :D5 -
LOL this was actually a true story, it seems she had to delete her twitter account and make a new one! 😂😂😂9

Everything was going fine in the Interview, then:
Company X's HR: "So if you are selected in both X and Y, which one would you choose 😊?"
Me: 🤔🤔🤔 Long deep thoughts...
HR: "😒 I know your answer is X, But why X 😑?"
Me: Oh.. X! Hmm.. 🤔🤔
Result:
Successfully Rejected
#BeingHonest
Moral:
If you are sitting for X's interview, you have to always choose X with no lag, even if Y= Google.
All well; Ends Well: Placed in Y👍
PS: Here, X, Y and Me are real-life entities.13 -
tl;dr: spent 12 hours creating an api for a job interview challenge. Got rejected after 4 weeks with no real feedback, and all I can do is rant!
So I was in the interview process with a company that was a great fit for my background.
Got through a couple of phone screens, and was given a coding challenge consisting of writing a web API with a couple of endpoints and a filter function.
I'm like, ok no problem, I happen to have created apis for some mobile apps in the past, and I pick Django rest framework to get the job done.
Implemented it on a Sunday, wrote a medium size Readme.md and some unit tests and submit. Took almost four weeks and a partial resubmission to get a rejection with no specific feedback.
Now I'm shamelessly butthurt and I have nothing else to do but rant! Worse part is I looked back at the code and in my opinion is solid AF, so I put it on my public GitHub cause fuck it!6 -
Update on my job interviews:
I had four so far.
Got rejected from all of them.
The reason of most of them was that they would have to teach me too much.
I am applying as a junior.
What do they expect? Fucking Linus Torvalds or geohot?16 -

HR really are the scum of the earth. Especially Indian HR.
I tech interviewed this guy on Friday and rejected him. And I told HR to tell him so. Apparently he was "too busy" to type a darn message.
This poor sod who was apparently laid off and was pretty desperate and so he'd been calling every HR he'd interviewed with the past week and no one picked up, including my HR.
Now this lad had my work number because that's what I did my phone interview on. I don't attend work calls on the weekend, especially not interviewees but I had to tell this poor sod that he didn't make it (it was a bit obvious).
This is the exact same HR who rejected a candidate just because they were 2 minutes late to a video call.4 -
FUCK GOOGLE.
FUCK THE GOOGLE PLAY REVIEW TEAM.
FUCK THEIR BOT GENERATED EMAILS.
FUCK THEIR DEVELOPER SUPPORT.
I am trying to launch a fucking action game. There will be fucking guns and muzzle flashes shown in the screenshots. Stop fucking rejecting the app. There is no blood in the icon or screenshots. Stop sending me bot generated emails and tell me what content is being flagged.
A little information on the whole scenario: My game was rejected so immediately I contacted the support as to what was the issue. The guy told me 2 screenshots were flagged because they had the muzzle flashes and damage indicator (call of duty type which tells the direction from where the bullets are coming from). So I removed the screenshots and still the game was rejected. FUCK THESE ASSHOLES. SAME GOES FOR APPLE.10 -
I applied for a job in a small gaming company. They rejected me by saying they can’t hire students.
I was cool with it because they didn’t waste my time and told me their decision right away. I started my own gaming company.
Fast forward 6 months later I went back with a business proposition. They accepted it. Its been 8 months now. Everything is going smooth.13 -
When I interviewed with for an EA internship, they gave me a coding challenge after on GitHub. I tried it out and when I asked politely over email on the status of the challenge a week after, they rejected me with literally I shit you not "no :)". It wasn't even a answer to my question that makes sense. I was an underclassman so they probably didn't think it mattered that they were disrespectful to me. The lack of empathy and professionalism that truly proved to me what a toxic company they are. Any one have any horror stories like this?
I've fancied the thought of being petty enough to try for their interview again now that I've graduated and have more under my belt just to reject them with a :) but I'm not going to get down their level enough to do so5 -

Things happened this year so far in chronological order:
Applied to PhD and got all rejected
Graduated without a job because I thought the last event wouldn’t happen
Decided to take more shots at universities in Europe and Canada
Paper got published and got best paper honorable mention
Interviewed by couple professors and the one in Canada seems to be interested in me
School in Canada, which rejected me before, reopened my case for review
Bank account got closed because my parents transferred me some money to support my unemployment ass and bank thought it was a fraud
The review process took so long I got hopeless and thought, if I end up writing webpages for other people, why not doing it now? And did two webpages which are in my previous rant, pretty good and highly recommended imo
Canada school promised a date but didn’t follow that date, depression attack
Finally sent them an email and got an answer saying the admission approved my application and they are working on paper work. But I still don’t believe it because I’m paranoid
Got an email from a professor today confirming they are doing paper work and I should receive official paper soon.
You can see the dramatic ups and downs, but in the end, guess I’m going to Toronto for phd14 -
thanks to @stuxnet i have to proudly say, that i have went outside and after 21 years, asked a girl for her number in real life, of course got rejected, this probably sounds pathetic as fuck to all of you, which i do agree, but because of the hell I've gone through and blood I've left behind out of struggle the life caused me, i have finally gathered bravery to take a risk and do it, yes i technically haven't achieved anything but i have finally tried at least once and this is the furthest I've gone with girls in real life... what a fucking relief... i think its gonna be much easier now that i finally broke the ice...8

There's this weird thing I am noticing since few years and I don't know if it's just me.
I have noticed that companies are becoming outright sexist, hiring women very incapable of doing anything in tech industry, even for the roles of software developers (My friends were asked questions like, 'Do you think you will be able to perform at this job?' Or, 'What have you worked on at previous job?' and similar questions where it really doesn't require much of a brain to come up with something good). And they got hired!
Where as I remember slogging 4-5 interviews including 2 live coding sessions and rigorous technical interviews at multiple places only to know I have been rejected because I couldn't answer some of those really lame technical questions which aren't even needed in daily life. It didn't matter if I had developed multiple apps that are used by some people over the internet. or the academic record where I was in top 5% every year. Or my side projects for that matter.
It sucks to see this kind of sexism against men! It boils my blood, but yeah, women participation in workplace is very low, so you gotta hire them! (-_-) and I feel only people who will struggle are ugly males.
Call me anything you want, but you have to face this to know this is happening. Especially in Indian tech industry.14 -

This is in one of the big 5 (not specifying which for some anonymity)
I apply for an internship.
I get an interview.
I pass the interview and get the internship.
I do great in the internship. Get an exceeds expectations.
I apply for conversion.
I ace the two interviews.
I am told that the hiring committee gave me a yes.
I enter host matching (ie to find a team to join).
...
And that's it. I never get matched (I only met 1 team that had UI focus and I had previously asked to not be put on a UI team so the TL rejected me). 1 year later I'm told sorry the offer is no longer valid.
The annoying bit is that I decided not to apply to grad school and refused all other offers under the assumption that it was a guaranteed spot.1 -
Dear HR,
I am suffering from Corona and request you to grant me paid leave for 30days otherwise I will come to office
(reply from HR)
Dear Ritik,
after knowing that you are infected , we have immediately asked all other employees to work from home, therefore you can come to office and start working. your leave request is rejected.6 -
I was laid off right before Christmas because my manager would not give me any work (bully.. possibly discrimination). I asked for work to do for 2 weeks, even coming up with things to contribute on my own. My contributions were rejected and the lead developer agreed with me that it was fucked up but did nothing. The little work that I was given was always completed above standard and the lead dev had made comments praising my self tasked contributions but each rejection I was told it would be shelved for version 1.2.
Finally fed up, feeling as though I was being completely ignored, I told the lead dev I was going home half day early if there was nothing for me to do. The next day the CTO fired me and even lied to my recruiter telling him that I had not shown up for work for 3 days (easily disproven).
It's now the first of the year, probably not the best time to be looking for a new job, and my current outlook is that I am not going to be able to pay my rent at the end of the month.
My motivation has diminished, my confidence is gone. Job prospects are few. I don't know how to proceed.10 -
Had a final year project defence today in university. There were about 15 CS teachers in the room.
Our project was "Crypto Currency". After all the presentation was finish.
Teachers: so what is this blockchain?
** explained all about it and how it works with marker in a whiteboard **
While most of the projects were rejected and they have asked several cross questions to other friends, they didnt even ask any question to us and said our project is accepted.
Turns out teachers were taught by a student today, feels so good 😎 😂4 -

"You don't, until I reject your PR"4 -
In Italy (Milan)🇮🇹, job hunting is a fucking hell for misfits like me:
• Young(26)
• 1 year(working) experience + continuous learning/improvement at home
• Skillful and adaptable full-stack
• Willing to do greater things with software without being payed like a monkey
This is the last week working at my current company (from which I rejected the renewal of the contract for 26K€/13 months) and almost every time at a new interview everyone tries to down sell me by default or because of the fucking little time that I've been inside companies without even looking at my skills/capabilities.
Also many little companies made by the CEO and a technical manager that are looking for someone from which being provided food 😒(metaphorically).
(On another side, in one month, me and my gf need to move to a new apartment, the renting process sucks, and she has issues to find a non-slavering job because she is a foreigner(with good knowledge of English and Chinese) with very basic understanding of Italian and I see her crying often in my arms because it's hard and stressful for her to become economically independent as she would like to be)47 -
Fuck all the companies that doesn't specify that they won't provide sponsorship for the applicant before job application.
I applied to this fucking piece of shit company that took me an hour. Created a custom cover letter and modified my CV just for them.
And they reply me with an email saying that they won't provide sponsorship and have rejected my application.

Fucking die in hell. Fuck you.1 -
Fuck Apple and its review system
So, this started in december. We wanted to publsih an app, after years of development.
Submit to review, and passes on the first try. Well, what do you know. We are on manual release option, so we can release together with the android counterpart. Well yes, but someone notices that the app name is not what was aggreed (App Name instead of AppName). Okay, should be easy, submit the same app, just the name changed. If it passed once, it will pass again, right? HAH
Rejected, because the description, why we use the device’s camera is too general. Well... its the purpose of the app... but whatever, i read the guidelines, okay, its actually documented with exapmles. BUT THEN WHY THE FUCK COULDNT YOU SAY THAT ON THE FIRST UPLOAD?
Whatever, fix it, new version, accepted, ready to release just in time.
It doesindeed roll out,but of course, we notice that the app has a giant issue, but only on specific phones. None of our test phones had this problem, but those who have, essentially cannot use our program. Nasty as it is, the fix is really easy, done in 5 minutes. Upload it asap, literally nothing changed from user point of view, except now it doesnt crash on said devices. Meanwhile 1 star reviews are arriving from these users - of course with all the right. Apple should allow this patch quickly, right? HAH
THE REAL BULLSHIT COMES NOW
With only config files changed, the same binary uploaded we get rejected? What now? Lets read it. “Metadata rejected, no need to upload new binary”.... oh fine only the store page is wrong? Easy. Read the message, what went wrong. “Referencing third party content is nit permitted on the app store” meaning that no android test device should be shown. Fine, your rules. They even send a picutre of the offending element. BUT ITS NOT EVEN ON THE STORE. THATS A SCREENSHOT OF THE APP. HOW IS THAT METADATA? I ask about this, and i get a reply, from either a bot, or a person who cant speak or read english, and only pasted a sample answer, repeating the previous message. WTF. Fine, i guess you are dumb, but since they stop replying to our queries, do the only sensible thing, re-record the offending tutorial video that actually contained an android device. This is about 2 weeks, after the first try to apply a simple patch to a broken app. And still, how did it pass the review 2 times?
Whatever, reupload again, play the waiting game for a week, when the promised average wait time is 2 days, they hit us with a message, that they want to know what patent we use in our apps core functionality. WTF WHY NOW? It didnt bother you for a month, let it release ti production and now you delay a simple patch for this? We send them what they know. Aaaaand they reply: sorry we need more time to review your app. FUUUUUUCKKK YOUUU. You are reviewing a PATCH with close to zero functional change!!! Then, this shit goes on, every week we ask about an ETA, always asking for patience... at the end it took another 3 weeks... so december 15 to jan 21 in total...
FOR. A. SINGLE. FUCKING. PATCH
Bottom line is what is infurating, apple cares that there is an android device in the tutorial video, but they dont care that a significant percentage of our users simply cannot use the app.
Im done7 -

