....

I give up trying to write this.
I'm just too fucking pissed off.

My interactions with my micromanager make absolutely no sense -- she is clearly just trying to piss me off and blame me for everything, facts and reasoning be damned.

I tried detailing this week's examples (there are lots, and it's fucking Tuesday), but. screw it.

Fuck working for (and with) her.
She's a bitchface and a thundercunt.

I'm updating my resume and fucking off out of here.

God fucking damnit i hate her.

When they ask why you are looking for a new job don't say: I was tired of working with bitchface thundercunt. No matter how much you want to.

There is a better place for you that will treat you better.

Take all the staples out of her stapler and put them through her paper shredder or printer. As a going away present, of course.

    @connormon 100% remote company.
  • 7
@Root the real disadvantages of working remote come out

    Took you long enough…

I don’t want to flex my empath skills too much but it sounds like you might be a little discontented in your work

Picking up from your other post and making an educated guess: it seems like you are underemployed and it's making people around you feel inadequate and threatened. Imo it seems like you would be better off in a higher paid position where you could be around piers who "do the thing". Feel free to disregard if that doesn't seem accurate but the patterns seem to be there based on your posts.

@connormon does some place still use so much paper that each person has their own printer or shredder?
  • 1
Is there any way you can make the case to take her job? Of course it would be the same shit hole. Probably bad idea.

Time for some malicious compliance too?

@donuts I’m too mentally checked out.

Every time I talk to her, she accuses me of doing something wrong, not getting enough done, not communicating enough, not “rebuilding my reputation.” Doesn’t matter what I do, how many tickets I finish, what I say. I’m always in the wrong and not good enough. And she’s been getting increasingly aggressive and insulting over the past month.

Now she wants me to send twice-daily status updates (again) including what I’m working on, my progress since the last update, my plans for the tickets, my followup plans for the tickets, who I’ve talked to and about what, what meetings I have planned/scheduled to work on the tickets, what my blockers are, what my potential blockers might be, who I will reach out to for each, etc. Twice a day because “it’s about communication” and “she needs visibility so [she] can answer questions in [her] managerial meetings.”

(Also; whenever I do, she immediately suggests changes, demands I talk to someone else and have them tell me what to do, etc.)

I don’t really need to talk to anyone about my tickets; I’m perfectly fine of handling them on my own. (Except I do this week, and the only person who can help is out; but I’m not constantly begging everyone for help so I’m clearly doing something wrong?)

She’s a damned micromanager, and she’s excessively and unwaveringly bitchy. (Quite large, too.)

I just can’t work with her. I’ve tried, I’ve really bloody tried; I just can’t. She wastes my time, she doesn’t listen, she constantly belittles and ridicules me, says everyone else also thinks I’m useless, she twists everything I say, calls me out for not doing things I’ve already done, ignores my contributions and completed tickets, etc. She makes me angry nearly every single day, and some days far too angry to work. I’m just done.

I’m talking to HR today. If I have to keep working with her, I’ll just quit. I don’t care anymore.

@Root that honestly sounds really terrible. Very best wishes and thoughts going out to you in your HR endeavour 🙏

@Root who else works under her, they feel the same?

For blockers, potential blockers I guess you could put her.

Also seems like you would need to spend a lot of time writing these emails... Does she even read them?

Maybe can write the time spent on these emails and cc her boss.

Add like talked to HR about abusive behavior, details.

Not sure though, depends is this in the US? Other countries may be more accepting of these sorts of managers...

But maybe you can get some ideas from the subreddit.

@glemiere I don’t have much devOps experience, though I wouldn’t mind picking up the skills.

Who else knew this was a @Root rant before opening it?

I am a sheep of a manager compared to her

@Root So, to put it simply, she’s incompetent and no matter what she’s thrown at you, you’re too good and she’s not winning. Literally talk to HR and then cease all excess communication with her with a collated email of all her requests of you. Then CC in any superiors so they can see what an unreasonable piece of shit she is.

@badcopnodonuts The company has a policy of “if you don’t want it recoded, pick up the phone” — this is to protect trade secrets and similar. But it applies to nasty comments and ridiculous requests, too. They’ve almost all been over zoom calls.

Doesn’t matter. I spoke with HR and complained a few times about the ridiculousness and bitchiness, put it in writing, etc.

I’m happy to say she is no longer my manager! Unfortunately, she is still the rest of the team’s manager. But now I report to her boss (and my former) directly.

Let’s see how this goes. (Still looking to leave, though!)

    @Root yewww! That’s great news.

On the plus side, if they’re bullying you and there’s no proof. There’s also no proof of you ignore them haha.

Glad you’re under a new manager though. 🤙🏼
