Future developer who reads that shit may not find it funny

No. Is it unprofessional to put in TODO's that I know will never be completed?

Linkable Object Library, yes, this is okay

Small team and a one off joke... maybe ok.

But to me 'lol' has a lot of possible negative messages to do with not taking things seriously, carelessness, immaturity ... etc.

Random internet conversation, no big deal.

In a more professional setting ... eehhhhhhhhh

Only if you were forced to do the commented piece of code you advised against doing.

Hopefully the next dev will detect the cynism overload and get the fuck out.

lol nah. I get a crack out of code comments. Those that might find it a horrible sacrilege against the profession probably think to highly of themselves

    Some of my recent comments:

// Shouldn’t happen, but happening shouldn’t make other things happen, either.

// It’s a secret to everybody — don’t notify nested forms or we’re gonna have a bad time.

A doublemint gum jingle about denouncing. (I don’t quite remember it, and I’m so not getting out of bed to check)

// And finally, our listener. (Poor Cicero)

And for the code… the event handler’s name is: `escort_submission_intermission`
(with the now-removed debug text: “Thank you for entering the party escort submission intermission position”)

Explanation: the script (named v3_escort_script) gets injected along with the Recaptcha javascript (hence escort), and among other things,
pauses the form submission (thus intermission) until the Recaptcha promise resolves.

If you don’t have some fun once in awhile, what’s the point? 😄