Whenever someone gets rejected for a dev job and the recruiter/HR person says "Our team just feels you are a bit too junior for the position at this time".. what they're actually saying is "We, as a company, are just not willing to invest any time or resources into training or helping you grow professionally."4

Made this project "Come Fix Me" in a 24hr hackathon. Won the most innovative solution.
An android application for citizens(users) which allows them to register issues on potholes in their area.
Web for report management
Usage Flow:
User clicks a photo of the pothole and registers a new issue.
The photo gets uploaded on the firebase database along with other information like GPS co-ordinates.
The image is downloaded in the server and served in the pothole detection script.
If pothole is detected an estimated area is calculated, if no pothole is detected user's issue gets rejected.
After successful detection details are uploaded on the web for administrator, these issue are forwarded to govt. officials.
Once the officials claim that they have fixed the pothole, the user gets a notification and they can close their issue if pothole is fixed

It is once again that time of year when we say farewell to our current interns and say hello to a brand new batch.
The two groups overlap for a few days. During this time the old interns show the new interns the ropes, while the mentors silently weep in the lunchroom having realized that nothing that they've said over the last 12 months has had any effect whatsoever.
Some choice quotes:

New Intern: It says 'uncaught exception'.
Old Intern: Oh don't worry that will fix itself on production.

OI: Did you pull the code?
NI: Yeah, but I have all these weird brackets everywhere... [merge conflict]
OI: Oh yeah that happens sometimes, just delete them.

NI: It says "push to master rejected". [we enforce code reviews]
OI: Ohh that means the server is broken. You should tell someone, they have to reboot it.

NI: Where did that file save to? [we use ONLY macOS and Linux]
OI: C:\Users\<your name>\My Documents\...

OI: You can use either pgAdmin or MySQL Workbench. I like Workbench better but I couldn't get it to work, it kept giving me errors.

And of course...

I did the math today. Only 35 more years and I can retire.5 -
Started off as an ok pitch. I was an advertgame developer at the time.
This company wanted a medieval styled platformer with a simple progression system that would integrate with their game store. Sounded like a fun project but when I created a planning and offer they immediately rejected it because they figured anything over 400 dollars was too much for a non AAA game...
Some people... lol2 -
This is a first... my app got rejected by Google. :( I haven't even been rejected by Apple yet! lol10

It has happened again. The EU has passed article 11 and 13 which has now doomed the internet for all EU Citizens.
After GDPR passed, tons of people became more aware that the EU parliament has that much control over everyday life things. Thus there was much more scrutiny over what else they may pass.
Despite expert testimony on why the articles are bad, they rejected all amendments and passed it as is.
It is no longer worth it to serve EU customers. I’m sorry guys, but I’m out.

The past few weeks were not so good to me, but guess what, I got hired today. And now, i'm thankful that i got rejected from the previous ones. Wish me luck on my career as a junior dev. :)8

Got rejected in interview for Web developer... Interviewer showed company website and asked if it's made in html or WordPress... I said html which was wrong...
Am I incompetent? How can I predict the platform just by looking at UI...?30 -
Last week, a company(start-up) came for campus recruitment.
This company was known for its long working hours, giving unrealistic deadlines to the employees, less recreational activities, etc.
Even though the pay was very good, some of them were there just to experience the interview process. All those waiting for the HR round, were half-hearted into the process.
This particular guy(a friend of mine) was so determined to be rejected from the company, that he intentionally screwed up his interview (final round).
Towards the end of the interview, the HR asked him to draw a map/path from his hostel to the building in which the interview was being taken.
Once my friend finished making the figure, the interviewer said “Take this same path, and get back to your hostel”.
SAVAGE!
Even though he was successful in getting rejected, the way he got rejected really crushed his ego.3 -
Got rejected after final-round interviews with Amazon again. Can’t say it doesn’t hurt, but I understand it.
So to make myself feel better, I started working on the idea I’ve had for a while that I realize is going to be a huge time sink and silly, but I love it.8 -
So I'm job hunting and trying to beat ATS systems like the cool programmer I try to be.
Same company, two postings - first position I sent my resume to, rejected me after a day. Second position that I optimized my resume about 2% more, immediate interview request.
Here's the kicker, interview is done using an AI.
So basically I spent time trying to beat one robot just to be video interviewed by another robot.
Welcome to the future ladies and gents.7 -
Gonna go to uni in a few months. So I applied to 2 companies for a side job. (10hrs/week - some kind of scholarship)
First interview:
Of all the applicants I seemed to be the only one with enough technical knowledge to be considered. :)
They rejected me still, because I don't have enough time to have a proper onboarding process. They offered that I could start off in the holidays in the second year of uni.
Second Interview:
Had a test with logic and a little bit of maths. Nearly completed that and then had a technical talk with their team lead. He said that I sound like I know my stuff. They are gonna contact me next week...
I think I aced the interviews, and being complimented on my knowledge feels validating.
Let's see where this is going...4 -
I get rejected just for my beard, they don't like it.. and they're so idiot so they have prejudgments that any man with beard could be linked to terrorism. They literally said that I was the best fit to the post..
But, I am not changing who I am for them..3 -
Not dev related but still a rant:
My company decided that all the network traffic should go throu a virus scanner. But they don't know what the fuck they are doing, so now EVERY valid SSL cert gets rejected by our browsers because the virus-scanner breaks the SSL encryption.
Anyone open for a pishing attack?8 -
so ive been looking for a java internship for the past days but fuck me, ive made a very huge mistake......
I FORGOT TO ADD JAVA TO MY CURRICULUM
*flips chair*
*flips table*
*flips shit*
hopefully they will see my extra message/letter and read because if they only look at my cv, and see theres no java there, im gonna be rejected real fast :(
wish me luck guys, i went from job hunting to internship hunting bc im reallt desperate now7 -
Boyfriend just got rejected after spending 45 minutes annotating a video using a company's shitty product they asked him to learn and utilize for the interview itself.
He did a fine job, if I do say so myself.
He was rejected today, with no reason other than a list of "common things that might have triggered a rejection".
Oh and the classic "we're sorry, we can't tell you why we rejected you - but we look forward to you re-applying in 45 days!"
Why the fuck not? If you're a recruiter and you do this shit, go royally fuck yourself. It's so beyond unprofessional and there's zero reason for it.
If he fucked up and failed, fine. At least tell him why. Be fucking adults. Your shit fucking stinks just like everyone else's, this isn't American Idol or the Hunger Games; you're not President Snow, and even Simon will tell you why you suck.
Fucking aggravating.15 -
So I finally graduated and got a job with a startup. I had to move to a different province to join it.
Hmm, ok sure. I spent a month planning and buying stuff, rented an apartment etc.
All set right? Plot twist.....
Just about 15 hours before moving there, I get a call that investors backed off from investment and my position was cancelled.
Wtf? Did it just happen? I even rejected a big company offer for this and I am unemployed still!!! Can't believe what can happen sometimes....7 -
I've been so pissed off so many times, I thought I should divide them into categories.
- Pissed off at a fellow dev: I told him to use a constant instead of a hardcoded number.
He changed this: obj.method(3);
to this:
public static final int three = 3;
obj.method(three);
- Pissed off at management: I once got a $10 yearly raise.
- Pissed off at a client: They rejected our design proposal because the text was in spanish and they didn't speak spanish. It was lorem ipsum text.
- Pissed off at code: I once had to refactor a 500 line legacy jsp script with HTML, CSS, JS and Java completely intertwined.
- Pissed off at Twitter: They changed their API the day of our go-live, breaking all of their widgets, forcing us to move the go-live date and making me work an additional 8 hours after a week with almost no breaks.
- Pissed off at travel and logistics: They sent me to a hotel in Mexico City 2.5 hours away from the client's office.
Fun times...1 -
Angry email response from rejected interviewee
"Y'all are bogus bullshit company get the <frenchterm > out of Nevada Y'll Yankees oh and suck a dick "3 -
I wrote an app (took all morning until now) that tells me which shows and movies Amazon removed from Prime...
I forget why I wanted this... was it just to screw with Amazon because they rejected me....
The app is also going to tell me what movies/shows were added because they can't fucking sort them in chronological order by release date. I don't want movies from pre-1990s that were recently added...
Yes I could search for them manually but it's too fuckin tedious, gotta turn on like 10 filtering options...
And maybe I just want to run mini-DDOS attacks on their servers...13 -
One of the companies that rejected me sent me feedback which I took gracefully coz u sexy cunts told me it wasn't the end of the world when I ranted about it here. Well now they are offering me another interview and I am hella nervous coz I don't want to fuck it. Good thing is the feedback they gave me were actually all shit I know and use daily in my work, I am just bad at explaining plsu was nervous at the last interview. Now I am worried coz it's on monday and I have not had time to practice explaining the lang well coz work has been crazy (literally on a 10 min break now since 9am..almost 10hrs working) which is weird right coz last year I actually used to teach.9

