hidden12039yI think it has something to do with the way they integrated news into the widgets in spotlight, on the other hand, I can't for the life of me understand how News is integral to the OS and Maps isn't 😕
-
@hidden seems weird, I wonder if soon we can set a different default? So Google maps as a default for maps? Maybe?
-
hidden12039yYea it's all very weird, there's also a message that appears when you try to delete the music app that says "purchased and synced music on this device will not be deleted" however that's supposed to work? Like why keep the content that I can't access but allow me to delete the app? The more you think about it the more it seems Apple is moving towards allowing 3rd party default apps
-
@hidden let's hope, although I feel like it would be a big announcement if they did that which means unlikely to happen before IOS 11 but it seems pointless to wait another year to do that?
-
hidden12039yiOS 10.1? Or maybe they'll add it onto the end of the 9th September launch? Then again they might not mention it at all like the ability to delete default apps, just slip it into the release notes
-
@hidden maybe they will add it in before launch as it seems weird to be able to delete them but not set a different one as a default? I guess we will have to wait and see what happens though

Installed the beta this morning and so glad they now let you do this! So good to get rid of bloat apps that you do not need.

I'm not sure how many people on here would care about this since it's not strictly a dev issue, but just thought I'd let everyone know, iOS default apps can now be deleted on iOS 10
