i don't know if it was the intention, but this is quite transphobic @kiki. men attracted to buck angel are not straight, no matter how you look at it, he's a man through and through. idk the girl on the left, suppose she's trans also
-
@darksideofyay Damn not a apache helicopter in sight. Can't stand this vehiclephobism
-
@kiki The third move is to just not choose trans people at all in terms of mating.
-
bioDan56222y@kiki ofcourse genitialia has everything to do with being a man or a woman, its the most basic common knowledge among human beings since the beginning of communication and classification.
Dont let people tell you otherwise, and dont let the internet poison your mind. -
@Fast-Nop are you 100% sure you can clock a trans woman before you hit on her in a bar? it's not about who you're choosing to date, it's about attraction. you can date anyone you want, but "trap" wouldn't even be a concept if straight men weren't attracted to trans women
-
@kiki i get it, i just don't think this was the best way to do this or the best way to phrase it
-
I love how we've come full circle and now even @kiki is labelled transphobic lmao
-
@12bitfloat trans people can reinforce transphobic views, just like women can be sexist or lgbt people can be lgbtphobic. I'm not trying to cancel @kiki, I'm saying it's a point for reflection, because we often internalize bs from society
-
@12bitfloat ? i really don't get why people get so insulted when confronted about their dubious behavior. if someone tells me I'm racist or sexist i have to reflect on my actions, because that's not the person i wish to be and i don't want to hurt others. everyone is fucked up, we can choose to grow from our mistakes or stay frozen in time
-
@darksideofyay Maybe not visually right away, but unless the date ended on other points already before (from either side), I would politely end it once that comes up.
-
@darksideofyay I don't wanna be that guy but if you're trying not to be racist or sexist you should really drop the SJW schtick
-
@Fast-Nop you do you, anyone dates who they want, but you were still attracted to them, that doesn't change 🤷 honestly i don't think the trans woman would want to be in that relationship either
-
@darksideofyay Well he obviously wouldn't be attracted to him at that point so I don't see the problem of just making that decision up front if possible. Like you said, everbody has different tastes, some just aren't into trans people
-
@12bitfloat great logic, if i want to stop being sexist i have to tolerate sexism and not point out sexism? how is that helping anyone, other than sexists?
-
@darksideofyay Sure, initially attracted, but there are many points on which initial attraction can fade away. That's just one of them.
Also, the initial attraction says nothing about orientation, only about the state of the art in contemporary medicine. -
@12bitfloat but if he was previously attracted to that woman, he was just put off by a characteristic of hers, just like a guy might be put off if a girl is gross, or if she says something rude. that doesn't change that being attracted to trans woman is natural for straight guys, it is a visual game after all
-
@Fast-Nop so even if you're not attracted to a guy, you can be gay if you put the effort into getting to know them. are you saying you'd be attracted to buck if you got to know him and you clicked?
-
@darksideofyay Sure I guess? If a transwoman looks exactly like a woman than you might be attracter to her without even knowing. And you might also stop being attracted to her beacuse of various factors which may or may not include her being trans, mean, gross, or whatever else. I don't really get the argument...
"Oh you thought she's hot so you really *do* love transwoman, huh?" Like you're trying to catch people out. Some people are into trans people and some aren't. It really isn't a big deal -
@darksideofyay I don't understand your first sentence. For the second, no, I wouldn't date Buck (the person on the right image, I guess), either - the difference is just that I'd know that after half a second, if even that much.
-
@12bitfloat yes, i'm saying it's not a big deal, straight guys are attracted to women, cis or straight. idk why guys would be against that? that just means you're straight, congrats, i thought you guys already knew that
-
@darksideofyay Attraction is a lot more than "looks similar to"... Mannerisms, voice, height, body form, you know, simple things like genitals. Those all play a part in what someone finds attractive
I don't know why you are so obsessed with trying to gaslight men into liking transwomen just because from a highly controlled picture they look hot. Maybe it's just me but just because I like how someone looks from an extreme surface level is not nearly enough for me to consider dating them -
@12bitfloat you don't get to know someone's genitals without talking to them (hopefully). and I'm not trying to gaslight men into liking trans women, I'm trying to make you guys consider forgiving yourselves for being straight, because straight guys are attracted trans women
-
@darksideofyay It seems like we're not using the same definition for "attracted to" means. Do I think the left girl in the picture is hot? Yeat she's pretty hot, I even made a joke about wanting to fuck her
Would I date her? Probably not, because I quite like real girls
PS: Also please don't (wo)mansplain (I'm somewhat of a feminist myself, see) what men should feel or be attracted to. We really don't need screechy SJWs to simultaneously tell us we are the problem and also try to play the saviour that's gonna save us dumb men -
bioDan56222y@darksideofyay if he was naked, you can be sure id know.