Got selected for an interview with a big internet giant.
Went there and was warmly greeted.
Thry asked to wait for a bit as my interviewer was busy with something.
Moments later a young beautiful lady entered the room. Her face was the most beautiful thing I've seen in my entire life. I was dumbstruck.
She then introduced herself and turns out she was my interviewer.
Everytime she asked me something I looked at her face and grinned stupidly.
Now even though I should feel bad about getting rejected, I am happy as fuck.
This message is to all cofounders/hr/etc. - please don't allow such beauties to take the interview. You might miss out an A grader.9 -
I was interviewed for a brand new startup, which is now worth +$20m, and I really liked the idea and founder behind. When I met with her, I was blindsided by another developer, who was gonna ask the questions (which is fair!) - I simply weren't informed.
The meeting went on, and seemed great, however we started talking about bug tracking, and I mentioned that I liked "New Relic" (no more!!) and he, the developer, obviously did not, as the mood suddenly changed and he started bitching about it being expensive, and that there were better alternatives.. The meeting endes shortly after, and I was told by the founder that she'll contact me.. Never happened. However I was told by the developer who was hired instead of me, that "another application was rejected due to personal preferences"..
May be small problems to anyone but me, but I just find it disgusting, and it's typical developers to be so high and mighty about their choises ("X language sucks, you should use Y")
I don't blame the founder at all, and I've supported their company since (minus ranting about the shitty product that they ended with)3 -
Just got rejected for an internship position. They saying you are slightly lesser for what our intern possess. Upon insisting they told that both my "skill set" and "logic" is not up to the mark. I am depressed7
-
So both my and my friends documentation for this project got rejected. It wasn't much of a surprise as we both have the same teacher who is very very strict on documentation. We are discussing all the documentation stuffs when he drops this:
Going to Africa and giving all children water is easier than getting this fucking documentation approved.
I fucking lost it xD. Okay, a bit harsh maybe but at least you get the idea.3 -
During my first year of working, I was offered to work part-time at another company. I actually took it to my supervisor and asked for his advice.
He began with a sigh, he knows that I like programming so much and wants the job because I wanna do more programmings. He gathered his thoughts and said calmly, "Look, I cannot stop you if you want to, but think about this, you already are doing programming for five days a week here. Take those extra times you have to develop other parts of yourself. Go learn public speaking or something" or something along that line.
I gave it a deep thought, took the advice, and rejected the offer. I eventually went on to commit myself on volunteering for the next two and a half years, and secured a promotion about a year from that conversation because my supervisor sees improvements in my communications with others and my soft skills in general (unlike programming, you can't volunteer in an organisation without speaking to people).
Sometimes we programmers only wanna code that we forget that what we're building are for humans and involves other humans. You wanna be the best at work? Try to grow on your horizontal axis, too.1 -
FOR FUCKS SAKE
I got rejected from 2 places I had applied to

1 year and a half ago, I quit the job where I spent almost 6 years; My first job after that was as a freelancer for certain company here in colombia, but after sometime I learned that freelancing for local companies is not well payed at all, so I decided to try to work with toptal(a pre-vetted freelancer platform)
So the process included a first interview with a HR person, it was a british lady that mopped the floor with me(she wasn't rude at all but I felt horrible) 'cuz I couldn't speak english good enough, and then I was rejected... Some time down the line I created a rant for anyone that were willing to speak sometime to practice english conversations. @jesustricks and @orhun answered and in fact I got to speak with them.
@amyshackles spoke with me too, I reached her out over linkedin 😊
Just wanted to say thank you, finally I got a job offer with a nearshore company, you helped me a lot there, speaking with you people gave confidence and more knowledge. Again thank you, love you guys.
PS: you don't have to love me back8 -
Seriously.. Getting job apps rejected because I'm over qualified for the job.
Well, if I wasn't interested In the job and staying if hired, then I wouldn't have had written a tailored application..11 -
The statistics group where my friend works wrote a paper about the cost, both economical and in human lives, of the lockdown strategy in the UK. And in purely mathematical terms, this strategy was not a great success, to say the least. They were rejected from several journals, with one them writing back to say that while the work is solid, "it's not a message they want to advertise".
Science, my friends.8 -
Few weeks back a MNC rejected me as a fresher. The interviewer was quite rude. "your are not good enough", his words just took the soul out of me 😑. He said my portfolio website was done by somebody else. yeah! fine mate. We will meet soon5

I just had a WordPress interview on Hangout and got rejected and the interviewer said I build very basic projects.
That's why he can't select me.
What kind of projects do they want??10 -
I swear I almost had a nervous breakdown today.
Advisor at college has told me I won't be graduating until Feb 2019, I'll be 29 with a degree in IT and my minor in software engineering. I feel like I'm just playing catch up to the younger crowd who got there sooner.
On top of that all the entry level programming jobs I applied to have rejected me on the basis of not having my degree yet. They're impressed with my work but they want me out of school. I have to wait it out until I'm closer to graduating.
On good days when I code Java web applets love what I do and I wouldn't have it different, but on days like today I feel like shit and wonder if my degree was worth it, especially when I factor in that my degree only went up to pre-calc on the math end. (I'm thinking of majoring in a masters in CS as a way to makeup, maybe)
I'm frustrated and I feel the same kind of loneliness when I graduated HS. I know there's a light at the end but some days it's just hell.
I'm sure a lot of you have gone through this. Any ideas to destress?6 -
Send an open-solicitation to a company for a medior PHP back-end developer.
Got rejected because "I do web development"...
Bitch, I'm writing an entire CMS in PHP, write entire DNS servers in PHP, write Discord bots in PHP, wrote an entire gameserver in PHP and you're gonna whine to me that "I do web development" because I also know front-end stuff?5 -
I will give you a reverse rejection. Went to two interviews on site with company. They asked me a question, and I struggled. Solved the question one hour after the interview :) asked me to come for a second hands on interview, make some changes to sample code. Did that reasonably well. I rejected them because in both times the engineers we're sitting behind their laptops and were working. 0 interest or engagement on their side about the candidate.
That startup failed some years after.1 -
A few months passed. Still jobless. I am a php dev btw. In stead of giving up. I made a simple app allows people vote up and down restaurants I Melbourne Australia. https://melres.shopshop.space. I learn a lot about nodejs, react, redux, express, mongo, nginx, Ubuntu. I apply for nodejs job, IT support, DevOps, API job, backend job. All got rejected. Due to experience and competiton. I even ask I can work for DevOps for free. Still no reply. In stead of giving up, I keep learning, doing the thing I love. Focus on learn how to learn. Day in and day out. Hopefully it gets better.5

Don't you just love it when backend/website team does changes and no one notifies anyone about it :)
Google rejected two updates claiming app is has the ability to play youtube videos in the background, but the app is more of a dashboard just to let admins view their data O_O
After digging around, it turned out those dudes changed a webpage we were viewing in the app, and included a youtube button, now when you play that video it stays running in the background.
Took me four days to find out that, and only after Google sent us what exactly was violating their policies.

After 4 years of professional programming the most important thing that I learned is "user is stupid".
Once I modified old code that was summing salaries (I added extra column to the result), nothing else. My result was rejected because all salaries was empty. Period of data was from first day of the month from user selected date to user selected date. It turned out that user was selecting 27th day of the month (it was 27th then). I responded that salaries have full month period, and you'll have to choose end of the month... And then shitstorm began, that I messed up previous functionality. I tried to explain, but it wasn't working. It ends up with user selecting any date and I'm doing end-of-the-month in the background^^
It's my first rant, welcome to you all :)4 -
A month ago, a company called my friend for an interview. They had a good talk but at the end they couldn't agree on the salary.
A week later they called him for a technical interview and they're ready to renegotiate with him the salary he's asking for. The Interview went successful and everything seems fine. They told that they'll send him a mail about the offer they're proposing.
2 days later he got the mail and the offer was kinda good, so he confirmed the agreement and they planned to sign the contract today.
After he went to the office and the manager came 1 hour late and he told him and i quote '' I'm sorry your application has been rejected, there's a women that refused to hire you ''.
I mean come on how can someone be an asshole more then this.
Just to add this company still uses eclipse for android development.3 -
In a world of password managers that can generate complex passwords of any length, please for the love of God include why my chosen password was rejected.
Don't decide to truncate the password without informing the user because, and this is key, they won't be able to use your service.

“You want to know the answer to that” is the answer I got to my question about a piece of code...
I guess he thought he’s too good for the job.
The dude had decent amount of knowledge but was arrogant as fuck.
Every time I asked him a question he would react as if I was making him work without pay that too on a Sunday (it wasn’t)
P.S. fucker got rejected2 -
I seriously hate email problems with a passion. Like even when I step through every setting, checking things one by one. Everything seems fine, yet my clients email is getting rejected incoming and out and the only error is basically whoops it bounced! pretty much anything could've cause this.. yeah that's very helpful.7

Today is a happy day.
I just got a job to finance my last year of studies as a frontend dev for two months this summer.
I'll be working as an intern and won't get paid much, but it's still tremendously more than I would've ever made with any other shitty student job.
Best thing is that my best friend works at the same company and we'll be seated next to each other (he also convinced the HR to invite me to the interview, woul've been rejected right away without him).
So basically I am a lucky bastard and they even told me that if I'm doing well they wouldn't hesitate to hire me after my studies if I'd still be interested in a year ❤️
What I'm missing most as a student is to work in front of a computer 8 hours a day. This will be a welcome change and a nice addition to my CV.
Wish me luck! Starting right after my final exams on the 16th 😎4 -
This is meant as a follow-up on my story about how I'm no longer and Ada developer and everything leading up to that. The tldr is that despite over a decade of FOSS work, code that could regularly outperform a leading Ada vendor, and much needed educational media, I was rejected from a job at that vendor, as well as a testing company centered around Ada, as well as regularly met with hostility from the community.
The past few months I have been working on a "pattern combinator" engine for text parsing, that works in C#, VB, and F#. I won't explain it here, but the performance is wonderful and there's substantial advantages.
From there, I've started a small project to write a domain specific language for easily defining grammars and parsing it using this engine.
Microsoft's VisualStudio team has reached out and offered help and advice for implementing the extensions and other integrations I want.
That Ada vendor regularly copied things I had worked on, "introducing" seven things after I had originally been working on them.
In the almost as long experience with .NET I've rarely encountered hostility, and the closest thing to a problem I've had has been a few, resolved, misunderstandings.
Microsoft is a pretty damn good company. And it's great to actually be welcomed/included.2 -
Go to the vacation.
Return back to see all those useless features that should not be part of the MVP, that I have previously rejected multiple times, poorly implemented...
Now we have to maintain this shit, that nobody even uses in real life...
Fucking imaginary use cases... -
My most ridiculous experience with a recruiter was when I went to an interview in a top 5 consulting company. In the first interview they told me that I was great. In the second interview they told me that I was great, and in the third interview they told me that they loved me but that I was overqualified for the job they were offering.
tl;dr I was too good, so they rejected me.1 -
Never put a thing on your CV that you don't actually know. I've seen many people put a lot of languages that they don't really know, just to impress the interviewer and get rejected.
Also, be confident..... even when you are bluffing.4 -
Just got a rejection email from the only interview I’ve gotten.... I know it’s normal but I feel so dejected and imposter-syndromey. When I get rejected from a non dev job it doesn’t make me question my ability, but because this is the first time sending out dev resumes it’s so daunting and I feel useless😞10

I was being interviewed by a tenured Java Dev for a position of android Dev in a big company. it was a glass walled cubicle, and I could see in the reflection that he was browsing stack overflow and asking me the questions. My answers, although correct, didn't match with the accepted answer in stack overflow. sigh. felt good to be rejected.1

Funniest reason to get rejected in an interview...
"While technically we were okay your level, we were unsure of your exact reason for joining GreedyGame and not some other company."
Now I wonder, what's more pathetic, their grammar or their reason.7 -
Lately submitted an app to the App Store, it was reviewed by Apple, everything fine, I released it.
Last week I submitted an update containing some minor fixes - rejected?!
Checked the reason: Apple has a problem with the app icon (which did not change at all) showing a stylized iPhone.
Right now I'm thinking about solving this by adding a Samsung logo to the icon though..4 -

So according to Pfizer, ~39,000 people received a second dose of vaccine/placebo. So about 20,000 got the placebo, and out of that group only 85 got infected in the span of 3.5 months, during the second wave. That's 0.425%.
So they either:
* Proved Covid is not infectious
* Manipulated the shit out of their data
How that fuck is this considered valid analysis?!
If I tried to publish a paper based on such unreliable, statistically meaningless data, I would be rejected without a blink.67 -
Interviewed for a company that needed help with an Ecommerce website, after which I was given a take home assignment to create a small web page displaying books from a DB.
The instructions specifically said to write it in any language or even pseudocode... Upon turning in the working solution I was rejected for not picking their current Ecommerce framework.
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. Clearly they forgot to list "mind reader" in the job description...2 -
So, I was rejected from a job cause I didn't answer one mail asking for a technical detail about my code... my bad for it.
Except I checked the mail every single day and it was neither in mails, nor in spam, nor in the other gmail smart labels, and it magically appeared October 30th, with the date 27th October. WAT?
I am not even angry (I am extremely sad because a remote job would have allowed me to finally move in with my sweet half, but that is another story) just... wtf? How...did it...? WAT?12 -
Tomorrow I am having an interview with Apple.
Before this, I had an interview with gitlab but got rejected so feeling nervous!
any suggestion.4 -
I hate it when I reject their laughable offer and then they just go on and ask from me to recommend any friend for THAT position. Bitch, I rejected your offer for a reason, what makes you think I'll just throw my friends into those positions that I find offensive for myself. And also it's your job to find people, not mine.
And worst of all is when that come the other day with a different and even more laughable offer and I reject again and they again ask me for recommendations and the loop goes on until I HAVE to become an asshole and tell them some swearing words they could never think of.4 -
So a month after being rejected for a position because it is was the holiday season and the cogs were turning slowly...
Fucking bitch (ceo of corp) contacts me and invites me for another talk
Look lady, I landed another job while you didn't want me at that timeframe and your cogs needed oil... Tough loss ain't it lol 😳🙈9 -

Travels to another state, about 6 hours of journey. After finally reaching the office, had to wait another hour for my turn. The interview starts
Q: How long have you been programming?
A: for nearly 2 years, I mainly code in python.
Q: Nice! (Puts a piece of paper infront) explain how the shortest distance between 2 cities is calculated by Google maps using graph theory..
I go blank and stay silent for an awfully long amount of time. Gets rejected.
After coming outside, I ask myself... Why the fuck does a normal tech company need written algorithms on graph theory used by Google maps?7 -
University wants a final year major project which should give an output as a research paper published in some conference or journal. All seems great. Department rejected all web app related projects because it's too generic.. Still makes sense..
And then suddenly, department asks where are customer requirements, where is ER diagram, where are Selenium tests??????
And they still expect a research paper to be published....
Why do they don't understand the difference between software development and research works.. !!!!!!1 -
I got rejected over 100 times. Even for internships. Should I continue going self-taught or should I go back to college?
😭😭😭😭😭
I need help..13 -
Just got rejected for an internship because of my architecture pattern. Learnt an entirely new framework and deployed an API in a week. Sigh
Edit:
Was at a college level. Not completed my bachelor's yet. -
my mom thinks designing something with photoshop or illustrator is easy asf, like after 15-20 mins its done. yeah, sure if u want it to not look as good as it can be when you do it 2 or 3 hours. when i design, i dedicate time for it cause believe it or not, when it comes to that, i want everything to be perfect. up to the last 2 object being perfectly aligned to one another.
she wants me to design something for her and be finished in a few minutes and i rejected her because i still have loads of stuff to do. i wouldnt go to university at 9am just to do them if they weren't that important. and now i look like im the bad kid who doesnt wanna help her mom out ughhh irritating asf, its like reverse psychology.

So I had an interview with Amazon, I had 2 technical rounds and 2 managerial rounds. Now I am waiting for the HR to call, this guy is not picking up the call or replying to my emails. Its almost 3 days now and I am FREAKING OUT!!

I studied BS Computer Science and one of our requirements is our thesis. All of the groups in our section proposed Web Based apps and got rejected because web based apps are too common. So we have no choice so all of us proposed mobile apps. Mobile Development is not in our curriculum so we have to teach ourselves during the development of our thesis.
All of the groups' dev collaborated and taught each other except one group, my group. Since I am a lazy motherfucker, I didn't taught myself how to develop a mobile app (android). So I made a web based app with responsive design, purchased my own domain, used android studio's webview and voila, a mobile app with a web based admin.
P.S. We got the best thesis award.3 -

Wtf is up with this shit?
Maybe I'm just having a streak of bad luck, but in recent days, I ran into this particular issue time and time again.
First with one of our own products - the user appearently not always was shown the newest version due to stuff being cached in the browser.
Fair enough, we had our web-dev find a solution to that, which he did. Until this is rolled out, the only resolution is to clear the browser cache.
I also ran into this same issue on multiple other fronts. For example, there's a remote connection to one of our clients I had to establish via browser. The backend was a bit unresponsive, and somehow I ended up in a situation where my login was rejected. The only solution? Clear your browser cache.
Then we have confluence and jira in the company. Same issue. All of a sudden, I could no longer log in. Worked fine in another browser.
Delete your browser cache.
Is it just that most frontend developers out there are incompetent at what they do or is this stuff broken by design? I don't recall having to clear my browser cache very frequently - in fact, I'm pretty sure I haven't done it for years on one of my PCs at home. What changed?
Ah well, maybe it was just a streak of bad luck. But still ...

Google terminated our Google Play Console account. Neither they give any explanation, nor they send any replies from a real human. All they send are some auto replied emails. Nothing else. No human interactions.
I mean, disabling the account for a few days is fine. But terminating permanently!! Not just that, they say that they will keep terminating accounts in the future if we create! WHAT THE FUCK! Who comes up with these shitty ideas?
Google should know, If they keep changing their policies 100 times in a month, who's gonna keep reading those bullshits over and over again?
Some of our apps got published, later got rejected for "App Description". Seriously?? For App Description?? I mean, If the app descriptions were not okay, why did you publish the app in the first place?? Not just once, but multiple times!
Should they not be a little more considerate? We developers are working hard to enrich their platform, but they don't give a fuck.
Anything we can do to get our account reactivated?5 -
A recruiter presented me to a Company for a 3 months Freelance Position. Unfortunatley I got rejected, however I kept Contact with the Company and i asked for a fulltime employment, they were fine with that and i got a tech Interview Next Week with them. Now my recruiter contacted me and Knew already about everything, they kept asking me what they should negotiate with them. I told them i will negotiate myself as I am looking forward to a full Time employment with them, they tell me it has to be under their name, eventhough it has nothing to do with the agreed freelancing position.. are they allowed to do that ?14

Heard a job position opened through a friend. Passed him my CV since we don't know his email (lol how?)
Got called for an interview + technical test. Came and they were expecting my CV. They somehow misplaced my CV (lol again how?)
Told the interviewers that I made a couple of apps for fun and informative. Tested me by doing a value switch between 2 variables without introducing a third variable. Done and dusted.
A month later, the company that interviewed me disappeared.
That's my definition of the worst interview rejection. Company pulled a Houdini without telling all of their candidates that we're rejected.14 -
For the first time, wholeheartedly prepared for an interview for a major IT firm, only to be rejected coz i didnt know what methods are present in a library i had never used!! Wanted to throw the guy out of the window!! 😑3

It's been a while DevRant!
Straight back into it with a rant that no doubt many of us have experienced.
I've been in my current job for a year and a half & accepted the role on lower pay than I normally would as it's in my home town, and jobs in development are scarce.
My background is in Full Stack Development & have a wealth of AWS experience, secure SaaS stacks etc.
My current role is a PHP Systems Developer, a step down from a senior role I was in, but a much bigger company, closer to home, with seemingly a lot more career progression.
My job role/descriptions states the following as desired:
PHP, T-SQL, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Jquery, XML
I am also well versed in various JS frameworks, PHP Frameworks, JAVA, C# as well as other things such as:
Xamarin, Unity3D, Vue, React, Ionic, S3, Cognito, ECS, EBS, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB etc etc.
A couple of months in, I took on all of the external web sites/apps, which historically sit with our Marketing department.
This was all over the place, and I brought it into some sort of control. The previous marketing developer hadn't left and AWS access key, so our GitLabs instance was buggered... that's one example of many many many that I had to work out and piece together, above and beyond my job role.
Done with a smile.
Did a handover to the new Marketing Dev, who still avoid certain work, meaning it gets put onto me. I have had a many a conversation with my line manager about how this is above and beyond what I was hired for and he agrees.
For the last 9 months, I have been working on a JAVA application with ML on the back end, completely separate from what the colleagues in my team do daily (tickets, reports, BI, MI etc.) and in a multi-threaded languages doing much more complicated work.
This is a prototype, been in development for 2 years before I go my hands on it. I needed to redo the entire UI, as well as add in soo many new features it was untrue (in 2 years there was no proper requirements gathering).
I was tasked initially with optimising the original code which utilised a single model & controller :o then after the first discussion with the product owner, it was clear they wanted a lot more features adding in, and that no requirement gathering had every been done effectively.
Throughout the last 9 month, arbitrary deadlines have been set, and I have pulled out all the stops, often doing work in my own time without compensation to meet deadlines set by our director (who is under the C-Suite, CEO, CTO etc.)
During this time, it became apparent that they want to take this product to market, and make it as a SaaS solution, so, given my experience, I was excited for this, and have developed quite a robust but high level view of the infrastructure we need, the Lambda / serverless functions/services we would want to set up, how we would use an API gateway and Cognito with custom claims etc etc etc.
Tomorrow, I go to London to speak with a major cloud company (one of the big ones) to discuss potential approaches & ways to stream the data we require etc.
I love this type of work, however, it is 100% so far above my current job role, and the current level (junior/mid level PHP dev at best) of pay we are given is no where near suitable for what I am doing, and have been doing for all this time, proven, consistent work.
Every conversation I have had with my line manager he tells me how I'm his best employee and how he doesn't want to lose me, and how I am worth the pay rise, (carrot dangling maybe?).
Generally I do believe him, as I too have lived in the culture of this company and there is ALOT of technical debt. Especially so with our Director who has no technical background at all.
Appraisal/review time comes around, I put in a request for a pay rise, along with market rates, lots of details, rates sources from multiple places.
As well that, I also had a job offer, and I rejected it despite it being on a lot more money for the same role as my job description (I rejected due to certain things that didn't sit well with me during the interview).
I used this in my review, and stated I had already rejected it as this is where I want to be, but wanted to use this offer as part of my research for market rates for the role I am employed to do, not the one I am doing.
My pay rise, which was only a small one really (5k, we bring in millions) to bring me in line with what is more suitable for my skills in the job I was employed to do alone.
This was rejected due to a period of sickness, despite, having made up ALL that time without compensation as mentioned.
I'm now unsure what to do, as this was rejected by my director, after my line manager agreed it, before it got to the COO etc.
Even though he sits behind me, sees all the work I put in, creates the arbitrary deadlines that I do work without compensation for, because I was sick, I'm not allowed a pay rise (doctors notes etc supplied).
What would you do in this situation?4 -
just got rejected after interview because I just cracked on with the coding exercise and didn't ask for the interviewers help (trying to create a collaborative environment) even though I smashed out the solution.... maybe dodged a bullet there5