People can fool people in many ways.
Attraction involves expectations and dissapointments, and not everyone are equiped with handling dissapointments, especially if they are already emotionally invested.
The joke is on the trans person though, and i hope that the trans person gets help and copes with the situation.
They/them should know they are ill and i suspect most of them do. I wont tell them what to do with their lives, and id expect them to not tell me either how to live mine. There's also a limit to the price society is willing to pay.
I'm baffled about what's happenning in bathrooms, women's sports, and k-12 education in the U.S and other western countries.
I'm confused by the spotlight and attention trans people get. I imagine its horrible to feel like you are born in the wrong body. I already feel sorry for them as is.
But there are other worse conditions to be in, and people don't get such a spotlight for that. How about bipolar/bpd people? Cancer and its various types? Other horrible diseases and conditions?
Anyway i wish they/them well and to get better, especially the young ones. -
@12bitfloat "yeah she's pretty hot" dare i say you're... attracted?
i really don't care who you guys want to date or not, it's just stupid to pretend you have to see a girl's vagina to be attracted -
bioDan56222y@darksideofyay im married with children. I dont care about women or trans trying to seduce me. Ive already accomplished my relationship goals and im growing my own family.
And id bet you too would have been, in the best case, annoyed if you feel you've been fooled/lied to after you've been emotionally invested -
@darksideofyay "just leave them be" - funny. Now re-read your own comment about the bar flirting. You're contradicting yourself, I guess.
-
Earu5632yYou’re fighting a lost battle, even if someone is attracted it might just not click later on in the bedroom. And you can’t force people to do things they don’t want to do. That’s all.
-
@Fast-Nop I'm just aware that guys feel entitled to hit on women in any space. when they realize they hit on a trans woman they often get aggressive and hurt or kill them. that's why trans women have a high mortality rate. hard to have nuance in a devrant sized text is it
-
@Earu when did i dispute that? I actually said it's better for everyone if transphobic men don't hit on trans women, it's safer
-
@darksideofyay Women mostly don't hit on men and mostly leave that to the men. Ofc nobody could just hit on anybody, how nice would that be, and a culture with that mindset would quickly die out and make room for others.
-
bioDan56222y@darksideofyay i think the burden is on the trans woman to be upfront about her biology from the start.
I get that it might be extremely difficult to do it, but the responsibility is hers to match expectations on this matter. -
@darksideofyay If you think it's better with cultures who don't buy into any of that, sure. I hope you're aware that "progressivity" would go out of the window right away.
-
@bioDan is she supposed to wear a sign on her forehead at all times saying TRANS so a cab driver, a bartender, a passerby won't hit on her or catcall her?
-
@darksideofyay No need to go full conspiracy theory mode, jesus. I can personally guarentee that "men hitting on transwomen that look like real women and then threatening them after finding out" is definitely not the reason trans poeple have such a high mortality rate
-
@Fast-Nop i mean the dying out part. if we were all dead i wouldn't be having this conversation lol
maybe global warming is not so bad after all -
bioDan56222y@darksideofyay no, she should just be honest and upfront, and empathetically inform the person what of who she is as it is a sensitive matter for human beings (cant get much more intimate than sex).
-
@bioDan That would defeat the whole point of "passing". But latest when it comes to physical contact during a flirting session, i.e. before kissing, that would be the right point to disclose that. That's assuming that no rejection happened from either side before that point anyway.