Applyed for internship for an American company in Japan. Email said I will interview with 3 people at most, 1h each, back to back, and everything will be in English.
But on the day they said I will interview with 4 people, and everything was in Japanese.
They said they will tell me the results within 2 weeks, but got rejected after 3 weeks.
Take responsibility for what you say guys...1 -
Most of you probably know this one but still, it's my favorite I couldn't resist:

Interviewer at Google: How did you come across this open position?
Candidate: I saw a student's post on LinkedIn where he got rejected in the first interview. I am active on LinkedIn so that I can learn from others' mistakes.
Interviewer: I will give you a chance to learn from your mistake. Please apply to Microsoft.9 -
Company asked me to write a small tool as a preliminary step in the hiring process.
The thing took me like 5 hours to do and it worked fine.
2 weeks later I get an automated email saying my job application was rejected.
Like wtf they basically robbed me of an evening of work and won't even let me know why it wasn't good enough. They could be using the tool for all I know.3 -
In my previous job, the head of tech was a bully and my project manager had an affair and probably sex at work with him after I rejected her attentions. They both played against me at work. Not to talk about the call centre there.. Have you ever tried to focus on programming whilst people at call centre talk loud about how often they walk their dog to poo? I've been used there and then kicked out in a very sneaky way. They didn't fire me because I've been awesome (as far as my colleagues said) at work, they just made me want to leave after increasing my salary. I left that job with disgust and indignation. My new job now is far better but still hear the voice of the head of tech sometime as a ghost in my head. If I was another kind of person I would have probably punched his mouth until it stopped offending and harassing me because of too much bleed in the teeth.5

An amazing git story: A month ago coworkers did research and started with merge requests. Their workflow is as follows: A Feature is developed in a branch, then a merge request is opened. After a very short review it will be closed (rejected) and merged without request. (wtf!) After that the develop branch will be tested later, in case of bugs, a new branch per feature is opened.3

Still looking for my first full-time dev role. After being endlessly rejected from every dev job I've applied for, it starts to eat away at your confidence. Makes me wonder if I'm not as competent as I believe I am. :/
Fortunately, I landed a coding interview with Google! It is my dream job to work at Google, so the fact that they even acknowledged me & my skillset makes me so happy and reaffirms my belief in my capabilities. :D
It's pretty odd, that after applying to 20+ open Google positions relevant to my skill level & location and often with references included, then having been rejected from all of them, that I finally got a chance with them when one of their recruiters found me on LinkedIn and liked what she saw. I cleared the screening call, and made it to the first coding interview.
Of course, even with all the interview prep I've done, it was all practically for naught since they caught me off guard with a crazy conceptual problem anyway. (Well, actually, was I 'caught off guard' if I was already expecting to be caught off guard? o.0) I struggled heavily in the first half of the interview, but found my footing towards the end. So I knew I screwed up and that it was highly unlikely for me to get the job.
Nonetheless, Google had the decency to reject me not via an automated email, but through an actual direct phone call with my recruiter. (The cruelty of the automated application rejection system in our society is a whole rant of its own, for another time.) My recruiter told me that they felt I wasn't ready but they liked what they saw, so they will be revisiting me in exactly a year to reconsider me.
To know that I wasn't fully rejected, and that my dream company Google sees real potential in me, is highly reassuring. It means I'm not a lost cause; I simply need to keep looking. Google will want me more strongly once I have the experience that comes from a fresh grad's first full-time job.8 -
Went up to a booth of some small company with nobody in line and they rejected me flat out because I hadn't had a previous internship. they laid out their requirements (which were higher than Microsoft's I might add) and then said they still wanted to keep my resume. i told them that their requests were ridiculous, then grabbed my resume out of their hands and told them I'd give it to somebody worth my time1

Created a simple bot for an online game using puppeteer.
After an evening (and night) of dev and debugging (quite some rejected promise errors), it worked fine and was ready for a 10-minutely cron job.
Fixed a couple bugs in the first three hours. Then started playing minecraft, which lagged like hell.
Opened task manager and saw a list of about 25 headless chrome processes. They had not been closed because of unhandled errors before the close method call 😵
Now added some basic error handling ☺2 -
"We'll reach you out soon"
This is a sign you got rejected without hurting you.
"How do you see yourself few years from now?"
Is a sign that your employer would end your contract or you get to be terminated if you say that you will not be in their company.
"What's your expected salary?"
If you went overboard, they won't accept you. You either lower it or never give a fixed salary.
God why did no one tell me about these sooner. I'm facing mind-reading interviewer/recruiter/hr just to please them.3 -
My paper just got rejected. Again. The first time it was expected. But for this journal, it wasn't supposed to be. Some of the reviewers' comments are stupid. (for eg. I mention a no-loss algorithm fir a game which, so his/her comment is like what's no-loss? , like are you fucking kidding me, if you don't know that, then why are you a reviewer in the first place)
Anyway now I don't know what to do. I'm looking for more journals but all have so high impact factors and I'm not even sure confident to submit again. Had a good mind to mail the editor in chief but well, I don't think it'd help. What do you guys think?
In the middle of another project, another paper, online courses, now this. I'm just done. I didn't go home as well. It's around four o' clock in the morning here, so noone here is awake.
Can anyone hear me?8 -
confession time:
I am php laravel developer with little knowledge about nodejs.
I got selected by one startup as nodejs developer.
frankly I am not better nodejs developer than my competition who were rejected.
I completed oral interview with my nodejs theory knowledge at a time of technical round , they gave us task to create crud with fantastic front end and nodejs mongo as a back end.
I developed front end in bootstrap but at a time of backend, I just copy paste code from github.
and changed everything variable and other proof to hide reality. in mean time other candidates were actually coding everything then I took time to understand this code and I submitted after few candidates.
in last round they ask me to explain code which I explained properly and I get salary 40k/month INR.
I know it is cheating but I wanted this job badly.6 -
Rejected third time in a company. Tired of giving aptitude exam for coding/testing job. #ShittyRecruitmentProcess3

Emailed my PM a new project spec, the next morning he emails me back saying, to stop wasting time and get back to "real" work.
A few days later we had a Skype meeting with senior management and the PM who rejected the spec to go over that same spec document among other projects, everyone agrees it's a good idea including the PM :D

My vocabulary is way to small to express my feelings when being forced to use .Net 4.0. Just spent like 2 hours searching why my Api requests failed.
Turns out it used TLS 1.0 which got rejected by the server. Then I spent another 2 hours finding out how to make it use TLS 1.2. Surprisingly it does work now (although it came out before TSL 1.2 specification). But yeah still a fucking pile of shit.1 -
Barracuda Email Firewall for Dummies:

I just don't get it.
Been looking for a new job for 2+ years and have failed at every opportunity. Numerous white board interviews, code challenges, hours upon hours wasted. Just can't seem to make the next move. I believe I have my soft skills down because I am able talk and do meetups just fine but either I'm too junior or something else is going on.
What started all of this was my latest rejection that I thought I had in the bag. Sailed through all their questions, did a live code thing, all of that being for 3+ hours. As it's called a final interview with them. Not to mention they're a startup, figured their standards might even be a bit lower than normal since they're needing people. Yet, still got rejected.
This sort of stuff, I'm seriously considering just leaving tech in general and probably just go do a outside job. With supposedly everything going for me like working in a hot job market, in a growing tech town, experience, and doing extra coding on my own time to beef up my portfolio. Doesn't matter. Still continious rejection. Lol in fact how I even got my current job was through completely unconventional means and based on that, I think it's done me more harm than good, which is why I'm trying to leave my current job and go into a place where I can be a better developer.
As of now, back to the grind of trying to find something.7 -
@lazyDev reminded me of the time my bid for a project was rejected because I'm a white man. Never mind the fact that I have built my career around data management, visualisation and modelling and the only other competing bid was from someone who had experience in mobile development and little else. I checked up on the company and the project just now, and they've posted the project up again. I've made a bid just like I did before, only this time I've tripled my price. Let's see if they change their minds.3

Such glorious Wednesday...
#1: Friend needs me to keep her cats, hasn't called yet to give me keys (and she's leaving tonight).
#2: Got an e-mail from a job I applied, rejected cause I flunked the impromptu technical interview (with the usual pretty wording).
#3: Helping a friend with his dissertation code in Java. Just a marvellous spaghetti code with minimal semblance of a structure and a hodgepodge of various solutions found on the Internet. 2H 40M and still nothing... At least I have my stress ball to save me from mental breakdown...1 -
THREE DAYS of debugging, reading all the logs I could find, creating tens of new logs in our appliaction, and SUDDENLY an email from your IT admin:
"Hey your CURL requests are being rejected by my !oh so secure! firewall rule".
Not that I haven't said at the beggining, that THIS IS YOUR F...G NETWORK PROBLEM because we get "connection reset by peer" errors, and you ASSURED that everything is CHECKED and OK!5 -
I was walking in the cineplex after watching a movie today and saw an advertisement for "a digital loyalty card platform for retail outlets. Get loyalty cards on your phone!" being used by a big brand in my country.
The thing is, although not a terribly original idea, I first thought of developing a system/platform like this all the way back in 2012. I coded it, I advertised, I lobbied HARD; I poured my damn soul into this thing. Nobody accepted it. I scrapped it because I thought it was just not a good idea, only to see what is essentially a clone of it being shown off and lauded as a brand new innovative solution.
I won't lie, seeing that ad so prominently and proudly displayed really crushed me. I honestly don't know what makes their rendition better than mine, since mine did pretty much the same thing theirs does and my design chops are pretty much on par with theirs. I was rejected and I don't know why and that stings more than the countless other times my other ideas were shot down because of market mismatch, logistical flaws or just shortsightedness on the part of potential customers.
This isn't an invitation to a pity party, and I can't say there is a moral to this little anecdote, but I feel moved to share this experience with you guys.
Pick from it and learn what you will, I hope this falls under the eyes of the right person out there.5 -
1. Put idea on roadmap
2. Work out simple implementation
3. Productowner-san, please notice me.
4. Other devs pile on cool but complex ideas
5. A 4 hour meeting later, original simple idea is rejected because it's "out of scope" and there is "no consensus about implementation"
6. I already built it during the meeting
7. I sip my coffee while I enjoy the annoyed gasps as coworkers receive PR notifications.
8. FUCKING DARE TO REJECT IT COCK SUCKING SCRUMBAGS.2 -
All this suffering in hope of a free US trip.
It was a horrible day today..
By afternoon, my eyes were stressed and my head was feeling like exploding and i had this rage against everything. I guess my BP was rising. I think this work life is taking a toll on my health.
I felt guilty doing this to myself.
As a cherry on top, on my 1 hr commute back to home, the only available seat in the bus was beside a drunk guy. I didn't give a fuck about that and choose to take that seat. He was blabbering, singing and falling off from the seat often. Everyone staring at me for daring enough to sit beside him, probably thinking I'm crazy. I'm just glad he didn't became violent, i would have lost my control otherwise.
I think I'm not made for working for other people's ideas.
But this job will decrease likelihood of my US visa application getting rejected.
I'm planning to resign from my 9 to night work life after coming back from this upcoming US trip.4 -
Got rejected from a really nice opportunity today. Irrelevant experience as it seems to the company.
As it turns out I'm an unlucky beginner in the industry who's stuck with a wrong, legacy code project. Doesn't mean I don't know anything and I can't learn new stuff. They were not judging capabilities, just judging people by the project they're working on in their current firm.1 -
Just realised that I've not been on Twitter since downloading this app; just popped on and rejected 8 follower requests from bots, had a look around ... Saw it was still shit and came back here 😬

Hey everyone!
I am looking for a decent VPS provider with adequete privacy settings, but most importantly, u guys like and is cheap.
I looked at hetzner (but it rejected my id proof for some reason) and contabo (but it has a one time setup fee which i am reluctant to pay, but will pay if there r no other options).
I'll probably go with the cheapest plan depending on specs.
Budget is $5 😅
thanks ❤️❤️26 -

I didn't know PHP was created as a "template language" and Rasmus Lerdorf(PHP's creator) himself rejected PHP to be a "business logic language" at first. But PHP 7 Freaking rules!4 -
So my paper submission was rejected for the second time. I truly believed in what I have done but apparently these 2 years of research are going to the recycle bin. I didn't even print the thesis to save on paper, so it's the recycle bin in the computer I'm talking about..
I guess research is not for me after all..5 -
I was rejected by the company that I had already made plans to work for, all of it was perfect, but I just got rejected based on a video response question basis. At this point I'm down so much that I want to leave the field. I feel like I'm giving up way to easily and especially since it's only a start to my career but I just don't know if I am good enough anymore, the hesitation to write code has set in and I don't know where to go anymore... where or how do you guys get your inspiration?3
-
So, if the company doesn't reply or mail you back after a video interview, do you mail back or simply assume you are rejected?3

UPDATE: I redesigned my entire app and resubmitted it: it got rejected again for not having good resolution on iPad. My app literally doesn't make sense to use on an iPad... What should I do? I tried incorporating autolayout but that is honestly the hardest and most annoying tool Apple has created.8

Huge mistake on a customer billing procedure.
That procedure was generating a file for automatic billing requests from our customer bank to his customers banks.
That procedure was shifting the bank coordinates by one byte right making all payment requests invalid and rejected.
That month the customer got nothing from invoices (more or less 80k euros).
Side note; only one payment was accepted because the guy entering the invoice on the system shifted the bank coordinates by mistake, so the procedure fixed it.

Working on a very simple report in C# with DexExtreme.
Got rejected by boss for more than 5 times.
😢
"We don't use comma, the line looks like doubled, the title isn't right, one field is missing..."
Feel so depressed 🤦♂️
I don't even write C# normally1 -
I just got rejected by Amazon. Feeling a little demotivated right now. I have been told that I was pretty close and should reapply within 6 months. I too think I missed it by a small margin. Mostly behavioural questions they ask. I have spent entire pandemic lockdown solving leetcode, doing system designs. I guess at least I have some knowledge with me right now. It could have changed my financial situations by huge margin. Alas! shit happens in life. Not sure what to feel.6

A couple of years ago, I was invited for an interview after applying for a part time job as a C/C++/Assembly developer with customer contact to earn a bit of money while studying at university.
Throughout the whole interview they didn't ask me a single question related to the work I was expecting to do. Just a couple of questions about my team skills, how I would react in certain difficult situations and how my studies were going. Nevertheless they seemed pretty pleased with me and asked when I could start.
I was somewhat irritated by that, especially because I was still a beginner in some areas and made that quite explicit in my application. I asked what kind of projects I would be working on and what skill level was expected of me.
"It's pretty straightforward. Just pick up the phone and go through the checklists we'll provide. You'll pick it up quickly."
Wait what?!
Turns out they didn't have an opening for a programmer. They were looking for somebody for a first level phone support minimum wage job and simply used an old ad for a programmer's position "to attract more technically minded people".
I rejected respectfully...
What the actual fuck? Who even does something like that?1 -
Hey guys
I've been working on a game for about two weeks. I built it in unity, and after spending 25$ on publishing it on the PlayStore, it took like a week of waiting, which was very frustrating, since my app got rejected due to privacy policy issues wherebi apparently did not mention a link which redirects my goddamn users to a site that has privacy policy details of my app. Honestly, Im just 16 and if this is what indiegame devs go through, i probably have to search for another job.
Its been two days now and even now when I search for my all by its name, it Does not show up. I mean, 25$ for shit and anither coulle of dollars for a stupid website that has privacy policy content for which i hqve to pay every week, is STUPID.
Guess what, I realized that I barely git any installs after promoting it like a madman on different social media platforms. Here's a last try😒
Hey would you like to review my android app?
It is a infinite runner available on playstore!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...
It features rockets dodging obstacles. I think you should definitely check it out!24 -
I applied for a job as Frontend Dev, went to an interview and was rejected... Well they offered me to come to another interview for another position and if I'm lucky I will do animated and interactive Banners with CSS animation and JS in the future! So freaking awesome!2

One month ago, two tickets were opened by two different people for the same bug.
I picked the one with the most informations and rejected the other by giving the ID of the other ticket, and then assigned it to the person who opened the ticket.
Today, I see that ticket coming back to me, with the status back to Open, and the comments "The ID given is this ticket's ID!"
I mean, yes, I did a typo and typed a 5 instead of a 6.
They could, like, test to see if it was patched (been one month), or contact me by mail or Skype to ask me if I didn't make a typo in the comments, but no, they decided to reopen the ticket for this.
Thanks. -
I'm so f*cking tired to have a lot of work rejected just because "I don't like it", because "today I like this thing, but tomorrow maybe"...
1. You are NOT even a designer
2. You have NOT a f*cking plan on what we are going to do in the next weeks
3. You are crazy AF because you pretend to have always what you ask without any kind of explanation, changes included..
YOU ARE NOT A LEADER.
YOU ARE JUST A bOSS.4 -
Without Unix, there would have been no Minix (Tanenbaum et al.) orGNU (Richard Stallman et al.).Without Minix, there would be no inspiration to write Linux. Remember that Linus started his “project” because he didn’t like many of the design decisions Tanenbaum has taken in Minix, including the microkernel. In fact, Linus has tried to submit some changes to the professor and the latter rejected them. So the young chap decided to write his own kernel using his design.Without GNU, there would be no open source tools that Linus himself used to write, compile, test and distribute his project, to become a few years later a global phenomenon. Also, the fact that GNU was already an established Unix clone (minus an operating kernel) at that time helped Linus to focus on the missing part, the kernel. Otherwise, he would not have known where to start. And finally, Unix was the template all of the above (and more) were trying to imitate. Without it, there would have been nothing to clone from.1

I live in a country where Dollars are of very high value, I got a job fteelancing and made some money, after that a friend's brother approched me with some fantastic ideas (I guess he thought of them because 'Hey, he made money, I can too') like building an online game, I told him that i wasn't either a designer or a game developer and he told me that I could go and learn... Yeah like if I can learn game development in a week or be a designer in the same amount of time. When I said no he told me if I didn't want to build a porn site, I kindly rejected again and told him that I like to build tools that are useful for other people then he said that he just wants to make people spend money on internet like if money was going to rain quickly. I didn't even ask but I'm sure he wasn't going to pay me for development. I'm sure that when I see him he's going to tell me more "Fantastic ideas"2

My manager always tell that we're less process oriented and self sufficient.
Later on, I understand what that means
- Poorly written JIRA tickets
- JIRA tickets with only title, rest for you to fill
- Two teams did same task, client side team pushing their change directly on master, while mine still waiting on code review will eventually get rejected
- Client writing raw SQL in ORM framework instead of using any single feature of ORM.4 -
100 weeks is a long time, and I'm not even sure I'm gonna survive! But my roughly estimate is by:
- wk125; I've managed to live on my savings; Because I'll (try to) finish any project and just focus on my thesis.
- wk150; I've defended my thesis. Now I apply for PhD and get rejected.
- wk175; Begging for my last job to get hired again.
- wk200; Thanking myself for not buying bitcoins back then.
Probably I'll also manage to learn Go somewhere there.2 -
Got rejected in an interview today, because I lack knowledge in Data Structures and Algorithms. 😔😞
I guess I'll have to bursh up my Algo skills again.3 -
So as expected, due to the rush of the submission on Friday, the app was rejected.
I'm fairly certain they never got past the first screen or two.
We have some things to fix, and some things to tackle properly now, which is quite nice, however the current main issue numero uno is that an Apple developer account can take up to 10 days to be created, and Go Live is next Monday.
I wonder who will get the blame for not taking on the "Investigate the iTunes release process" ticket that was in Jira, assigned to someone for ~4 months. -
So I was glad that I finally completed the project for my bachelor's degree after fixing random bugs.
Here came this shocking news which left me stunned.
Some other batch bought a similar project from a project centre(lifeline for noobs to pass university project by buying projects made by someone else).
Head of the Department sent me a message that the project done by my team(95%me) is rejected as the other batch also has a similar project. He's aware that they bought it from a project centre. He's defending them that their money would go in vain as they bought it already.
I was like WTF!! Srsly? Do you even know what it takes to make a project functional? I've no idea what I'm going to do now.

Is anyone else annoyed and / or bothered with how google handles the publishing of apps on its store.
Like I have an account for a client with the clients name and all other his data. I publish a new app on his account with the same name as his account and the app gets rejected for copyright violation because the name and material are copyrighted to the client who is publishing the app.
This is the scenario:
Lets call the client Luis, and he has a developer account named Luis with email luis@luis.com
And the app is called Luis, but when I tried to publish it it was rejected because it contains copyrighted material from Luis.
Wtf?!?!???
Like I understand they need to protect the store from fake apps and all, but how do I give myself the permission to use something I own ?
And now I need to find a way for a client to make a contract from him to him for his material so that google will publish the app -
A bit late for wk61 but here goes:
Does anyone have any advice for an older dev (just turned 50) during job hunting?
One of the devs on my current project was let go some years a go, and hasn't found a new job yet.
He keeps applying to positions, but keeps getting rejected and being told "we went with another candidate".
Choosing the young buck who will leave in a year over a older dev who still can contribute for ten years seems like the most common descicion.
I hired him on the current project I'm doing for a client, which is on iOS, and I've thought him swift and the general process of development on ios. And he's taking to it really well :)
I hope this will better his chances, but the current client won't have the resources to hire someone full time now.7 -
Just got accepted as a Tutor. I have to teach PhD students in medical field SciKit package for image processing. Been coding in Python using pandas and numpy for years, but I know jack shit on SciKit.
I applied just for fun and got the position. Now I am fucking terrified.
Meanwhile I rejected a Teaching Assistant position because of this one.6 -
F the app store. My app is getting rejected because they claim 10% of my product should not need an user account to view. Now I have to spend another week changing my frontend and backend, delay my launch, just to satisfy what is essentially a stupid Apple-only UX requirement. This exact same binary was approved a week before... Seriously, screw the reviewers and the high horse executives at Apple.4
-
When you need Google's internet the most ..it decides to mess with you..triple checked the otp to make sure it wasn't my mistake ..entered it thrice and it gets rejected ..only to accept it when the train arrives2