-
@12bitfloat ffs just watch paris is burning or read any queer author, please. it's statistics, not conspiracy
-
@Fast-Nop most trans women do that, they also don't want to deal with that shit
-
@darksideofyay But that's the thing - not all cultures buy into that. Those who don't would outcompete the others simply by procreating the way mammals have been doing that forever, thereby shaping the world.
-
@darksideofyay There's not much "belief" about basic mammal biology and how procreation works.
-
@darksideofyay First of all calling me honey is sexist
Second of all I don't watch movies nor documentaries in the shape of movies
Check mate, feminist -
@darksideofyay There are multiple reasons why the mortality is higher, and no, being killed on dates is not a major factor.
https://hcplive.com/view/...
Elevated heart disease, lung cancer, infection, suicide are pretty big reasons. -
@Fast-Nop But a fictional character died like that in a show I like, it must be statistically significant
-
@12bitfloat it's not sexist, it's condescending. not the best look, i agree, but this adolescent behavior just brings out the mom in me i guess. now go eat your greens
-
bioDan56222y@Fast-Nop yeah maybe, its very hard to put borders / limits to such personal matters.
The easy and bad solution would be if we all agree to declare our pronouns in advance.
The hard and correct one would be to differentiate between different types and temperaments of people, and the time and place the interactions take place.
Add to it common courtesy and communication skills and you got the evolutionary solution that worked in the past century. -
@bioDan Or, also a superb idea: when flirting up a woman, just asking her whether she's trans. I bet that approach will make room for, uhm, several dates per evening. ^^
-
-
@darksideofyay Uhm, Brazil and Mexico as leading states. Well yeah, no shit, the murder rates in general are frighteningly high there, everyone knows that.
That's why I picked up something from a country that isn't an outright shithole anyway, i.e. the Netherlands. -
@12bitfloat yes, if you're condescending to women, because of power dynamics and societal values, yes, it's much more likely to come from sexism. nuance, boys
-
@Fast-Nop it's about proportion, this wouldn't be headlines if it wasn't a major portion of the trans community
-
@darksideofyay Wait, are you telling me now you think you can't be sexist towards men?
I am completely shocked and in awe that you would say something like that. I totally didn't already know that you believe that lol -
@darksideofyay Basic statistics: in countries with high murder rates, there will also be more trans people being killed. That's because the high murder rate indicates there's something generally wrong with such a country.
-
@darksideofyay Jokes aside, in 2005 we didn't have a mainstream political cult that believes being hateful and vengeful is a virtue and hating groups of people based on skin color and sex is not only okay but a perfectly fine solution as long as it's against the right people
Yeah fucking right I wish it was 2005 -
@12bitfloat no, in 2005 you guys didn't even have gay marriage, what a wonderful time to be alive as a queer person
-
@12bitfloat honestly, considering how much of a crap the world is now, can't really say your conclusion is wrong, but I don't agree with the logic you used to get there
-
@darksideofyay
> hateful mob that would tear anyone down, commits acts of political violence, burns down city blocks and loots local stores
> no offical gay marriage
Yeah weighing all the evidence I must conclude that 2005 is indeed the better option, gay marriage or not -
@12bitfloat in 2005 you guys never had a coup, the earth wasn't in flames, smarphones didn't exist, social media who, no pandemic, before the recession, yeah there are good things. not for lgbt people, but for the straights, sure
-
bioDan56222y@12bitfloat i would've rolled back to the time before twitter, tinder, and instagram were invented.
-
bioDan56222y@darksideofyay talk with lgbtq people older than 40 years old and outside your bubble, you might be surprised.
-
@darksideofyay Why do you keep saying "you guys". My political believes don't have a representation. There's nobody I could vote for that is halfway reasonable. If I did I wouldn't be so depressed for the future of free western democracies
-
@bioDan that's another can of worms, it'd need much more time and NUANCE to talk about that, and unfortunately the talk we're having here is too shallow for that. maybe if an older gay pops up in the comments
-
@darksideofyay Well nuance is sadly often missing in arguments on the internet (yet very vital)
-
@12bitfloat when i say you guys i mean americans. your reality is a bit different from ours in brazil, although not by a lot.
edit: for example, we had a few coups already, bit tiresome
Check your orientation!