FUCK XCODE. FUCK AUTOLAYOUT. I have been working on my app for eight months, perfecting every detail and making the UI absolutely stunning. Today, Apple rejected my app for not supporting iPad. My app was not supposed to support iPad, I would hate for a user to install on an iPad. So, I said whatever and tried to autolayout the app. This didn't work, so I turned off autolayout. Guess what. My entire layout was destroyed and when I tried to click the undo button, nothing happened. This is classic Xcode. I am so fucking pissed, I want to scream. I just lost months of hard work because they can't fucking get their developer tool working, but they can release a phone with no headphone jack.4

I don’t want to come across as entitled, but what kind of person gets a software internship in California?
I go to university in California, I’m a junior CS student, I have 8 public ios apps (2 charted in US, 1 acquired small sum [5k]), I completely designed the blockchain parameters and built multiple front-end apps for a new cryptocurrency (it hit 3mil$ market cap).
And I applied to 22 tech companies. Rejected from pretty much all (waiting on my dream company still). Do they just not even get to some applications or do I literally have to be superhuman?5 -
Did a project in my first year of "vocational education"
(in the Netherlands there's different levels of studies)
For some big Corp.
They were amazed by what I had made (really just a simple website) and offered me an internship on the spot. Then they asked when I was finishing my bachelor's (hint: vocational education is one level below) and when I told them I was a first year student of that vocational education they basically told me they aren't allowed to hire anyone that doesn't have or isn't pursuing a bachelor or master degree...
That felt really bad, getting an actual offer based on my skills but be rejected for my level of education.
But it has made me want to prove them I can do it, and so, I am now in my first year of computer engineering.1 -
Just submitted my first ever pull request on GitHub. Here I am frantically waiting for it to get rejected or take my first step towards the Hacktoberfest shirt 😁1

It's 2am and I uploaded to app store without updating the stupid plist.. I'm sure the build is going to get rejected.. F*******ck

What should I do with a guy, who rejected help, promised to do the work and just didn't even try to do it?5

Question for all Dev..
I recently apply for a front-end dev and I got rejected. I than apply to many other jobs offer for the same position and got rejected. This is really putting me down and disencouraging me to continue (but I know it shouldn't) I just want to know if anyone else went through or is going through the same thing and how did you find the strength to stay positive. How many times did you get rejected before actually finding a job? And how many times people have told you no? This goes for freelancer and business.15 -
I just tried to download Photoshop CC. On Linux. Just to give it a try in Wine 3.0 and see if it works.
Adobe rejected my humble request with "Your operating system is not supported."
Ok.
I switched my user-agent to Windows and voila, it tried to give me a dmg installer.
A. Fucking. Mac. Installer.
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED DO TO WITH THAT ADOBE YOU STUPID CUNT!12 -
So I made a pull request on a PHP public repo fixing line lengths and adding some spacing for readability. All in the hopes of improving it to follow PSR-2 standards which they specifically say they follow.
Pull request got rejected, reason: "No thanks, the code is good enough."
Lol! 😐Time to move on to others who appreciate help. -
WHY DO COMPANY POLITICS ALWAYS HAVE TO INTERFERE WITH OUR WORK!
CAN'T MANAGEMENT JUST AGREE ON SOMETHING AND ASK US FOR SOMETHING CONCRETE?!
Once two of my seniors had a personal problem at work that was originally a problem in a project I was assigned tasks for. When their "discussions" reached a dead end, emails became aggressive. Then, the two "seniors" kept making sure that the requests of the other are rejected.
IT WAS MY FAVORITE PROJECT 😭1 -
HR:why do you want to join this company?
My friend(trying to be oversmart):why do YOU want to hire me?

Recruiter rant.
Me as a fresher.
Submit your resume?

Yes, but I will need a copy.
Don't you have it in your inbox.

My old client, contacted me for a new project. He contacted at the right time when I'm getting rejected for jobs and just simply being bored with college. Excited to have extra cash to have fun at college and have a working purpose.2

I live in a college, sort of..
2 hours ago, the power was lost unexpectedly for less than a minute and then came back. Internet didnt tho.
They dont handle their own infrastructure in this college thingy, they hired a school to do it (it sounds fucked up, and it is a little fucked up).
Now little me is becoming impatient and offers my help. Gets rejected.
Additionally, i just started to have a fair sleeping schedule, and noe because the internet isnt working im about to fall alseep before lunch again.. i hate the people responsible for IT here..3 -
This is git.
You code whatever, add the files, commit and push.
Just keep doing at repeatedly.
Until your push is rejected, in which case you delete the local folder and re-clone the whole thing.

I rarely donate money to charity, but I consider myself fairly charitable in other ways. For example, I rejected the 16th "billion dollar app idea" presented to me over the course of a few years, today. (Counting only ideas that come from semi rational people). I do believe I make the world a better place.

Working on an application - everywhere an enum should be is a database table instead.
Me: What happens when someone changes "rejected" to "approved" in your status table?
Me: What happens when you re-seed your database and the indexes for your types are different?

Image you fire 10 resumes each day. No reply. Image you do 2 interviews each day. Got rejected. Image you cold email 10 companies. No reply. Life is meaningless and useless. Looking for job atm, pm me if you have one. The thing I can do is do side projects and keep applying. Life is sucked.3

Stupid manager/boss
my good idea always get rejected first so badly.
Someday ,i proposed a good idea. after meeting with client he said "yeah we actually working on that by using this and this idea" like he's the one who found it, then he said do that idea of yours.
Then someday, i do split the repository to make things clean in approval of my other boss which is more weird. Then after split it up i got bashed from him infront of other team.
But after critical phase that make me night work. He says "we need to split it up to make this easier". Fuck. If we do it first. We dont need to take night work.
Come on, actually i never do something only based on my task. But i do want create better environment on the office. At least morale up your fuckin employee dont bash them everyfuckintime.
But yeah, like buzz said.

So... we are changing our cache system to a fastest one.
I suggested an update method (with code samples included) as we currently only manage insert and remove... making impossible any modification of a list in cache without getting the entire list, modifying whatever we want and insert again everything.
Answer: 'It could work, but we want to keep the previous system behavior'
Why. SMH3 -
So I just got rejected from a company I always wanted to worked and that paid almost best $$$$ among others. During the recruitment I was almost convinced I'd get hired (recruitment process was 4 months long). I cleared all the rounds in breeze. Yet I didn't get the offer. Now I'm sad.2

A recruiter calls me without any notification for a job I applied. The first qn i get is what is the salary I expect and how much work experience I have. Straight up rejected saying not enough experience. It wasn't a fancy company but surely looked decent enough. Is this pretty common or did I just dodge a bullet?2

Got a call by a recruiter for a function i already applied at and already got rejected as well.

devRant, Ineed your advice / help. This following year I'm going to study in the afternoon again. Since this year I don't have to do an intership, I wanted to start working in the morning. There are some problems though:
I never had a job
I'm still 17 so, even if I can legally work, companies don't like to hire underage people
I'm a punk, so even if I'm a really passionate person and I try to give my best always, I've already had been rejected because how I look (literally)
So, I wanted to know how can I build a professional looking CV and how to show to the requiter my GitHub (and now gitea) accounts, if I should clean my repositories, etc...
I'm basically searching advice on how to get my first job. Skills aren't the issue since I know how to code, manage networks, server infrastructures...
Thanks :D18 -
I've never rejected a pull request, I just out in loads of comments with constructive criticism.
When shoukd you reject and when should you just sdd in comments?7 -
1) Have a great idea
2) Ask a friend who knows how to code to do all the work
3) Get rejected

I thought that making an android game was gonna be easy.
And it was easy.
I created everything from zero: logo, banners, UI, etc.
Yet today was uploading an update for internal test (friends and whatnot) and 2 minutes later I get an email from Google saying that my recent update was rejected due to "violation of impersonation policy".
Like what the heck
Did my research on the type of game I was doing, and nothing matched with what I was doing and yet I got banhammered :(1 -

Basically, there are two types of recruiters:
1. "Hi there. After reviewing your profile, I believe you have what it takes to be a <role> in our company."
2. "Hi there. After reviewing your profile, I'm convinced that you have what we need as a <role>."
Interestingly, the former tends to ignore your response if you rejected their advance, while the latter tends to follow up with a "just reach me out if you changed your mind", or even a simple "I understand, thank you for your time".1 -
Bruh, tbh, this is kind of going to be a sad rant.
tl;dr: LEETCODE THE FUCK UP AND GET INTO FANG.
For all the people out there, just stop fucking around with small companies/startups early in your career. Leetcode up and get into FANG. Once you have that validation, these startups will be much easier to get into.
I have gone through this first hand.
After amazing on-sites with multiple startups, where everyone said that I'm the kind of person they're looking for (background wise: CS grad, startup experience, 2+ YOE as a fullstack Dev using Java, py, js and all the famous frameworks you could name), they rejected me.
Heck, a company flew me out to SF from Seattle where I think I had had my best on-site ever. They rejected me today. The sad part is that I actually for once really believed in the mission of the company.
At this point, I have wasted so much time reading about the xyz startup that's about to disrupt pqr industry (to prepare for behavioral/cultural interview), practiced for such shitty interviews like pair programming etc., worked on numerous take home projects (completing all those "bonus" parts) and deploying it and spending money out of my own pocket for that.
I'M JUST FUCKING DONE WITH THIS SHIT.
I have given mock interviews with ex bosses and friends and they told me that I'm good. Heck, I even solved a LC medium in 20 minutes (optimal solution) but still got rejected.
I'm kind of writing this for myself and people who are on the same boat as I am:
Get into FANG and then think about other shit. STOP looking for smaller companies and being scared of getting your ass kicked by a Leetcode interview. Any company who would not take LC interviews will prefer someone from FANG unless you're lucky as fuck. You don't want your career to be based on luck, man. That shit's not gonna take you anywhere.4 -
The company I work in recently made a subdomain where you need to figure out how to hack the page using a vulnerability they subtly put there. If u are successful u get an interview. I looked it over for fun and was able to do it. But since i already work there i was thinking of telling a friend id love to join us but was rejected a month ago when they interviewed him about how i did it so he can apply maybe they give him another chance. do you think I should do that?
Note that i referred him last month and hes a fresh grad with not much experience4 -
Took me almost 2 months and interviews/assignments of couple dozens of companies, century of applications,
but ....Finally !
Got a Full-time job offer from a great startup. YC funded/graduates.
Was rejected by the same startup one month ago, but the core members are great, and who gave a shot on me.
One month later, I got the offer.
Got a really good compensation. Would be earning almost 2.5x than rest of graduates from my college who always scored 2.5x of what I scored.
Would have loved even more if had received back-end role, but front-end is also pretty good. -
Got rejected for an UX designer position turns out they were realy looking for a UX tester with project leadership skills 🤗 does that even mix bro???
Note to self 🤔 never apply for jobs there in the future 🤔1 -

Have you ever rejected a job offer just because said company uses php. I did 3 in last two weeks.
p. s. I already have job, may that's why3 -
What tools do you have access to at work?
I don't work a tech company, far from it. I love it but both the hardware and software at my disposal are so shitty I'm starting to lose it.
Running Windows locally, I'm not allowed any Linux distro because "security." Indeed, I don't even have admin rights on my machine. It was rejected. The excuse being that I am sudoer on a server, which (and can only be) physically located in our headquarters.
Today I found out this server's CPU from the dark ages does not support tensorflow, so here I will be building that shit from source tomorrow (no GPU of course).
And thanks for 4G of RAM on what you refer to as a "power" machine.3 -

This one is funny for me because my current team lead and I have a really comical dynamic regarding reviews.
I can't say I've ever really had a bad experience but I brought up one stand up about how he had rejected my PR and that he was probably just going to reject the next one. So now it's this joke if I get a PR through in one review (which is usually).
One time he spiked a ping pong ball towards me in a match and I replied, "Hey whoa man, this isn't a code review calm down!". 😂 -
-Recently started a new job so I’m new to the infrastructure-
Spent the vast majority of the day trying to SSH into one of my company servers to sort some random bug out on the website & the connection kept being rejected despite the day before it working when passing the .pem key into the SSH along with the ip & my username, nothing new there.
Anyway, everyone’s mad busy so I don’t wanna bother anyone to ask why, so I check confluence, no documentation for SSHING into our scheduler or the code the server I need to access. Never-mind.
Spend another couple hours trying debug it on my own, no luck. Never-mind.
Finally seize my opportunity and ask for help; ‘Oh the server IP changes daily so you need to run a task through our scheduler that you need to SSH into to return the list of IPS and that dynamically changes so that’s how you get the IP’
Oh ok. Why is there no documentation for that again? I mean. Thats generally some pretty important information you’d pass onto your starters.
At least I can say I won’t be making that same mistake again.5 -
I really hate when you get rejected in an interview and get no feedbacks and even worse when you reply HR with a question and they not answer you at all and ignore you.
You invest your time for them and then they not even bother to answer you. This is heartful and I have no place to go and can’t complain.
I feel used.3 -

I'm a college graduate majored in English, and I took 6 months of web publishing class. The class was useless because it was heavily design-based. I went there to learn to code some websites, so I had to learn HTML and CSS myself with W3Schools. After that, I was tossed out to get a job, but there was no junior frontend dev position around my area. I had no idea how hard it was to get a junior frontend dev job until I actively searched for months and found no jobs. Now I lost all the passion for learning to code and motivation to become a frontend dev. I applied for a web designer, and got silently rejected. Maybe that was because I sent a resume and portfolio with "junior web developer" printed on them. I have no desire to do design stuff. However, my major is English, and I want to become a sort of developer. I know there are hundreds of backend jobs, but I'm not sure I could even learn some backend coding alone as a non-major. Now I'm wondering what way I should take. Can somebody please give me advices? There's no one to help me in real life. I'm lost.6

It goes back in college days were,I started developing on Visual Basic for a college project as it was the only option.
As the scope was limited to a standalone application,we we're not allowed to use network.
Building up on the that, the project was to be done in a group of two with SRS and other stuff needed to done.
With my partner having no knowledge about the code,I took my ideas and Incorporated it into my project such as system logs, session tracking, data records, barcode reader, export data in various formats and so on.
The project got large eventually and professor's were curious to see the development of my project.
The project got showcased as the best project by professors and that overall gained my popularity in college and got me a job offer which I rejected in the end -

My coolest bug fix was fixing XSS and CSRF vulnerabilities. It was the starting of my IT career and when I hear these big names, I used to think that it takes a big brain to fix them. But the solutions were rather simple. My architect told me how to solve them and I made my version of the solution and sent it for his review. He just rejected it and told some enhancements to it. The to and fro of these reviews happened for a week.
At some point I felt, why don't he f*****g do it himself. It would take him about 5 minutes.
Finally my code was approved.
Now when I turn back and think about it, I feel I learned a lot from that exercise. -
pull request that made my day - a colleague of mine wants to make the open world subject to some master. of course I rejected this attempt ;)4

Hey everyone,
So I recently had a phone interview which I think I fucked up by being super scared and this not being able to answer some questions properly. They said that they'll be sending a programming test but I haven't heard back from them since about a week. I'm having this bad feeling that my application has been rejected.
What would be a good way to email them back asking how the interview went and whether they will be moving forward with my application or not?2 -

The number of times I have been contacted by companies because they have seen my website and Github account saying they are interested in someone like me, to later be rejected because my lack of experience from working on any companies.
I know they want seniors but how is one supposed to climb from junior to senior when companies only want 5+ years experienced seniors.
I know the fact that I am a junior dev, but I would like to say don't judge a book by its cover. It's the skill not # of years that matter, no?5 -
Year 2012, me junior wanting C++ work. Got free internship at age 27 at that company. Did some minor C++ work. Collegue rejected me for work on very interesting C++ project. Yesterday, eight years later, he and I in different company he calls me and asks me to do C++ work, even arranges time for me to read Effective C++. In these eight years I did iOS Android and got pretty fed up with it. Yaaay bitch :)

Recruiter these days,
Message you on LinkedIn,
Schedule Call for further steps,
Calls you,
And then gets lost,
..
At least say I am rejected or approved -

Don't be discouraged by rejection. If you get rejected from a company it doesn't necessarily mean you're not good enough for them, they might just be looking for a different type of developer, different type of personality, etc. Or they might even have misjudged you based on the 30 seconds they gave you. Of course, you need to sharpen your skills, but decouple that from reactions from companies to you.

Person from a company I am contractor for tried to fuck me up and put me to the project with high money penalties without my will and behind my back.
I don’t understand those people.
You run a project do everything for them except delivering invoice to client and they try to fuck you anyway behind your or their client back.
You literally fight with people to give them money.
This all happened after me keeping their client project for almost 4 years.
Bell rings again to leave them this year after end of contract and don’t look back but I’m sad I need to leave nice client and application I was making for 4 years straight. I am oldest person in project probably only one that understands business behind it from ground up.
There was big rotation in project and knowing the company they will put some junior on my place that will break everything.
Well I still have some time to think ( maybe even couple of months) about what to do next besides taking some time off during this summer.
I am afraid that I rejected so many interesting offers during those 4 years nobody wants me and I got rusty with my stack I am no longer competitive.
I was unable to make anything during weekend and on Monday again cause of this shit.
Fucking people.4 -
Hello Devrant! It’s ya boi!
Update. Currently back in school in the Netherlands. Studying law and technology. Yeet.
But yeahhhh so stressed omfg. Finals already in October. This school is a mess.
And I’m the middle of that my thesis got rejected so here I am. Crying. Asking y’all for ideas. Anything you can think of please say.
It’s gotta be tech but a legal question. Ethical is fine too tbh. So if there is anything you’ve wondered or think is of please tell me the question. 😭
all I’ll say is that the last one they said was too vague and not specific enough. And ideally it should be AI or data science but anything tech would do.
Not sure if this is the place to ask but thank youuu.9 -
After applying to thousands of startups, and getting rejected too, this one startup with kind-of good brand shortlisted me, gave me an assignment, i worked my ass of to make it and after 7-8 non stop hours, i finally submitted the assignment, the next day the hr guy called and he discussed about stipend, perks etc. I guessed i was selected, the very evening the govt. Here imposed corona virus lockdowns and the next day the hr said "he will connect with me after lockdowns are over". But economy has hit very hard here, I am panicking every day that will i ever get that internship? It was my only chance to get my first job and a full time dev job 😫😫😫😫😖3

I was working on a bug in a parser for the response from an api which returns 'n/a' when a certain measurement isn't available. The code was "if ($value == 'n/a')" and when this was true the value was rejected (language is php).
Some of you may instantly understand the problem here. I didn't. Some of the measurements were 0 which is ok, but for some reason it didn't accept them.
Then I discovered the bitter truth:
0 == 'n/a' is true!
Apparently php tries to convert the string to a number to compare it and if it fails it returns false, so false == 0

What do you think about psychometric tests? I doubt a test can define the type of person you are nor your characteristics. I think it's ambigous, unprecise and extremely subjective. Today I was rejected from a job offer because "the psychometric department didn't give their vote of approval". This is the first time I get rejected for that reason, in the past nobody complained about the results of my tests. I don't know if psychometry is useful, but this company is looking for someone different, or maybe psychometry is, in fact, subjective and any fool can interpret your results however he feels like: "Oh, so he likes kittens over puppies, he's a potential serial killer, let's reject him"1

Got rejected, need advice.
I had an interview for a remote company in Singapore, they said they found a better candidate in the end. I really wanted this job because they would've paid me 12-15x my current salary. Ofc I understand that I'm still a Junior and I'm not an attractive candidate, so my question to you is, other than my years of experience, how can I make myself stand out from the crowd?3 -
I have a technical job interview Wednesday for a remote software developer position
Does anyone have any advice on how to be successful?
I'm a little nervous about it, because I have been looking for a job for a while now and have been rejected over and over again...1 -
Need some help,
I am setting up postfix and I need it to accept all emails, from any domain (without a domain list), and forward it to a local address on the machine (It pipes into PHP, toscript@).
I have a catch-all working where it is forwarding the emails to the toscript@ mailbox dispite of the to address. But if I send an email to it that is not in the domain list it gets rejected as it's not in the domain list, Is their a known way to force Postfix to accept all domain emails without having a list of the domains in the server.
I have searched but no luck of a working solution, I have looked at the following with no working solution

Looking at the docs I do not see anything for it but making it an open relay but I can't figure what settings to update to make it the open relay to capture all of the mail.
I know I am missing something but I can't figure out what it is!
::Rant::
I'd like to use Postfix as it seems very stable and it's not a hack job as some of the projects that I have seen. It also can communicate with all of the proper channels for SMTP and the Protocol as well as some very easy configs.2 -
So... the guy from my last rant completely screwed up a site he'd been working on for our company (blaming the web hosters for their "shitty config" while it was just an error in his .htaccess).
He then proceeded to do it all from scratch (instead of using already existing stuff like he did before).
He asked me to help him out.
I put as conditions that we where going to do it "my" way, with the tools I am pushing at work (Docker, Git, CakePHP and Sass).
He rejected it (as always) saying: "I don't care if the site looks good or works good, I just want something out of the door ASAP".
So I declined because I just can't work with that mentality.
He asked an intern (of which he actually has no saying but w/e) whom barely understands the basics of HTML and CSS to help him out.
Intern agreed and they started working on it.
Two weeks in and the guy takes a nice two week holiday, leaving the intern all by himself :)
something something "I want it out of the door asap"... -

The next time that push request is rejected:
Force push that mf.
I mean, you're a boss , right? -
When you send mails to different companies trying to get an Android developer internhip and none of them don't even feel you are good enough to be rejected 😥😥1

I built their new webshop runninn since 2018 👏 still got rejected tho, I guess all they needed was a framework makeover 🤭1

So I have a question. Currently stuck with php and it seems declined. If not say declined in the near future. The rise of front end and nodejs, go, ect. It seems my stack degrade s everyday. I do side projects with latest tech. But when job interview asks commercial experiences with latest tech. I have none. Rejected. Is it any solution?3

How fucking hard can it be to create a BTC transaction to override an unconfirmed one. Tried two tools but the resulting transaction gets rejected by the network.
Does anyone know one that works and is maybe even automated by any chance? Maybe I can try it if its still unconfirmed when I get home.1
